My fanlistings collective which has links to all the fanlistings that I run as well as other fanlisting related pages and statistical information. I don't know if it's allowed but I've made changes based on the first four reviews. The only comment I didn't address was making it less boring and more creative. I need to work on that still, I'm not a designer, I'm a coder and it unfortunately shows.

    Okay, so, fanlisting collectives are difficult to rate due to their content. The only thing I can really comment on content-wise is your History page, which is well-written and filled to the max with information on your site.

    So, now I am going to make a few small comments on your design.

    1) I do not like your choice of background. It is not very attractive, and when I scroll the page, it moves as well, which is causing wonky vision on my part, and I'm sure for other visitors as well. I would stick with a plain background, or even a diagonally striped one with subtle colours.

    2) The font on the header doesn't seem to be working. It doesn't really stand out, it doesn't have anything really special about it.

    3) The background of your main content area is to dark. I would make it much lighter, therefore allowing the text to stand out. Right now, the background is a bit distracting from the text.

    4) I think that there should be more left padding on the sidebar. It's all cramped over there near the edge of the container, and there is SO much space to be had! :D Spread it out! Let it breathe!

    Yeah, so, those are my few comments! Other than that, it looks pretty nice. :)

    Ok, your header. Is dolphins, which doesn't have anything to do with your site. Not necessarily a bad thing, and I don't know what else you could use for a header without copyright infringement, but meh. Also, looking at past layouts, it seems you did in fact use layouts with things from your fanlistings whih is good because it ties in, but also bad because of the whole copyright thing.

    Do you have a main site, blog, or some other content besides your fanlistings? I'd like to know more about you :)

    The background is kind of purply-white, and the white is fairly distrcting from the grey-blue that you're using as a main theme. Also, I am not particularly fond of the blue either. It seems kind of drab, which is weird because it's really a sky blue, but maybe some accents somewhere?

    Overall, major props to you for making your own layout (and in strict), it takes a lot of effort to do that. It is not great, but you will get better over time :)

    First of all, I love the name, it's really creative and gives a whole 'vibe' to the site, but it's then let down by the layout.

    Layout:- Blue is my favourite colour, but I don't like that shade of blue or the fact that everything is blue. Your header is boring, a picture without any effects and a common, unstylish looking font placed on top. I don't see anything interesting going on, it's just a picture with text and a sidebar/content background without a background doesn't help, so add a darker background to that to see if it looks more consistent and complete.

    Navigation:- The links are purply blue on a blue background, a horrible one at that but that's bias since i don't like it personally but the fact it doesn't stand out well and the fact that the links are italic isn't a good idea, because i don't think italics work in that size with that font very neatly... Normal, bold, WHITE links might look better (remember what I said about darker background for sidebar so it's readable). The titles on the sidebar could be at least 2 pt smaller as well, they are in your face too much.

    Content area:- You could have put the top bit of info in the sidebar with a small font and making the sidebar wider would make it look cleaner if you did insert it there. Again, the content is boring but nothing wrong with it, it's clean, it's readable.

    I'm not going through every page as they all will probably be the same style but the only thing I saw was the link colour again, is purple/blue on a blue background... You have a go back button on your pages when there is one in every browser and it's java, not everyone uses it, therefore making it redundant for quite a few (I used to use one myself don't worry)

    Fanlist history:- Woah, a lot of info, it might be me because i'm just impatient but i wouldn't go through all of that, 2 paragraphs at most is best.

    Past layouts:- Nothing to say apart from the thumbnails would look better centred and with borders

    Contact page:- Good, apart from the big, fat send button, also good that you used [at] instead of @

    Kim list:- Better if you introduce that page as i don't know what it is

    The go back link isn't one I put in it's hard coded into the fanlisting management script that I use. I'm trying to take it out but having difficulty locating it in a couple of cases. I've also changed the link colours and tried to make it look less boring. Thanks for your review!

    Layout- Your header image lacks effort. It is not eye-catching and the colors are just too similar and not much of variety. It is original even though it does not appeal your visitors.

    Coding: Wow good job on getting your site valid!! That's great since your site shouldn't have any problems loading.

    Content: I personally don't know much about your fanlistings but it is great that you are sharing :) I think the page "Codes" should become "Link Me back" or something. Not much people will know that is the page to buttons.

