HEY! First of all, be more active here because you're a fun reviewer! Second, this probably won't be a long review. You should be excited, most people are suffering through my 1500+ word reviews anymore. Bwuahah!

    First Impression:

I felt like my attention was being pulled around all over the place, almost too much. The first thing I see is the heart, obviously. Red + Big = attention getter. But then my eyes keep darting back and forth from the navigation and the site title, then to the background, then the arrows.. When I first came here I will stupidly admit I was so lost. I am kind of slow, it took me a while to figure out how to click the arrows.. durh Mimi. -.-*

Anywho, I'll just move on to other parts and address things there.

    Coding:

Erm, not much to discuss. You could save an entire 97 bytes on your style sheet by using CleanCss.com? LOL You have validated code, blah blah. I wasn't expecting to find errors with you of all people. ;) I don't know much about the whole javascript thing you are using for the layout, so I am just sticking to the minor other things I do know.

    Let's just move on. :P

    Design:

Ok, here is where I get picky. Are you scared yet? Mwuahah! Oh you know I'm not a mean person. My first issue was the background image. I remember when I first saw that years ago and it was pretty cool. Now I get tired of seeing it because it's everywherreeeee in all colors and shades. It's not bad with your layout, I just know you are pretty awesome and could get a way cooler one that all the teenyboppers haven't abused.

I feel very smart that I just figured out why the arrows change colors. They correspond with the square which all parts of the square are different navigation to pages. COOKIE PLZ!! :D However, I think they would look better if they were just always black. Yeah, I'm boring. :(

This is just a personal preference but I don't really like the underline on the links because for some odd reason I oppose almost all underlined styles for links. You can discard this opinion, though, because there is no logical reason for me hating underlined links. :P

Oh but one thing that I do think is legit is that the color of the links in the content area should be changed to be lighter or darker. I realize they match the blue square of the logo but it just looks like you forgot to set the color in CSS because it's almost identical to the ugly blue default color. XP

Hmm hmm.. just being picky here because I think the site is pretty cool as it is, but I have to have SOMETHING to review here.. D: I can't really see the 'Members' link on the navigation very well? I am old and apparently going blind. :|

    Content:

Well, it's a fanlisting.. So good job. :P You seem to have everything needed.

    Final Thoughts:

This is probably the most worthless review ever, sorry. I am totally in love with the javascript setup you have going on. It makes me happy. :)

I took away half a star because.. I dunno! So I wouldn't be playing favorites. :P

Thanks for the great review Mimi! The blue matches the blue on the previous design on the del.icio.us site itself. :3 I just haven't bothered to switch to the new blue because you know what...? They presented their new design *right* after I finished my design. So I got pissed. -_-

A totally unique fanlisting - I've not seen anything of it's kind before. I love the slider thing, but agree with others that text links for those who haven't got or have disabled javascript would be a good idea.
Other than that, I can't really fault it - it's something unique and I can't compare it to anything - it's fabulous!

Slighty dull on the colors, but I love the Javascript slider. xD

    Rules -
The rules are straight forward. It also tells me type of site this is. That's good. :3

    Code -
    Very cute buttons. :D

    Members -
Organized. It tells you their email, were their from, and sometimes their website.

    Update -
At first, I thought that there wasn't an update from, until I read the notice. I suggest that you try to get the update from up as fast as you can, but there's no rushing.

    Etc -
Just links, and the affiliates. The owner also gives out an email in case if you need to contact them for anything. :D

Overall this site is like any other fan site, but the feature that makes it different from all other fan sites, is that javascript slider. I had fun flipping through the site with that slider. Kudos to you and the slider!

I love the JS scrolling. It's lovely, something I don't see too often.
It's a well designed Fanlisting with a nice background and the colors all match very well.

I like that the layout is always centered, in the vertical and horizontal way.

The navigation is nice, very unique. It seems like you put a lot of thought into in, as the whole layout/design in general.

MAIN PAGE: Sums up the updates nicely. I'd like to see a "welome to..." or just a little welcome message somewhere. It's not important though.

JOIN: I like how the content vanishes when you click on a link in this category. Your codes are lovely.

MEMBERS: Ooh... no update form? ;) It's coming soon I read, so that's a good thing. The rest is good.

    ETC: Straightforward.

What I'm missing is - What is del.icio.us? A little "about page" and why you created this fanlisting would be nice, not necessary though, seeing I'm guessing the people who visit this fanlisting know what it's about ;)

I like how there's a line telling me "JavaScript is required to navigate this site." when I have it disabled. Maybe you could build an alternative navigation for that tough, like others have suggested.

