SQUEE , i didn't know awesome people like you used re.view.me XD.

Ahh first, all of your tutorials are well written, and easy to understand.

one tinsy winsy problem that i have found was that in the skinning sites tutorial the links on the bottom were 404 errors when i tried clicking on them (yes, i was being lazy XD)

also, on your sidebar you should make the re.view.me link should be your referrer link so you can gets points :) , but this is only a tiny unnecessary suggestion.

Your layout is definitely professional and easy to look at. It's also easy to tell that the owner is a girl because the base colors are light and include pink :)

i also like the feature where you can allow visitors to submit their own code snippets, and that really speaks to the web design community.

& , i don't know if this is just me but whenever i click on a link on your site my cursor goes dull when i hover somewhere else and it still shows the title="" thing, for example lets say the links title was phpscripts.com , i would see that wherever my cursor goes for a few seconds

It was a honor to review your site :) I hope my review helps in anyway

    LAYOUT:
The layout is very user friendly, which I like. It has simple colors, and isn't too busy, which tells me that it is straight to the point. I like how it has a simple but cute background, and it is easy to navigate. It has both navigation at the top for quick links, and navigation on the left side. I like the use of icons to help tell me what each category is about.

    CONTENT:
Some of the content which I really enjoy is the script reviews, the scripts themselves, and handy links on the right. There are many good tutorials under each category, and they are all written in great detail, and with time and effort. I have been to this site before for coding help in the past, and found it very helpful.

    OVERALL:
I would recommend this site to anyone needing help on the web. It has everything a web addict like myself would be looking for. :)

The layout is simple, And has very enhanced Coding (if that makes much sense.)

    Tutorials:
From CSS, To HTML, Is all I have read so far; But they are very well written And, give good Examples of your goal in each one to achieve.

    X/HTML Tutorials:
All four "Basic HTML" Tutorials are quit good and go together so I thought I would skip them :)

Everything In between "Basic HTML" And, "Validating" Is interesting and good.

And the Validation tutorials do great for beginners :)

PHP And MySQL Are really areas where I'm still A beginner. :P But, As I read them I'm ACTUALLY learning something from each one!

Javascript, Another one of my weak spots. Tip top tutorials :D

    Graphics:
I new everything on the one tutorial.
But its good to those who don't!

    Other/Misc:
Not much to say, Very nicely organized HUGE list of tutorials explaining how to use different things along with things like, Bella books or, the very useful Colour Guide.

Otherwise, I love the way the sites set up.
It has great organization and, Unlike most people, Detailed tutorials!

4 1/2 stars; Would rate it five but, I did not have time to go though it enough.

I always know that if I want to learn how to do something right in the coding world, this web site is the one to go to. Jem's site is my coding bible (yeah sucks to be you Pixelfx!) and is the simplest site to understand. It was here I learned how to clean up my coding, learn XHTML, and overall be a better coder. I even used this site as a go-to in my speech on how to create a web page. If only other tutorial sites could be as clean, organized, and SIMPLE as Jem's site is. *bows*

Hi Jem=) I am Bubblez=) Hehe, I am sure in this review, there will be only good points ;) lol:) Anyways, i may be a little harsh in some areas but I hope you don't mind=P

    000. Site Name Originality
It fits perfectly after all your site is about your tutorials. It is original. Easy to remember and type into
    the address bar.

    001. Layout
Professional. Colors match quite well. Original. CSS is easy on the eyes. I don't feel like I need to validate
your site through a HTML/CSS validation since I am sure that I won't find any errors. ^^

    002. Tutorials
I love your tutorials. Most of your tutorials are easy to understand and is suitable for all ages and levels.
It is also unique in how you written each tutorial. The screenshots are in a good size. Not much to complaint
here. However, I think you should add more to your 'graphics' category. It looks empty. :(

    003. Overall
Like most reviewers, your site had helped me a lot in some areas. You should update more through. Also in my opinion, you shouldn't compare your site to another site.. it is just not nice even though it is true ;) But that is just me. Great work with all the tutorials and keep up with it=)

While a lot of people would look at Tutorialtastic and think the layout is plain, I think that it more than adequately serves its purpose. It is clean but not boring and it is made clear that the content that is the real treasure of the site.

I've always been a big fan of blue and pink used together in web design and Tutorialtastic definitely shows why they can work so well together. Overall the design is pleasing to the eyes, but the colours are used in such as a way as to draw the eyes' attention to the right places.

The one thing I don't quite like is the gradient behind the main navigation strip. It seems a little off in comparison to the rest of the layout - I almost get the impression of something being missing, but am unable to put my finger on it (and as you can imagine, that is very annoying indeed).

As mentioned above, the main reason for visiting Tutorialtastic is the content, and in this section Tutorialtastic succeeds - and in a way, falls flat.

Why is that? Because it has been sorely neglected over the last few weeks, nay, months! The last update was in March, and it is currently December. While the current resources there are very useful, it would be nice to see the collection grow even more. A few of the resources are a little out of date or are simply not needed due to updated scripts (does anyone use Wordpress 1.5?)

