on 12th May 2009 and said:Hi! I'm Mariel && I'm viewing your site in Firefox with 1280 x 800 resolution. Since there isn't really different types of content on your site, this will be pretty short!
Layout: I simply love your layout. It's simple & elegant but at the same time it makes me feel... happy. The colors are beautiful, you picked a really good color scheme. And I really like how you're navigation in the bottom just completely flows with the theme.
About: Your about to page is really good. You really talked about yourself a lot and that's great because it lets your visitors feel like they "know" you.
Overall: I found your blogs interesting and overall it's a really good blog page! Keep it up!
by the way, i'm bookmarking your blog! :D

on 28th Mar 2009 and said:-HOME: Seeing how this is a cute adorable small site, this review won’t be so long. First I love the font that says Oreliguesce or something. It’s pretty to stare at… ok, concentrate, this is a very small blog site but it’s very nice, simple yet unique. The design is cut close do the middle. The navigation is short and there’s still so much space that isn’t being used but it looks proper like a fancy dress. The font: size, color, and spaced out well, good contrast duh. The header in pink is cute but then the date isn’t, it’s large like the title font and it should be smaller in my opinion. Your comments system is impressive.
-ABOUT: There’s a lot on the About me page which is good, good amount of info on you, but you could add in a flower picture or a picture of yourself to connect better with readers. In fact, I think you have too too much about yourself. I mean sure the sites your personal blog but that’s overdoing it really. I think your QAs are basically FaQs, same deal just different name; I like how you organized all that very well done! The site info is so cute, easy to read and manage. I like your hover links! Hot pink always works with different shades of green!
-ARCHIEVES: wow, you have a lot of archives, make sure to have backups to this page, I recently lost all my entries since 2004! I was devastated because I didn’t have backups for that site. Now it’s too late. Take advice from an expert: save your entire site every week!
-FEED: rss is well, we all now, no comments there. Your bottom is nice and cute! You might have not made the design but you sure know how to use it! I really liked your simple site. A place to go when lives to hectic.

on 19th Feb 2009 and said:Layout I love the watermelon color scheme! The colors you chose are perfect for the layout. The minimalist style works really well for your site, and everything is very easy to read and draws my main attention to the blog. I really like the use of hovers, but there's no "visited" state for the links.
I don't really like the font used for the site title because it looks a bit flourishy and contrasts the site layout a little.
Organization I love how you did the footnotes (they look really good) and your replies to comments (in green!). The comment form is just lovely in how is displayed. It's remains very minimal, but it has it's own little touch.
The only problem with organization that I can find is how the sidebar is arranged. Sandwiched in between the about and archives link is the latest posts section. I think it should either be above or below those links because it looks a little misplaced right where it is.
Summary Colorful layout. Very focused. Fun blog. Good organization. Overall, you have a really nice site. :)
PS. Where did your list of links go?!?! I need feel my small number of 94 feeds in my feed reader is too small. :P

Thanks for the review, Tiffany! I can see what you're saying about the sidebar, so I'll probably change it.
I'll bring the links list back soon -- I didn't think anyone actually looked at it :P

