on 7th Feb 2009 and said:First Impression: Kind of dark and plain. The top is like a huge black blob. I originally viewed your site in 1280 x 1024 resolution in Firefox before coming and writing this review.
Content: The podcasts are obvious a huge part of what the site is all about. However, I am not seeing much into describing more about these particular podcasts. Perhaps give images and/or SOMETHING to give potential new users a way to get more out of the site.
A forum would do great. I did not find any. For a site that is interactive, you should try a forum, that way your users can meet each other and talk about something in common. You might even find they would provide more input on how to make the site better.
Coding: I put it through the validator to test the semantics of your site and came up with it unable to validate the site. That is actually a first, so I went to view the source of the index page. In your source, at the top, you are missing some simple quotations in your charset and utf-8 meta tag. You have a hidden attribute in the second line of your code for the page author. A suggestion is to make a meta tag with the author's name and email. Some of your span styles should have labled css classifications and put into your page's CSS reference (global.css).
Design: Your colors are not bad, but they are dark and your text is stark white. There is nothing that stands out to me on why I should use this site versus others that have a similar focus.
The font/ typography is fine except size. I think that your text is too small. Try 12px for the size. Even people under 30 can have problems reading a site. For some dyslexic like I am, it makes it just as hard.
Try something different with the top area. Perhaps all in a crisp black area with rounded corners or without would make it better.
Somehow you need more color variation. You have that light blue in the 7 of your main site name, but not real accents or anything to graphic your viewers attention.
In your sidebar, I cannot click on your hyperlinked text to navigate. Something is interfering with that. However, I can navigate using the main navigation.
Summary: I like the idea of the site, but as I said for the type of site it is, it does not grab my interest and it strong falls upon the design as a first impression. There are bloggers with enticing sites that give more than what you are. I give kudos for getting this far with the following that you have built, however, it could potentially increase by applying better semantics and even information.
As a last idea to think about, and an interesting one, why not have a blog along with the website as an addition. It would also provide an interactive part to the website.

Hi,
We have a forum however It's just recently had technical issues so when I released the site I didn't add it. However will be doing soon, so thanks for reminding me about that!
As I said to the use below I'm not to good on coding, but ill ask the Author to see what he can do about your suggestions
I'm Dyspraxic, so I understand the size issues you had, and I will defintly be thinking about increasing the size in the near future.
I have added cutenews which can act as a blog system to the home page, I will be hopefully getting it along with Wordpress soon but for now that will have to do until I have spare cash!
Thanks for your superb review, and thanks for viewing the site :)

on 6th Feb 2009 and said:Hi, I will be reviewing you on Firefox in a 1280x800 resolution.
My first impression of the site is confusion. At first, I have no clue what the Top 7 Show is and your welcome message just says it's a show but doesn't really go into detail. Maybe add more insight, like what you put on this page here: "The Top 7 Show is a Weekly Show which gives the listeners of TT7 a chance to vote for their favourite 3 out of a random selected 7 out of the UK Top 50." Also, I would suggest changing the color of your links on your main navigation because it blends in with the text. Another suggestion would be making the text links smaller on the navigation because it is overpowering your logo. Also, what is the difference between "About" and "TT7"? They both provide stuff about the show and they have the same header (About the Top 7 Show!). I would suggest making your logo a link that returns to the main page. It's easier for your visitors and they won't have to go through the hassle of clicking the back button several times. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that your sidebar and your main text have a slightly lighter shade of purple as a background. It seems kind of pointless to do that because you can barely see it. Either make the background color stand out more or just ditch the background altogether. The last thing I thought was strange was the question mark on the copyright. I don't understand why its there. Just put who it's copyrighted to or don't put anything there at all. Now on to the good things. I really like the color combo. The purple is a stunning shade and the purple and black combined makes your website give off a nightclubby feel. I think the above things I mentioned are basic css tweaks that are fairly simple. I hope this has helped you and looking forward to seeing how this website looks like in the future.

Hi,
Thanks for your review it's really helped!
I've changed the heading in about & TT7. I've also added a link from the home page from the logo on the main website.
I'll have a look at the CSS errors later on but i'm not that good at that tbh so ill ask someone else!
I'm also thinking about changing "Vote Now" on the home page into a about section on the home page, would this be a good idea for what you was talking about?
Thanks again for your review. :)

on 31st Jan 2009 and said:You said you only want first impressions... So ill give my first impression of the site. (im using firefox by the way).
I like the tow colours, purple and black, they go well together, and with the white text aswell. Most sites are black on white, but prefure white on black text myself, so thats a good point.
The layout of the site looks quite professional and i like how you have layed it all out.
The navigation is in a good place. Its easy to find... And stick out so visitors are not wondering 'Where is the pages!?' Its good.
One thing i noticed about this site... There is no link back to the homepage!?!?! The main heading saying 'the top 7 show' should really be a link to the hompage.
When i click 'Podcasts' the title says 'The show', just to let you know!! I dont think it should be like that?
Anyway, thats my first impressions of your site.