    Overall: Your site was easy to navigate, well-organized. I think you should make the image a bit big and make your visitors 'attracted' to your site. Something that make them browse the site. For your site buttons, the quality of those need to be better as well. From looking at your past layouts, you have great potential to make other unique and high-quality layouts. Try using different color schemes and css!

It seems like your actual css is good (or the root of it), but you need to spice up the text/links/headers, etc. You see how your link color is a light gray? That's a bit unreadable, maybe try something darker so that the light purple doesn't overpower it.

    Content: I don't know much about fanlistings but all the pages seem okay. I like how you had all the navigation laid out. As I look through your past layouts though, they all seem pretty plain. Try some nice colorings with brightness/contrast, curves, selective coloring or different layer styles.

    Originality: Overall, your site doesn't seem really original or appealing but I think the content itself and the base coding is really great.

    Overall: So I'd just say, spice up the coding and the layout and it'll definitely appeal more visitors. And try to work the header and the main content together so they don't clash and they flow as one layout.

    If I wasn't reviewing this site, I would have closed the tab on account of just the layout. Can you imagine how regular visitors may thing? The gradient is just bad. What makes the layout even worse is the light pink used for the main content. You don't do those pictures justice (they're beautiful) with this header.

    The light pink completely killed this for me. It just doesn't go.

    Blog and sidebar

    Disregarding the light pink background, even the text is a bit...meh. It's big enough, yes. But the links are too light on this pink. The sidebar is tiny. 200px sidebars are terrible. This needs some sprucing up. I think this was supposed to be a layout that's fluid width. The blog area needs more spacing between the entries. It's all...smushed. Your titles need to stand out more. As it is, it drowns with the rest of the text.

    The other pages

    Fanlistings: You need better graphics for the thumbnails you give while introducing the fanlistings. Either that, or get rid of it altogether and keep just the description. The light links are really hampering my efforts in trying to read through your 350-odd joined fanlistings.

    Site: You write pretty well. One of your affiliate buttons come up broken though.

    Coding

    You have an excellent sense of code. That means you code well, but you really apply it well, or at least it doesn't look that way with this layout. It all validates! Good job!

    All in all...

    You have a site here that is just...meh. I'd like to see more about you. We know that you're a fan of 350+ things and it shows in your listing. But the graphics all around were just not good at all. But you write well, so without losing the spirit of what your site's about, exploit it. You're definitely not seasoned in the graphics department, and I give you props for trying, but you need lots of practice. Good luck!

    Alright, first you have sort of a watermelon-type thing, but then all of the sudden have this light pink. Maybe look up some color pallets to use as a guide?

    Header Image
    Those are nice pictures - but they don't really work for a layout at this size. They are side by side, with no border...anyway, your header could use a lot of work :) but I would make a new one altogether, because you will need bigger images for a decent-looking header.

    Sidebar
    I don't like the white links...I can barely see them, and it hurts my eyes...the text colors are boring :'( I would suggest making a separate class for your navigational links. They just look like the usual links (which looks sadly unprofessional)
    I would move 'Home' under site...or somewhere else. It looks out of place just hovering up there all by itself.

    Link Buttons
    I just decided to comment on your Link Back buttons. They all use the same color scheme - why not get prettier buttons? That match the layout?
    Try putting the linking code in a textarea.

    Overall
    This was quite a short review, but I don't have time to go through all your pages.
    You are very organized (which I LOVE! :3).
    But you should put a credit page in there (Where you got the fonts, photos etc.)...and I would suggest getting a favicon (if you can) because it makes your site look that much better.
    As I said, your navigational links should differentiate from your regular links, and the header image should be re-done...but I really like your site all in all ;)
    Anyway, keep it up!

    The biggest thing I hate right off the bat is the gradient background. Dark pink and dark green do not go together. In my opinion anyway. It is a very strange color combination.     Congrats on your site being XHTML and CSS valid. That's a rarity here. Your site loads very fast, and it's very well organized, coding-wise. Good job.

    --Originality--

    Like I said previously, your header and graphics need a lot of work. I'd like to see you back with a different site that could show off your creativity and originality. Fanlisting collectives aren't really "original".

    --Overall Thoughts--

    I see potential because you can code properly and organize your thoughts. However, your graphics are just blah. The whole site is really blah, but then again, it's a routine fanlisting collective. Maybe add a little about yourself? I'd like to see that. Good luck!