All in all it's a great FL with valid coding.

    wildx22's Response:

I personally don't go to 'About' pages of fanlistings because I only go to fanlistings I know about, but when I do an overhaul some time I'll definitely reconsider. :) And lolll let me just admit that the 'coming soon' for the update form has been there for almost two months. I've been really busy. But a promise that it'll be up! Thanks Tracy!

Like everyone else, I must comment that the design is absolutely beautiful. It looks so simple and yet you can tell that that a lot of thought and consideration went into it. You must have been so pleased when it came out so well -- I can't tell you how many times I've had a concept in my head that never translated well to coding. Always frustrating.

I don't think anything needs to be added re: the subject of the fanlisting. Most people click on fanlistings because they know the subject and even if they didn't, you have their link prominently displayed.

    It's a gorgeous website and I'm intensely jealous. ;)

Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

I don't think I had much of a concept in mind when I created this actually. Just went along with it and kept peeking at the actual del.icio.us design on the other tab to steal their layout. :P Thanks Melissa! :D

Not so much a full review; more of a comment really!

I'd just like to point out that despite a stunning design, little is done to exactly explain what Del.icio.us is. It seems that many do know what it is, but those who don't will be stuck.

The navigation and slides are extrememly organised but there is no place to explain what Del.icio.us serves as or why you (and members) are a fan of it. Excitedly clicking along I found no definate explanation besides a brief description of the fanlisting in 'Site'. You do have a link to the website in the 'Join' slide but even the website doesn't fully explain it's purpose at first glance!

Perhaps this minimalistic style is your ideal for a fanlisting, but it just seems to me that it is required. Freakin awesome design though! It works perfectly for me :)

Using MSIE on Windows | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

I know some fanlistings actually explain the subject of their fanlisting, but I didn't think it necessary to go on further than a "social bookmarking service". Plus, the fanlisting is for people who know what del.icio.us and is a fan of it. I mean, I don't really click into a fanlisting site unless I already have some interest in the subject (well, unless it's for reviewing :P). Thanks Olivia!

Sewwy gave it ****- on 10th Nov 2008 and said:

Wow. I absolutely love the design. It's so simple and effective, perfect for a fanlisting. My favourite part has to be the flicky aspect of the navigation between "pages." That being said, it might be worthwhile to introduce some text links as someone else mentioned, particularly if the user can't use (or doesn't want to use) Javascript.

The overall design is lovely. I think the colours are simple and work perfectly for what you are trying to achieve. I do think that the heading and checkered image/icon are a little on the large size though.

The sizes of the tables on the members page aren't really static. It might be easier to make sure the columns stay the same width so you can quickly navigate down columns quickly, rather than the columns being displaced with each entry. Also having "member" before each individual entry is rather redundant.

Overall, great design, works well. Great job.

Using Safari on Mac | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

Thank you! As I said before, though:

The reason behind the "member" was actually imitate the actual (previous) format on del.icio.us. I considered putting member ID there instead so it wouldn't be as completely useless as "member", but that meant unequal alignment for the member listings.

And the unequally aligned columns was also for the same reason too, plus to save space because the working content area is tiny. :P

Again, thanks for the review! :D

I think if I had to pick a favourite fanlisting design, I would pick yours. It doesn't follow the typical fanlisting layout. It's so much cooler!

The scrolly thing is so much fun! I feel badly for people without JS, which comes to my first issue. It is impossible to navigate without JS. I don't know if you can make it work so it does. I'm sure that a separate layout would work as well though.

Ugh, I have nothing else constructive to say. I'm sorry. The only thing I can think of is that I'm not really a fan of the background. It's no hideous, but I don't think it really matches. :

Keep up the good work, Rilla!!

Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

Hehe yeah I only disable my JS when I'm staying on one site for ages and that site has too many ads! But so many websites these days use JS so effectively. :(

I added the background to the design very reluctantly too because I didn't think it really matched. But eventually settled on it anyhow because I couldn't find a good solid colour background or another background that seemed to work out better. Will look into other options soon hopefully! Thanks Aisling. :)

I love this fanlisting's design. I think most people who own fanlistings are guilty of being pretty half-assed about the layout (I am one of them, indeed)! You've obviously spent a lot of time and given a lot of attention to this design, and I applaud you for this! I have tons of fun playing around with the sliding effect, and although the colours aren't TOO interesting (though I can see why), you've paid attention to everything else and it's generally quite well-designed!

You have all the appropriate content, which is nice, although nothing extra, which is pretty standard-issue for a fansite.

