Hi, I'm Baohan and I'm going to review your site. :) First of all, I'm not a big fan of pre-made layouts sites unless they are utterly professional. And within this review, I'm going to (try and) point out what's wrong and what's right.

First Impression: I see a guy, he looks like a movie star to me. Is he? You tell me. I don't really like stolen celebrities pictures at all. I like clean design which truly belongs to you. I mean, you are not going to sell those picture which you stole. Are you?

Design/Coding: Clearly you can see that I dislike your design but I like the concept and the colours you chose. Your coding is a little wrong. If you validate your website, I think it will be okay. It scares me a little bit that you are still coding with tables. I think a DIV layout would be more suffient. You can have a read at TutorialTastic on how to. Not that there's anything wrong with coding in tables though.

Okay, a glance at your blog: Your blogs are short and talk about the contents all the time. There is a point because your site is about designing.

I think that there are some problems with your links because none of them seems to work for me whilst I'm on Firefox but even with IE6 and 7, the links don't work for me as well so I'm thinking that you will need to fix on it.

Conclusion: I haven't seen much of your site or anything yet but when I do, I shall continue. But my thoughts for now is that your website isn't the type that I would put money on and if I were you, I will not use the celebrities layout because there is no originality in it. It's just a man with a beard. (At least now I know that it's Shila LeBeof) :) You spell his name that way, right?

    Hi there :)

Basically for all my websites in the past I went to designers' sites like yours, as I was a lazy and impatient bum that couldn't be bothered to ever create my own designs! So I browsed every design site under the sun, watched new ones pop up, and old ones die away.

Obviously there are free design sites and then paid sites. There are unfortunately some that shouldn't really be charging money for their services, and I'm very sorry to say that I think you shouldn't be charging money for your designs either. When you want web owners to give you money for a layout, a level of trust is involved. Every little detail from your website will be taken into account, from CSS, spelling, how you word things, etc. This little article here might be of use to you :)

Your site overall is not that bad, but as a designer, I feel perhaps you should practice offering graphics and layouts free of charge to develop your skills first. At the moment your layouts aren't very original. Take a look at some successful charging teen-boppery design sites, and see what makes them tick (e.g. Speak Designs, Elements Inc
). Find something unique about YOUR design site, and web owners will come running for that special something.

Hello, I'm Scott and I am going to be reviewing your website today.

Firstly, I don't think your designs are that stylish at all. I see this sort of thing EVERYWHERE and it is really boring me now. On my resolution (1440x900), the background only covers half of the page. I don't know if this is intentional, but it is really off-putting. Also, the header has a certain amount of red background either side of it, so when you scroll up and down on your website it looks really weird. I suggest cutting the header out properly and changing the positions so it sits straight. Maybe even try centering the design? I'm also not very keen on image mapping, but that's just my personal preference.

Moving on... the CSS is pretty small, but readable. Maybe increase the font-size by another 1 - 2px and increasing the line-height - alot! This will make the typeface a lot easier to read, and I also think you should make the font-colour a dark grey colour and make the link colour that reddish-brown. The headers are very boring... try using a different font. You also need to make them bigger because at the moment everything merges together and looks a bit dull. Also, add a little padding underneath the Cbox, because at the moment it looks a little 'uneasy'. It is touching the bottom of the page.

CUTENEWS? Are you being serious? I don't know how many more times this has to be said, but it is an extremely unsafe script! Try Fanupdate or WordPress, either are just great!

Your prices are very cheap, but I don't know who would buy from you. I don't mean this is a horrible way, though. I've seen many other websites offer similar layouts for free! And they're coded.

I'm not reviewing your pages because you are a 'design' website. Good luck with it, though!

Hello, I am Lyndsay and I will review your website. I am viewing your website in Mozilla Firefox and my screen resolution is 1280 x 800.

Your layout doesn't really humour me. I don't like the way you have used the font or the image. I think that the font looks out of place and to be honest, tacky. I am not the biggest fan of image-mapped layouts, and this could be the reason why. The image you have used looks like you have used the magic wand tool to cut it out and then you've smoothed it. It looks way to smooth for somebody to have cut it out themselves. It also looks over sharpened.