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------HI KAYLEEEEEEE!! *waves frantically* I saw your site yesterday but got sidetracked. I have a feeling that there won't be much for me to help you improve on (no butt-kissing intended) but I figure I will pilfer through your site anyway and try to find something! Mwuahaha!
My first impression is that the layout is kind of plain, probably because I enjoy tons of design stuff everywhere. It's not boring, however, and I think it's due to the fancy site title or the random bouts of color that show up sometimes (more on this later). I think it could be jazzed up a bit but some people just prefer to keep it simple and clean and I believe you are one of them. Iunno.
I am not going to go through and check your coding because (even if it is a little unfair) I know you from the circle of friends I keep as well and I know you are probably using semantic coding and I would just waste a bunch of time checking.
I shall skip directly to the design elements! :D Since I don't have many complaints I do so hope you won't mind if I use a list format for most of the review? Hopefully this way you don't have to read all of my chatter.. Oh wait, you are right NOW aren't you? MWUAHAHA~
- I think the green color for the date is a bit too light, it's kind of hard for me to read. Also the post title is bright pink.. which comes from nowhere and is really random. I don't think it looks bad, which is weird considering it's a rebel/lone color, but it is a bit odd seeing as though the rest of the layout is all greens.
- The little icons in your footer are what I'd like to address next! I like them and it's good that they are green to match the layout but I think they would look better if they were a lighter green. Since the footer's background color is a deep and darker shade of green it makes the icons blend in a little too much. It's hard to make out what the markings on them are.
Moving on from design, I am always a bit sad that there isn't more to your site. Your bio page is informative, which is great, but then it's just a blog. :( Your blog IS very well written and I always forget your age because you act well, how I SHOULD be acting at my age.. haha! That's why I think age is such a dumb thing to blame on poor designing/coding skills.
Your site is quite empty feeling I believe, but you do update your blogs fairly frequently which is good. I just want to see some more stuff about you, I suppose. You should totally draw pictures of cats.. You know, just cruddy little stick figures and dedicate a page to them.. MWUAHAHA! Ok maybe that's not a good idea but I still think it would be funny.
This is probably one of THE shortest reviews I have ever written.. Oh dear! Well just put more stuff up about you, woman! *bonk*

Hey Mimi! Thank you so much for the review :3
I understand what you're saying about the random bits of colour; I've been trying to find somewhere to incorporate the pink so it's found more often.
I'll work on lightening my footer icons :)
I wish there was more to my blog, too! I'll keep searching for things to add :P

Ok I'll start at the beginning....
the CSS and layout are both outstanding the colour choice is fresh and revitalising, the colour scheme is very effective, kudos indeed.I read your about page, and needless to say the grammar is flawless and the language evidently portrays your personality. The way you have described yourself kept me engaged and which is key, as too many descriptions bore me or they are far to cliche to undertsand what the blogger is like. The flow of ideas is particulary noteworthy.
I like the way how dispayed the correct way the pronounciation for your site's name, as I find it rather frustrating when I can't pronounce something -- a definate thumbs up there
Your blog-writing is very interesting and honest, something I quite admire and wish I could one day emulate.
In closing the site is what it says in the description
super cool blog
Nothing more or less, brilliant site you have. No real criticisms needed- just keep blogging!!!

on 7th Feb 2009 and said:First Impression: Very simple, clean, and agreeable colors. This is not a Wordpress powered blog? Wow! You actually gave me a topic and a resource to add to my site to allow others to try as a content management system.
Content: Being that the site is personal, you give some great information that is worth the read. Your description of yourself is charming.
Your site is entirely based on your blog posts and no outside page content other than your 'About' section which includes a bit about yourself and a bit about your website. I did like the 'Questions Answered' page. Just an idea, but perhaps you could incorporate a facts and questions based on what people ask you. You could even have blogs that prompt your readers as you do have quite a few respond regularly, which I did notice.
I noticed that your blog is very plain image-wise for your content. Although I could tell you that it would be great to see a pic of you, I also understand personal choices and sometimes those under 18 are discouraged by their folks to put pics online. However, you could do more things like dress up your bloggings. It is no shame to borrow (of course with crediting the creator) images if you are not big on making graphics. Or you could take pics of things you do, like when you talk about rugby, have a pic of cleats and a rugby ball. It is a nice touch and adds more flavor to your blog. However, please note that this is only a suggestion to consider. It does not denote that I have a huge issue with it.
Coding: 2 errors. Really simple and involve a little juggling of code. (Short URL to validation - http://re-url.me/188 ) However, I am not a sticker. Your site is nearly flawless and I can view it so that is what matters most to me.
Design: I like the simplicity of the site. It is really easy to get around the site.
Summary: Because of the simplicity of the site, I was able to surf smoothly. I also enjoyed reading your most current blog and left a comment. I am not sure what you are looking for in improving your blog, but if you take in consideration what I have mentioned already, your blog will blossom.

