This is still a work in progress. I know that there's not much content. The little that there is has not all been written by me. I am slowly working towards all of that. I would just like opinions about the layout right now. Thanks!

By the way, YES, the ad code is required by my host. And I also realize that it is not even close to being properly validated. Like I said, a work in progress! :)

Homepage Very good first impression, the colors are very cute and are matching together. It game me a very good first look. But I see you haven't blogged for a long time, you should blog more often to let your visitor know about the star's news and also what's going on with you.

Psych You have some good content here, your visitors can know more about that actor. Honestly I didn't even know that guy on the layout. So It's a good thing I read that.

For Fans This part is also very great, but you don't have a lot of things in it. You have like 3 icons and 1 psd i think. But it's a great job for the beginning, keep adding stuff in that. Maybe request some on design sites or make more by yourself?

Gallery wow, when I saw your gallery I was really impressed. The header isn't that bad, but it could've been way better, like with pictures of Psych or something, his shows, his movies. You have a lot of good pictures and they're mostly all High Quality which is very good and awesome, it'll bring more visitors to use the photos in your gallery.

website this is also a very good part, to let your visitors know more about your site. I see you have a credit part, which is very good. You could maybe add more things, like owner, Site History and about the site name.

Overall Your site looks very great but some content is missing and not all the graphics are really nice. You shouuld work more on that.a

    Visual:
Looks okay. A bit plain and unpolished, but at the same time it's clean and viewable :) I've never been a fan of this type of navigation. Either have main links on top (like you do), and then put sublinks in sidebar. Or put all link in the same place.

    Content:
I don't know this show so can't comment on that. What you have is a good start. Intended or not, a fansite breaks a number of copyright laws. But like I've said, I don't care about that when it comes to non-commercial fandom.
Technically, a PSD is a Photoshop image file. PNG is a completely different format. Since people used to share cutouts as PSD's, I guess that's a good name for them. If you plan on adding more, make small thumbnails so the page loads faster.

    Coding:
The basic structure is there. You're just missing some alt tags in images, mixing ul and p etc. <ul> means unordered list, and should only be used with lists. List items should be inside <li> </li>.

First impression -- who is that random dude? Obviously I don't watch the show XD I like the layout overall; the colours are nice and the more details I see (like the link styles in the content area and the comment form), the more I like it. It's the simple things, really :) The headings are set up nicely, too.

    Time to get nit-picky!

    - It's a bit strange how "psych" in the header image is more beige-ish when I don't see any beige in the rest of the layout.

    - It's convenient (I think) to have the site name in the header image link to the homepage.

    - Okay, this is really weird, but if you look closely at the right side of the header image bar, there's a strange bright border. I'm not sure what's going on there :P

    - The cutout of the dude should be centered over the sidebar in my opinion. He's a bit too far to the right.

    - In the nagivation, I wish the first link's hover background (homepage) was aligned with the left edge of the content area. Here's an image because I'm not sure what I'm saying is clear.

    - I think you should have the date/comment link for each entry within the green bar of the entry title. The space between the entry title and the actual entry text is awkward; too much on the left side.

    - The icons don't really show much talent :X I'm certain you could get contributions from users on sites like Livejournal for really great ones :)

    - Your stylesheet looks really good, but you could always shorten background-color to just background (both are used at the moment). Also, you could combine
    background:url(http://psychfans.net/three/header.png) no-repeat;
    background-position:top center;

    Into just
    background:url(http://psychfans.net/three/header.png) no-repeat top center;
Other than that, I'm impressed! I don't come across many sites with pretty clean coding.

I know you're still working on the content, so I won't go into that much. But I definitely see a lot of promise! Good luck with everything :)

    Hey!

I went straight to this site to review because my main experience is with fansites! Unfortunately what happens on the web is that the most unorginal, and most generic sites you'll come across are fansites. Every fansite follows the exact same formula and sadly nearly all copy each other. I know that your site is new, so I want to make suggestions to pull your site out of unfortunate unoriginality!

    First Impressions

I love this look. It's fresh and clean cut. The image took a little while to load but my internet is dying on me, so nothing to worry about. I've never seen the show so I don't know whether the layout is a good reflection of it but nevertheless I do love it!

The image you've chosen is a bit odd - by that I mean his face is funny and squinted, and it doesn't really instantly shout out to me (a visitor here to find out more) what the show is about.

I also really appreciate that your posts are full bodied posts too. Sadly, most fansites I come across will have boring one line posts of 'I added a new still.' Seriously, that's it. What kind of message does that send the visitor?? But here you're actually actively talking about the show and the site's progress. What you've said in the Season Finale post is spot on and I'd love to see you post more like that - being passionate about the very show you've created a fan site for. That's what owning a fan site is about.

    Psych

The main section.... you'll find that all visitors coming to a fansite will make a beeline for this section and if they don't find the information they want they'll just leave. So let's check it out!

Hmm, two paragraphs isn't really enough. I know you're still working on it but here's my two cents; make this page worthwhile by adding brief plot outlines of each season, adding 'read more' links leading to seperate pages with full details of episodes and information. You can use screencaps of eventful moments in the season to illustrate the page (the prettier the better!). A mini paragraph of 'Psych is next showing at __ on this channel' could be on the main page or even the sidebar to keep fans updated.

Since your character pages regurgitates information from the official website you need a hook to stop visitors just going there instead. Add images of each character and actor bios and even quotes of what the actor says about who he portrays. Why not allow comments on these pages to let fans comment on why this character is their favourite, or what makes them want to see more of them? All these little ideas just let these character pages not be a waste of space - copied information by it's own is so boring!