Each section has plenty of resources that even people like me (who do know what they are doing) can refer to if for some reason something slips their mind - and of course they are great for beginners. Each step of each tutorial is well thought-out and clearly written to cater to the beginners (while not being dumbed down). And the converters are especially great - I know I have used the code converter for many a page and even reviews here on rev.iew.me.

Overall Tutorialtastic is ultimately better than pixelfx - it just needs a lot more love and attention these days.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This might not be very helpful but I want to try and review every single site eventually so I must input on Tutorialtastic! :)

    First Impression:

I have always been of the opinion that Tutorialtastic (herein referred to as "TT") just looks like a happy place. That sounds pretty corny but the colors are 'baby' blue and 'baby' pink; so in a weird, twisted way it reminds me of us, being the babies, coming to a pretty and well decorated nursery room where we can develop and learn. How off the wall is THAT first impression??

    Originality:

I must say (and without any ass kissing, mind you) that TT has got unique tutorials that are easy to learn from. The set-up is original and all of the content is hand-written by you, which makes it that much more valuable. I guess the originality section shall be short, too. Not much to say when someone is actually original on the net!

    Coding:

HAHA, should I even go here?? You are the reason so many people out there can code now. For the sake of the cameras, I shall check with the W3C validators.

*shock horror* I spy one XHTML error!

    Line 27, Column 205: NET-enabling start-tag requires SHORTTAG YES.

Not sure what that is all about, so I will leave it up to you. I feel kind of naughty for looking at your naked CSS, too. (insert evil, pervvy grin here)

Er, one more thing. I believe there is an extra {/ul} under your affiliates. Other than those two minor things, hip hip hooray!

    Design:

The only thing that really bothers me about the design is the footer being a darker grey. Somehow it seems a bit out of place being so dark when the rest of the colors are light and fluffy. I keep looking at it and looking at the rest of the layout and it's not bad at all... it's just something that kind of makes me wonder if it would look better with a different color altogether or just a lighter grey. You know, I do believe if you made it pink and matched the navigation that it would look divine. I'm sure you had thought of this, though, and had reason to make it a different color.

Strange, design is usually the most lengthy part of my reviews. I really just adore it I suppose. Everything contrasts nicely and there are no "rough edges", so to speak. How very curious...! Moving along?

    Content:

Due to the fact that you are the 1337 PHP Ninja and I am not, I can't really go in and say things like, "This tutorial on quantum php-ness is grand my good lady, but may I suggest you add the parse of mode to the comparison operators?"

Wow, if that did not make you laugh out loud I don't know what will!

Anywho, I have a major complaint I would like to register about TT right now. I have been waiting months to register! I want to be a super-cool member, too! D:

When I go to the login screen it literally says this (and it made me laugh a bit):

Log in to your tutorialtastic account to [.. features here ..]

    :)

The Javascript and Graphics section are lacking, but you are too awfully busy to do much on those I believe. I still can't believe all the work you do, it floors me.

    Final Thoughts:

You should let us register and make us very happy..! I might be able to reach into my brain and help write some kind of uber-cool tutorial for the graphics section if I was a member or something.

I give 5 out of 5 stars because there are no major coding errors, it's an extremely original site, and the design is very aesthetically pleasing. I really do think the site deserves high marks, awesome job! :)

    Jem's Response:

Thanks Mimi, although you're officially a weirdo :p

Tutorialtastic is due for some major changes by the end of the year, which is why registration is closed. However, if you wanted to submit graphics tutorials I could arrange for that to happen - just email me with what you had in mind.

Thanks for the heads up about the validation error too.. erk!

I had sooo much trouble with div layouts that required more than one div on top of another in one column type. I couldn't get handle on the float thing and this site not only fixed everything, but it rejuvenated my love for all things web design. I've been doing it off and on for over ten years and I still have oodles to learn, most of which I'm sure I'll get eventually at TT.

It might sound nerdy, but after I found the site and realized how well-written the tutorials were, I pulled out a legal pad and started to make notes so I could refer to them when I wasn't online. I'm such a dork.

*smooches to Jem* Thanks for all that you do :)

Tutorialtastic has well-written, high quality tutorials for everyone. From true beginners who know nothing about HTML to people in the middle who want to learn how to condense their stylesheets to people like me who want to learn a bit about PHP, Tutorialtastic has it all. Or maybe I shouldn't say it has it all, since there aren't TONS of tutorials. However, the quality makes up for the lack of overwhelming quantity, since all of the tutorials are ACTUALLY helpful - they're about things that people actually should know about and are clear, easy to follow, and well-written. There's none of this "let's take something extremely basic and add a generic two-line tutorial to flesh out my crappy personal site's content" nonsense, which I truly appreciate. I also adore the CSS templates and think they're a great resource - I usually point reviewees with no notion of semantics in their direction!