on 7th Feb 2009 and said:First Impressions: I like the simplicity, the neatness, and the nice color scheme. The combination of greens is pretty, and the dash of pink in the headings adds a pop of bright color. However, I kind of missed the navigation at first since it’s all clustered right up against the bottom of the Reliquesce text.
Layout and Overall Design: Your layout gives a great, relaxing feel to it, and I feel welcomed to read because the text is legible and the colors are calm. I like your footer and the little icons next to the links. I feel like the sidebar could use some work, though. As I mentioned, the navigation doesn’t really stand out at all. I thought that there was just links to older posts because the About link was lost beneath the Reliquesce text. I also feel like there is a whole lot of empty space in the sidebar. I realize that part of the empty space on the sides has to do with the centering of the layout, but there still is a lot of space to work with in the sidebar that just seems unnecessarily bare. I think if you just moved the navigation down some more would fix a lot because 1) the fact that there is some navigation there would be more noticeable, and 2) there would be less of a feeling like everything in the sidebar was being squished at the top.
Blog: I like the writing style of your blog. In some ways it seems like a creative narrative in a literary text because of the way you integrate your thoughts and feelings about the situation you’re describing this time – I almost feel as if an author is writing about a character. I don’t know why, really, but it was an enjoyable read. You were concise yet engaging, which is something that I need to work on.
About: Your About Me page is interesting and informative, and I get a clear idea of what kind of person you are. There’s a lot of text, but because it’s all broken up into short paragraphs, it doesn’t seem menacing (to those text-a-phobes). I appreciate your good grammar, although I will point out that “My name is Kaylee, I’m a Canadian teenager…†is a comma splice that you may want to change.
- Prevous About Page – Although it could be potentially interesting for the visitor to read how your about page has progressed, the two versions are quite similar to each other, so there isn’t much reason for us to read through both of them. It might be more interesting just for you to see how you’ve changed in describing yourself, but in that case, maybe it would be better if you archived the old page privately. Right now, it just seems kind of like a filler page that offers very little different content than does the current page.
- Questions Answered – I like the interactive nature of Q&A pages. You answered your visitors’ questions with substantial responses, so it shows that you are eager to reply to the questions, which thus encourages other visitors to ask questions, too.
- Site Information – Your information gets to the point and offers pretty much anything we visitors might need to know about your site. Despite the mundane nature of site pages, you manage to add a little bit of personality to your writing when explaining the name or acknowledging your host, which is great.
Overall: I enjoyed browsing through your site, and I definitely would be interested in returning for more! You have an engaging writing style that captures the reader’s interest, which is a great thing if your site is all about what you have to say. Great job, and keep up the good work!

Shortly after re-writing my about page, I learned about comma splices in English class. So, thanks for pointing out that mistake! And thank you very much for the review; I've tried to move the navigation slightly down and make it less squished :)

I love the font that you used for your site name. That's gorgeous. This whole thing is gorgeous. The color scheme is great. Please keep in mind that I'm not a fan of green, but if you can get me to like green even .05% more, you're good in my book.
The only thing that seems off given the otherwise monochromatic look is the entry titles. The pink seems off in the mix of things. But that's just me. I noticed that the links are pink on hover too.
Blog and sidebar
There really isn't much of a sidebar, but whatever is there is short, sweet, to the point. This is the jist of how a sidebar should look--clean and uncluttered.
Your text is huge! Bold! I love it! If I can read it sans glasses, it's great in my book.
The other pages
Well you only have one. Wow, a girl playing rugby. I don't know much about that sport, but I know that people get torn up, as you explained by the limp and bruises. I'm not going to lie--I pinned you a the girl who won't play a sport that requires bruises. Note to self: don't judge a book by its cover. Oh, and lefties rule. Why, because we're surviving in a right-handed world. Sure our lifespan's shortened a bit, but...moving on! PS: they even have left-handed pens and left-handed notebooks. No smudges or rings on our hands! Okay, now moving on.
You recently redid this page, and I'm glad you did, because this is much better than your last one with the list. This shows the personality of Kaylee, which I knew was wicked before, but this confirms it.
Coding
...Not going there. You said that the only thing is that the footer doesn't stick. I've had that problem in the past; I don't remember exactly how I fixed it, but it's not that serious. Just one thing, because it is throwing an error out, in your xml declaration, lang="en" pops up twice. But otherwise, pretty flawless.
All in all
I'm a fan of your site. I don't remember if I've subscribed yet; because I have so many sites on my feed that I can't remember them all. But yeah, this is beautiful. You've managed to make me at least like the color green. The only thing that sticks out is the pink entry titles, but it's to break that monochromatic look (it works well though). Great job so far, fellow left-hander. :D
UPDATED 07 Feb 09:
Most likely it can be found in the header. It's in the xml declaration.Using Opera on Windows | Report This?