After that section I don't really feel like I know the show at all, so you definately need to jazz this up a bit :)

    For Fans

These goodies are cute! Why not use the PSD as your image on the layout? It would look much more attractive :D

These goodies are aimed at fans with graphic skills. Whilst these are cute I would suggest for this section:

A guestbook/comment system to let fans explain why they love and continue to watch the show, or a favourite character/episode/season poll. Anything that lets fans talk about the show in an interactive fashion (but avoid a forum like the plaque = too quickly they become dead and uninteresting!).

If you would like to keep some fan content graphic based you could even hold graphic contests asking fans to create a banner or wallpaper based on an episode/quote/character of their choice. Just ideas!

I appreciate the simple design of the Gallery. I don't think it should have to open in a new window though, as visitors want to be able to control what they open in a new window. Can't wait to see this gallery develop with screencaps and such!

    Website

    Organised and lovely. The credits page is good, but you're missing out credits for the images, as copyrighted image use if a problem, naturally with fansites! What might be needed here is a credit for overall image use around the site, something like;

Image featured in layout is copyright to the USA Network website and Psych production and is reproduced here under the terms of personal and non-commercial use.

I notice you have a disclaimer to the side but have not mentioned your use of images there either, and it might be worth stating 'I do not claim to own copyright to images featured on the site' etc etc.

    Final Comments

Over all a really good making of a fan site! I can tell from your style that you've made the site because you really are passionate about the subject (this is not the case for some fan sites sadly). I would suggest you work to make the site more original and get out of the generic fan site formula while you can! Good luck with the site, and I hope my suggestions have been useful.

    layout:

i love it!! i simply love it! i love the colors, i love the header, i love the titles... yes, the advert kinda sucks, but if your host require it what elce can you do. i know how that feels and your ad is not as bad as mine is (i have to find a new host, gosh!)
and i really really like your links :)
the only little thing - if i were you, i would make te post a comment form bigger to fit with the actual posted comments.
and i like that you centered it, tho :)

    content:

i'm not a fan of psych and i've never seen even a single part of the series, so i don't really know what i'm looking for, but let's talk about what you already have.

psych: i would add a few photos into the section, so people who don't know anything will what they're looking at and to also lighten the page and make it more interesting (no one can read for a long time ;)
i would do the same with the characters section, but you should add some info about the actors as well.
for fans: you have PSD images and icons and so little of them, but i guess that's only a matter of time :)
gallery: you have a nice layout (i was never able to create a layout in coppermine) in a gallery and everything nicely sorted, good job!
website: maybe you should add more info about the site and something about you. other than that you have probably everything. :)

    overall:
you have a greatly designed website and just have to work on your content, which is only a matter of time, judging from what you've said. if you say your layout is not valiated and everything, i have no reason not to believe you, but i think you will work on it and make it almost perfect one day.

    GREAT JOB!

Hey, I'm Shivz. I'll be reviewing your site using Firefox in Ubuntu / Linux.

    First Impressions
Loaded quickly. The layout colours are nice, not too painful for the eyes.
Under the Welcome header, it says:

your first and only fansite for the amazing show Psych

Is that really true? A site called psychfan.com was around in 2006, so yours is obviously not the first. Think before you state a fact ;)

    Layout
As I already said, the colour scheme is great. The picture of James is well, weird =))
You could make the font for the navigation links a little bigger, as Bridgette suggested.
Other than that, the layout is pretty good.

    Content
I won't review the content thoroughly, as you said you're still working on the site.
You've given the airing time only for the USA. Your site have visitors from all over the world, so do some research and dig out the airing time and channels for other countries.
A suggestion: If you're concentrating on the number of pages, you could add a page about yourself. Let your visitors get to know you better~

    Overall
You could do better. Let me know when the site is complete :)

    Good luck with the site!

Hey, I'm Bridgette, and I'll be reviewing your site in Google Chrome.
First Impressions: hehe, I LOVE psych, that's why I was so attracted to your site. As soon as I saw Psych, I had to check it out :) Anyway... Lovely, simple layout. Nice picture you used; I love it.

Layout: As I said, love it :) Only one thing, you could make the navigation links a little bigger. The Side bar looks really big, but since the header image is so long, I guess it fits... :/ Nice CSS.. etc.

Psych: ::The show- Nice information; The first paragraph sounds a bit choppy. Try varying the length of the sentences a bit.

Psych is a comedy show about the fun-loving fake psychic Shawn Spencer. Along with his sidekick and best friend since childhood, Gus, he uses his talent at making quick and detailed observations to solve crimes.

    Just an idea. :)
::The Characters: As the header for that page you have 'THE CHARACTER' instead of 'THE CHARACTERS', so change that. I noticed you just copied from the usa network site. It's good you cited your source there, but try and come up with something of you own. Also, just a suggestion, for Gus, you could put a list of all his 'Nicknames' I'm sure you could find a list by searching on google.

For Fans: PSD: The image doesn't show up at all, and the link leads to and Internal Server Arrow page..
    Icons: again, don't show up.

Gallery: Not too impressed by the layout you have for this page, try making it a little more interesting. Good pictures, and from the one's I looked at they are high quality.

Website: The contact form leads no where, but I understand you're still getting pages up.

Well, I just read your discription... sorry for review your WHOLE site.. x] Well, maybe something helped?
Overall, I love your site, cause I love psych. Can't wait to see some content !