I'm not a fan of the way you have positioned your coding. The gaps you have left make the whole of your page look tacky. I think your page might look better if you centre your layout. It makes it look more professional. Also I don't like the brown stripe down the side of the background; I would much more prefer it if it was all covered with the red pattern.

Portfolio: Overall it looks like a nice design. I dislike the way you have the person. The way the left side fades spoils it for me. I think it would look a lot nicer if it had just been cut out normally. I think it also looks a lot like the main page. If you changed the background colour to a blue or a brown it might help it look more different. I'm not completely sure.

Packages: You don't put $ signs in so 4.5 could mean 4.5 peas or 4.5 chocolate bars. 4.5 elephants..

Requests: It would look a lot more professional if you would use proper bullets instead of using what you are. Also most people will get bored reading all those rules; I suggest getting rid of the ones no one cares about. I don't get why you have "you must add an extra $1" why can't you just add this to the price so it’s nothing to worry about for the buyer/so they don't get confused. And plus, this would mean getting rid of an extra rule. And you say "the image word is Shia Lebeouf." If I am correct Shia Lebeouf it two words, not one.

Some rules you could get rid of or change:
"You must pay me full amount before I make your order." How do I know you aren't going to rip me off? You could just keep all the money yourself and not make me anything! You could at least say "pay half and then I will make the design blah blah blah and then you pay the other half..."

"You must pay in USD currency." Isn't this already put on the packages page? You do say 4.5 <s>elephants</s> USD.

"You must own a website. All sites accepted!" First off, why would I want a design if I didn't own a website? Because I have spare cash to blow? Hmm... Secondly, wouldn't you benefit from this person even if they didn't have a website?

"Do not remove any links or tags I put on the graphic or coding. Do not edit it." If I am buying it, why can't I edit it? I kind of understand the whole "tags" thing, but say if I wanted to edit my welcome message...?

"You must add an extra $1 to your purchase (transfer fee)." Already explained. You could save a lot of confusion.

"If you don't pay within 3 days your order will be declined." This is more of a statement then a rule. I suggest you remove this from the "Rules" and put it in its own paragraph. Or even add it to the bottom of the "Your order" bit.

Extras: There’s not really that much to say for your PSDs. None of them are perfectly cut. They either look way too smooth or they still have bits of white background. Sometimes the magic wand tool isn't all that magic. It looks quite unorganised too; you could put them in alphabetical order with their names above them or separate them off or something. They just look like a load of images one by one; there isn't a notice saying "click to download" or anything... The FAQ isn't really a FAQ, is it? It’s an ask and answer form. FAQ means frequently asked questions meaning you have been asked a question frequently... When I clicked FAQ I expected to see a page filled with questions and answers. E.G. "What program do you use to create your graphics?" "I use Photo Shop CS2." But I was mistaken... So please rename this page to ask and I'll answer or something along those lines. I would consider "FAQ" and "Contact me" as pages that belong in the website category. Also the "Tutorials" thing you have going on is useless unless you actually have tutorials.

Website: I can't complain about the affiliate’s page.
As for the application page, I'm not really a fan of it leading you to a page off your website. You can get free forms that can be embedded into your coding. I think you should create some more link back buttons in a variety of sizes. You have loads of 100x35, but no other sizes. I think the past layouts page would look better centred, I don't know if it’s just me, but I've always thought these kind of pages look better centred.

Other: I don't like it when I hover over a link and it spaces out. I noticed on your sidebar you have a few useless things. In the orders section they are all crossed out! What’s the point in them being there? Aren't elite affiliates and top affiliates the same thing? Even if they're not you have a "more" link at the bottom of the top affiliates section, and if you have no affiliates why would there be more?

I also think that some of your prices are expensive, you know, with the credit crunch biting and all..

You probably now hate me. I don't think your website is BAD, I just think it could do with some improvements.

Woah! What's the significance of the hauntingly scary bearded man wearing a tie and a cardigan in the (slow-to-load, in-need-of-compressing) header image? It's a massive masthead to the site, and it is a stark contrast to the tiny text and stuff below it.

Also, what's with the "Hollywood.com Fan Site" thing at the very top?

Regarding the title tag, I have a few concerns. (I know it's ludicrous to be concerned by what is nothing more than a simple title tag, but there you go.) First of all, why is "STYLISH DESIGNS" in capital letters? And why is there a string of &nbsps at the very end, creating a baffling gap?