As for the design of Tutorialtastic, I'm not *too* impressed. The logo (I believe Jacky made it?) is really cute, and everything is, in true Jem fashion, well laid-out, accessible, and semantic - we should expect nothing less! I think my main concern lies in the colour scheme. I'm really not a fan of the shade of pink that's been used, and I don't particularly like the blue and the pink together. I'm also not really loving the gradient on the header - it looks a bit dated to my highly untrained eye. These are minor issues, though, and there's nothing that makes my eyes hurt or distracts me from the content, which is what's really important here, and I think I'll live. I use Tutorialtastic as a reference all the time, and its design hasn't stopped me from doing so! Getting past the colour scheme, the details are nice - the icons, the "ultimately better than pixelfx" in the footer (which makes me smile), the positioning of the search bar, the striped background.

My final problem with TT is that it's not updated very often. I would love to see more tutorials added more frequently, but, contrary to popular butthurt teenybopper belief, Jem DOES have a life and about a thousand projects going on, so I can see why that might not be possible!

In all, TT is a fantastic resource and I often use it as a reference or give other people links to Jem's tutorials. I'm not a huge fan of the design and I wish there were more tutorials, but overall it's an excellent website.

I like this site a lot. There's various tutorials that even a beginner can learn. I also like the simple layout she has made as it won't take a long time to load the site :) (For those who are having difficulties with their internet connections) The size of the font is big enough for people (ME) to read.

One thing that I would like to learn is how she placed up the You are here: Home >> (page name) thing. :ll I've read almost all the tutorials in your site. The tutorials of Xhtml helped me a lot and she also replies to every single questions I e-mailed her. There are a lot of useful tutorials that I've learnt from there.

This site is also very easy to navigate. The navigations are located under the header and the left hand side. The visitor (ME) will not have to look up and down for the navigation! Oh and another thing I like on this site is the small header.. because of this small header, I don't have to keep on scrolling down to look at the content! Simple and easy :P

However, the site has not been updated for quite some time.. the previous update was on March :( I'm looking forward for more interesting and nice tutorials! :)

I love Tutorialtastic because it is cute and teaches me about stuff. I mean, if I have to learn about coding, I want to do it in baby pinks and blues.

Also, the tutorials are very easy to follow. TT taught me at least 20% of everything I know. Sometimes, I just go hang out there because I have nothing to do, and I need something to read, and I just read stuff, even if I don't really want/need to know how to do it.

It really is an all-out resource for anyone who wants to start a website, or improve their current one.

TT has helped me quite a bit over the time it's been up. You would think that things you use on a regular basis would not be things you would forget but sometimes it's the easiest thing. I know I can count on TT to be there if there's something that I know I know but I'm forgetting. I use the MD5 hasher constantly or at least I used to until I found a coding editor that had one built in (which is quite handy).

It's also a great place to learn new techniques and skills. My favorite part of TT is the PHP/MySQL section since I am constantly wanting to learn new things relating to that. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish it was updated more. I know how time consuming it is to complete a tutorial, however, so I don't get too bent out of shape about it.

Without Tutorialtastic I would still be using iframes and tables. And if I was to use divs, I would be putting a center tag around the whole thing because I'd never had heard of this "centering cheat".

Tutorialtastic has a layout that is very easy on the eyes. I wish that the color scheme had been a little bit different, such as blues or even reds/oranges. When I see the pink and blue, I think of babies. Other than the layout, TT is very easy to navigate through with the large menu on the top and breadcrumb right underneath it. If you still aren't able to find something then you might want to try using the search function.

I first learned how to make menus with lists through TT two wonderful tutorials on how to do this; both vertically and horizontally. The MySQL tutorials finally opened up the doors for me when I read through them. They have easy to understand instructions for basic beginners. Jem's tutorial on "Understanding Graphics for the Web" made me switch from always using PNGs to a lot of JPGs and GIFs.

Finally, the thing that makes me come back as a regular visitor is the code converter. Whenever I write a blog entry that involves coding in it, I'll open a new tab and type in Tutorialtastic's URL and use that code converter.

I'd recommend TT to anyone who is stuck on a simple problem or someone like me that is too lazy to make a simple "gadget". :)

Tutorialtastic has tutorials for everyone - beginners, intermediates and experts. I found some PHP tutorials I used and implemented them in my site (the changing title).
This site has tutorials you don't find on other tutorial sites which makes in unique.

The site has other neat things like converters and downloads.

The latest tutorials are posted on the index page, so you're always up to date.

I really like that the site doesn't only have the "typical" tutorials, but also explains different things in articles, like "Classes and IDs: What's The Difference?" in css or "Understanding Graphics for the Web".

Tutorialtastic is easy to navigate as well. Very nice!

I like to think my skills are good enough not to need a tutorial site to show me what to do, but I often find myself at Tutorialtastic brushing up on almost everything.

It's hard to get lost at Tutorialtastic, which makes it an excellent resource for those unfamiliar with tutorial websites. If you're unable to find what you're looking for via the menu, the search feature instantly finds anything and everything... within the boundaries of the keyword/s you entered.

I'm particularly fond of the design as it's simple but not boring. The sidebar displays everything I think it needs to and then some. (Jem - the sitemap link takes you to Jemjabella's sitemap rather than Tutorialtastic's).