on 5th Feb 2009 and said:What can I say Kaylee? I love you site (I don't know if you already know that). :P This is probably going to be a short review, but what can I do?
Layout
Though your layout may be simple, I LOVE it. The shades of green, blue everything. I don't see many right aligned designs, and I would like to see more. The little swirl in your site's name just adds that little umph that makes it a stand out from the other "sidebar".While I'm on the topic of the sidebar, I like how you put the bullets on the right side of the links instead of the left. There's another thing that makes your site/design different from other "normal" designs I see. You know, the center aligned, two columned ones? I do wish that there was more margin on the top and bottom of the recent posts. I'd also like to see the search bar styled a little more. Maybe have the border a darker green than the background?
Just so you know, I tired remaking your layout just for curiosity. It's not as easy as it looks. It's really hard to get the right colors and widths. A+ design. :D
Blog Posts
You seem to find a way to write beautifully written entries while not making them boring; I wish I had that skill, but sadly I don't. :( I see you took my advice and change the posts per page to two instead of one. I used to have one post per page, but found that it's annoying to go though pages to get to a certain post.If you don't already know, I'm subscriber to your blog. ;) I can relate to a lot of your posts, which is why I subscribed in the first place.
Layout of the posts: Very simple and to the point. The date to the right keeps it out of the way, but still there if you want to know when that post was written. It would be nice if the color of the date changed when you hover over the title.
About Page
Another example of your writing skillz. :P The page is laid out very well and it flows nicely. I'm not going to go through it and see if there's a grammar error because I would probably be the one wrong *grammar idiot*. I didn't know you were Egyptian until you were wondering how to incorporate that into your about page. I love how you made that flow into your love for rugby. Nicely done. ;)Wrapping It Up
Like I said before, this was going to be pretty short. I really love your layout and the colors that you chose. The only thing that I wish you had done differently was the information in the sidebar. I don't know what else you could put there, but it seems a little bare. I guess I'll have to see what is in your new layout...Using Firefox on Mac | Report This?

Hm, I love it... although it kind of lacks... something. Since your navigation is small, it doesn't look as good as it would be when it's bigger.Powered by Textpattern? Really? I'm so used to "Powered by Wordpress"... but, oh well.
In the navigation, I prefer it if the navigation changed a little different, wasn't capitilized, and didn't have the silly double arrows. (»).
The pink seems to come out of nowhere... maybe add more pink somewhere, or remove it altogether?
Layout
Green and pink is a wonderful combination, if done right. Thankfully, you did do it right, although like I mentioned earlier: add more pink somewhere. In the content and footer area, you have the links ony change colour, and if you prefer to be more accessible, I suggest you change it so the link does something else, and you can also keep colour change. Because what if someone colour blind visitrs your site? Then they won't tell if the text was a link or not.
The "» About" and "» Archives" have a white background when you hover over them - it looks ugly (to me) and maybe you just have it a different colour background or just a border (or underline) instead. The "» About" looks a little out of place right beside the... oh, it's a Q. I'm bad at reading handwriting, and if I didn't know any better, I could've sworn your site name was "religion". 0_o
I find the light grey/dark white pointless to turn grey when you hover over it, but that's just personal preference. And the "older" and "newer" link don't look good unless it's together... except it won't happen on the first page. If you can, you shoud try making a "newer" button on the front page, but kind of... disabled or something, and see how that works out.
I hate how the bee that leads to your q*bee quilt hovers right above the background when you hover over it. You should change it so it has more padding or something...
Overall, the layout is nice, but could use some improvement. :)
Coding
XHTML Strict... good, good, very good... (No lecture on Transitional DOCTYPES, thank goodness!)No need for the
<div id="right">... you shouldn't have stuff like<div id="left">and<div id="right">because it's just easier to havedivs named "content" and "sidebar" for instance... so it's easier to manage.Blah blah blah... the rest is good.
