Personal site with a minimum of content, but an amazingly funny blog (just my humble opinion)..

Just a quick review! I'm Olivia.

Totally love the design. Your intentions of wanting to create a site that reflected you is spot on in my book. All these personal sites nowadays follow such a generic formula and it's totally refreshing to come across a personal blog willing to show themselves as well as talk as and about themselves.

In my eyes, saying you have minimal content is silly because technically YOU are the content (does that make sense?) and that makes every page something worth while to read because YOU wrote it. I didn't really make that point very well, but I hope you get what I'm saying!

I also appreciate that your blogs are topics of discussion and interest. I also love that some blogs are one-liners - it shows that it was on your mind and you had to express it at the time :D

Your about page is perfect, I wouldn't change anything there. Gotta love your personal quote!

So your archive links featured articles? The navigation name being 'archives' might put some visitors off (those who can't be bothered to go through past blogs) so renaming it 'Articles' might be more worthwhile.

Overall I simply love your site as it embodies my vision of how a personal site should be! Why pack a personal site with graphics no one is going to use when you could just be you? I would love to see more posts! I don't think any changes need to be made, as I believe the site is perfect as it is. :)

    layout:

even tho i like your layout, something's just not right for me. it seems like two different layouts put together. yes, i'm talking about your super-duper colorful menu and the the greyish-brown rest of the page. but if that reflects you, then be it - who am i to talk you into your personality? :)

    content:

it's just your personal blog and i like that very much, because i'm doing exactly the same thing. i like the way you write and i also like that when you said it's "an amazingly funny blog" you weren't lying, because it really is entertaining.

    overall:

there's not much on your blog, but there's nothing missing and that's just how it should be. your layout looks kinda different and doesn't really fit with me, but it's not about your coding skills or anything, it's about what you like and who you are.

    i like your blog.

    keep it up! :)

    cecelia's Response:

First of all: Thank you for your review..

I really like the fact that something "doesn't fit", because I wanted something that reflected me - and something clean and simple just didn't do that. Buut maybe that's not really the way to go with something that should also be attractive for others to look at.. I will definitely think about it! :)

    Thank you, again!

    ===================================

    Layout
I like the torn paper look at your header, and even the swirly brushes in the right corner and the fingerprint ones at the left. I like the navigation tabs, but I think the colours don't go well with the red colour of your title. I like the four colours of the tabs together, but the red just doesn't quite fit. The face while nice, also does not fit into the overall/concept/feel of this layout. I like your footer held in place with the little piece of tape. :) However the large gap/margin at the bottom of the page is a little annoying. Just a suggestion regarding your blockquotes, the bluey colour doesn't blend or compliment your current layout. Also the green hover colour makes me squint when I try to read it. And this is just really minor, but the comments have a <li> that half appears in the line splitting the content area from the background, it's just a bit out of place. Perhaps adding in list-style-type: none; to your CSS for that section of code. Also when I tried to check the validation of your CSS, the validator could not find it due to the space in the folder name (NINJA THEME).

    About
Your about you photo is very cool looking. And I love one of your reasons as to why your site is here because it is what I would write on my site (if I kept it up to date that is). Wait, now that I've read through the section fully, I love both of your reasons :D

    Links
Pretty much straightforward, nothing I can really add other than maybe some explanation as to what the links are/where they are pointing to, or even if you are feeling adventurous why you have these specific sites linked.

    Archives
With the NINJA articles heading I would suggest making it the same style as your main page heading, but the rest is fine.

    Overall
The layout is very interesting, and with a few small changes it will be even better. The content is well written, and well thought out (as far as I can see, err read).

Layout: I really like the layout idea, it's so original, and it looks pretty too. The red you used goes well with the layout, but I'm not too sure about the other colours on the navigation. Maybe you could use different shades of red instead of the random colours - there's no use of the other colours elsewhere that I can see on the site.
Blog: Your blogs are kinda random, like, they don't have any introduction or anything, but I actually like it. The content of your blogs varies a lot as well, so that's obviously going to keep your viewers interested in coming back each day to see what you have to say.
Archives: Some interesting archives you posted - I like the Curriculum Vitae one actually, I found it really funny.
About: I like how you've not made things too complicated by writing things about you in huge paragraphs. Short and sweet, the way viewers like. Otherwise they get bored easily.

I actually really like the site. I think some things could be adjusted, but even so, it's great. Keep it up! :)

The layout is quite pretty and there's much to be said about originality! The whole torn paper effect is pretty and yet, quite simple. Overall, the site gives a pretty good first impression that intrigues me to keep on reading and exploring.

Everything fits very nicely and I only have one or two things to add that might make your layout a bit better. I think that you should maybe incorporate some more images into your layout by maybe having a different background for the comments link, a image for the h1 header, and something for the comments just to make everything more...fitted.

A very interesting about me page that is quite witty and funny. It's great to learn about people who have a sense of humor. :)

As for content, you don't have much; but you are just a personal blog site so I would say that blogs would count as content.

Overall, you have a very nice little blog site going on and your blogs are actually very interesting to read.

The layout is unique and I like the torn paper theme, maybe add the rough edges to the sides of your content container as well, if possible. I think that would even add a bit more to it. The tabs are a nice idea, I'm not a big fan of the colors but that's just a personal preference. The only thing that doesn't really seem to fit is the face. I dunno but I find it a bit out of place with all the other things. It's very smooth and soft while everything else is rough and textured. Or maybe that's what you were going for?

Anyways, moving on, just scanning a few of your entries, they are interesting to read, your about page is complete enough. Maybe a short blip about your life or something would be nice but not necessary.

You have a nice ammount of links, and it would be nice to see some text explaining what sites they are, just something short.

Overall your blog is nice, not much visitor content but that's not a bad thing. Your entries are pretty interesting and that's what counts.
