Fluid layouts are pretty hard to edit so that it actually looks good on all sorts of screen resolutions and i have to say that this layout at 1280x800 doesn't look the best.
the formating is pretty decent, the color scheme is pretty plain, and the header is as well.
Theres tons of free stock sites out there that can provide high quality photos of objects. Perhaps starting out with a specific size like maybe 750px wide and creating a pretty decent header for that size can be a great start for the forum's layout. Theres also plenty of web icons sites out there to find high quality icons to use for your forum.
As for choice of header font. Because its a tv based forum. perhaps a more Broadway/theater inspired font can help relate it to the images your using. the curvy font doesn't really match with the gist of the image. Looks out of place.Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?

on 21st Nov 2008 and said:I'm not a fan of the layout itself, with how it stretches across the whole screen, which doesn't match the header image in terms of design or size very well. I like how it's clear and easy-to-read, though, although a smaller content width may have made it even more readable.
The only show I watch from the list is House (albeit occasionally), and the main forum topics for that seem quite nice. I like how you explain each topic in just-enough detail, but maybe a picture of House would have been nice, to show clearly that the page is just for that one TV show.
For improvements, I'd suggest either changing the layout or the header, and DEFINITELY changing the colour scheme. What it is right now is a little boring to look at - maybe include themes as well, so that people can choose what they want the forum to look like? Good luck!

Spy_Master's Response:
There are themes. There are 14 other different themes that users can choose from. There's a selector at the bottom for it. It is possible to put an override on to make a theme override the users style choose for forums so that would be a way to show that it was on that section for a show. Personally though I prefer giving the users a chance to choose. Something to think about though. Thank you for your review.

on 21st Nov 2008 and said:Oh, looks like an interesting forum content-wise. Huge TV show addict speaking ;) However, the structure of the forum is confusing.
First thing I noticed is the "Fuelling The Addiction" section. Why are there only 6 shows listed? What about all the other great shows out there? I could name about 20 from the top of my head, which all deserve just as much (or even more) attention that those you listed. You should seriously consider adding more shows, or adding a section to discuss various shows. I guess that would also come with getting rid of the grid view and replacing it with the regular list view for shows.
The second thing I find confusing is are the subforums for the 6 shows and the Pain Killer sections. Personally I think subforums are immensely confusing, and I prefer to have *all* forums listed on one single side. I'm not sure if that's possible for your forum software, but it's definitely better for usability. I really don't like having to click 5 times to find what I'm looking for. Sometimes less is more.
The header is very nice. But the rest of the layout is not very original, it's just an average forum layout with very little customization. You should consider spicing it up with CSS to really get a "Wow!" effect - add more color, get rid of the grey, give the layout a fixed width instead of a making it fluid, get rid of all those black borders, etc. The "Profile", "Send aim", "home", "find", "buddy" buttons in the posts look a little out of place. The font is way too small and most of the button is just a blank swirl - bigger fonts with less background would increase usability a lot.
I like the random quote at the bottom, but it's barely visible - you should maybe put it at the top and make the font bigger and italic ;)

Spy_Master's Response:
The six shows are the featured shows. Most TV messageboards have a focus of a show or more than one. We feature those six. Other shows can be discussed within the off topic section. I hear what you're saying about all the subforums. There are hundreds for it because of the various sections. I'll have a think to see if there's anything I can do about it. The board software would definitely let me display them all but the user would be scrolling forever. Thank you for your review.

on 21st Nov 2008 and said:I don't really like the whole layout. The colors are bland and not very appealing. I also don't like how the icons for the different boards are so big. Another thing that bothers me is that there are big icons for those 6 shows right in the middle of the boards. It just doesn't flow.
I think your forums would look a lot more appealing with a more colorful layout. :)

on 21st Nov 2008 and said:Well, this review is going to be short since I am not a member of this forum and therefore do not know how it works, or what the atmosphere is like. The header image is nice, but the entire layout is very monochromatic and doesn't really capture my attention.
I don't watch any of those shows (in fact, I only watch The Office and The Big Bang Theory, really : ), so I can't really comment on them. Also, it means that this forum wouldn't really spark my interest even if the design was astounding.
The headings (like "pain killer," "support group.") are quite funny. :)
That's all I can say, really! As I said, forums are difficult to review, unfortunately.