Looking at the markup, I see that it's a perplexing cacophony of misused tables and stuff. It would be nice for a start if your CSS were in a separate file, pointed to by a link, rather than residing in the inline style tag and being downloaded constantly - with a separate file, it can be "cached", and there's the added benefit of not having to update of (although since you're using CuteNews, the latter is not a problem so much. Why are you using CuteNews, by the way? I've heard very bad things about it. Have you considered the widely acclaimed Textpattern or WordPress?)

Oh well. It's a nice looking site, very much so - well done on that. It would be even nicer if the content was in the middle (margin:0 auto; is the CSS you'll want for that), and there was a bit more space between the main column and the sidebar.

Finally: why, when I hover over a small minority of links, should the cursor change to an s-resize thing? I for a moment thought I was going to be allowed to resize some element of the page, and got all excited - imagine my annoyance, confusion, despair and shock when it transpired that they're just normal links. Please, let us be shown normal link-style pointer cursors, and stop the not-very-"user-friendly" tinkering.

    First Impression/layout:
Nice layout. It's organized, neat, and easy to read. I would just suggest that you should center your layout; it just seems off right now. Also, consider using rollovers for your navigation, I think it would look nicer.
Also, don't make your background fixed. When I scrolled down, I noticed the edge of the layout because of the pattern.

    Content:
Not much to say; everything is straight forward.
I think for your portfolio you should show what you have made for other people, so people get a general idea of how everything looks when you code it & everything.
Overall, I think it's pretty good. Also, don't go too overboard on celebrity images. This is important because not only do all of your graphics have celebrity images in them, you're selling the content as well, which may have some copyright issues involved.

    Site/Domain:
I think that you should have the affiliation application link on your affliates page. Having it in 2 places shouldn't hurt.
Your contact/FAQ part should go under 'website', not extras.

Overall, your site is pretty good, just don't use too much celebrity images. Your site has good potential, good luck with it in the future!

While I have some good and some picky things to say about your site, the one massive problem I see with this site is that you are not only using celebrity images (presumably) without authorisation but you are attempting to sell work with unauthorised celebrity images which I presume is illegal in your area of residence. I'm not even sure you are allowed to have the celebrity image PSDs in your Extras section.

Now onto some site points which I'm just going to list as I see them:

I like the base design (the top menu and the general royal theme).
I'm not a massive fan of the colour and effect on your serif "Stylish Designs" text though as I think it comes across as a little artificial and clashes too much with the flatter / more realistic text in your header menu.

One problem I noticed (using FF2 on XP64) was that because you have included some of the royal type background as part of your header image, when I scroll downwards I get a bit of a disconcerting bad matchup effect with the actual royal background.

On a picky note, when I highlight any link on the page it changes size (never a good thing in my experience) and uses a vertical scroll cursor rather than the pointer cursor that is expected. On a similar picky note your "Welcome" message (which is fine) should say "back soon." at the end, not "backsoon." (you missed a space :P).

I'm not sure why but your portfolio opens in a new window. While there is some debate over whether links should ever open a new window, I am unsure why the portfolio link in particular does this.

To me your FAQ section seems the same as your Contact section but this may just be because there are no current FAQs up - presumably FAQs end up being published on this page?

The "Need asssistance with this form" links on the Contact and FAQ pages do not currently work (the site you redirect to says you didn't provide contact information).

From a coding perspective you need to look into validation of your CSS and HTML if this is something that you can do with your chosen site platform as this may improve your search engine ranking and helps your site render correctly across multiple browsers. It is also a good sign of a professional.

Your coding gets the job done as far as I can see and it is good to see you aren't using tables for layout but maybe you need to look at how others achieve similar effects and see if different ways of achieving the same goal make the code more concise and structured. For instance, I would be looking at breaking up your header image and avoiding the use of map/area. I'd also look at avoiding absolute positioning in favour of a floated layout.

Overall I like the general apperance of what you are doing and it is great that you have a nice amount of content and are really into what you do. I think you have great potential if you analyse my advice and take on the advice of others here who will no doubt give a more in-depth review. You seem really interested in what you are doing and have a lot of enthusiasm and potential so best of luck improving your skills!