I would work on implementing a form of navigation for people with JS enabled, because it isn't very accessible to them!

Anyway, I think you've got a nice fanlisting here. It stands out from other fanlistings, but I would definitely try to make it more accessible if you have the time!

    wildx22's Response:

That's it. I'm definitely going to improve the accessibility when my exams are over! Thanks Clem. :D

I love the sliding navigation because I'm always looking out for unique websites! I also love how you integrated the menu with the Delicious logo. I was never a fan of the blue they used for the logo but your decision to use a light gray patterned background and whites tones it down a bit.

    UPDATED 09 Nov 08:
Oops sorry I accidently submitted before I was done!

Lke I said above, I'm not a huge fan of the blue but it's good that you used it as your link colors because I think a lot of people recognize Delicious from the blue they use (I know I do).

The organization of the content is nice and compact. Since you don't have a navigation outside of the main content area, I like how you kept the logo on each page, kinda of like header images on most sites.

Overall, I like the site. Presentation is clean and simple yet still appealing but like mentioned in the other reviews, another form of navigation should be created for people whose browsers can't read the script.

Using Safari on Windows | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

Thank you! I did try to mitigate my downfall of inaccessibility by JS-disabled users a bit with the noscript sign on the homepage, but I guess that's really not doing enough! Will definitely at least make a different version for the JS-disabled. :)

Peter gave it ****- on 8th Nov 2008 and said:

The navigation is very nice. I like how you integrated the Delicious logo into it. The arrows on the side are a bit confusing, especially since they are different colors for each page. It took me a while to realize that the colors correspond to the navigation.

I like your use of jQuery throughout the site. The slider is nice, and the accordion function makes signing up simple and fun! I don't think you need to use the accordion function for the "Etc." page.

I'll leave it up to 1337er PHP ninjas to review your script, but the content seems fine. The rules are clear, and the signup form seems very useable.

Overall this is a very nice fanlisting with some fancy jQuery and solid navigation. A few changes and I would give it five stars!

    UPDATED 08 Nov 08:
PS: it says I'm using Safari on a Mac, but I am really using Safari on an iPod touch.

    UPDATED 08 Nov 08:
I didn't see the contact link before, but now I see that it is necessary. I agree about IE :)

Using Safari on Mac | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

Thanks for the review! Sorry for confusing you on the arrows bit. :P

I do think the accordion is necessary for the Etc page though. I don't have enough space if I don't use Accordion. This is because in IE6, for some reason the divider space is smaller and can't fit as much content as in other browsers. Grr. For example, in all other browsers, I could fit in two extra rows per page for the members list but what I have now is maximum in IE6. *kicks IE*

Shiny javascript is all very well and good, but you really should think about putting some 'normal' navigation in there too, for those of us who forget we have noscript running :P Nothing works without it!
That's a Very Bad Thing in my books, and so you lose stars for it. Seems harsh I know, but yeah.
If it worked without the js, I'd give it four stars. Well, actually, if it worked properly I wouldn't be reviewing it, as fanlistings aren't my area of expertise/interest ;)

I've not dug around too much in your code, but looking at the page source I can see that all the content is there, and you're using jQuery stuff to show/hide sections as applicable.
Maybe fiddle it around a bit so that non-JS people get all of the content all of the time, rather than only seeing the 'home' section. And then put an actual anchor on your links, rather than just a #.

I don't really like how you have "member:" in front of each member's details. Seems a bit unnecessary to me.
Nice touch to link people's delicious accounts as well as their websites!

Not really much else to say - it validates (and you're using em/strong/etc instead of i/b, yay for semantics!), you've got all the standard fanlisting type content (join/members/some info), and the design is simple and effective (and using the delicious branding/colours, which is something I always like on fanlistings)

ahh, del.icio.us was a much cooler name than just plain old 'delicious.com', as it is now :( Will you be updating your links etc?

Using Firefox on Linux | Report This?

    wildx22's Response:

Thanks Katy! Sorry it didn't work for you. :( Yes I do plan to make a new version that will work for non-JS people! It was my first attempt at JS, so sort of like my little playground. :) I did put a noscript notice on the homepage though. But as I don't have the noscript FF extension myself I forgot about you people who would have JS disabled the whole time.

The reason behind the "member" was actually imitate the actual (previous) format on del.icio.us. I considered putting member ID there instead so it wouldn't be as completely useless as "member", but that meant unequal alignment for the member listings.

The colors are a bit dull, if you ask me. Black, gray and blue are kinda boring. Maybe you should add more red? Content-wise, its good. It tells me what type of site it is and rules are stated very clearly.
