This is just a website I designed for this new mystery book club I joined. I wanted to know what you guys think.

I designed/coded everything EXCEPT the logo. I only polished it up, but my friend Caitlin created the original design. Oh, and I didn't code the guestbook, although I guess that was obvious...

I would really like to improve it in any way I can.

    Next Meeting Info:

    Well, not much to say here. But, you have the Calender page marked twice :P But, thats not really a problem.

    Meeting Calender:

    Not much to say here. But, They May meeting was already held but it says "Will be held at..." Witch is wrong.

    Guest book:

    Not much to say here either...

    Books read:

    This page feels... empty. Maybe you should add if the book has been read yet? or, I short review on what its about?

    Overall:

    Nice site, but a few things could be changed to improve :)

    Layout/Design: I love the overall look of it, but feel a few more graphics (for eye candy) could spruce it up. I'm not saying go resource crazy and add brushes, textures, and the like. Images on websites help represent what the site is about and gives the user something else to look other than simple text. Maybe an image of books, or smiling friends (to represent the members), just a little something to make it more inviting and fun!

    Content/Pages: I think you could really add more to the main page. I know the site is new, but this gives you more room to add certain things, that later on, you might not be able to. Be creative and original!

    You could add a short rotation of books currently being read or have been, then a link that leads to the full page. Maybe even suggested reading for the club members. Instead of short one liner updates, try to talk more about the club and what major changes have been made. Talk about possible future events for the club and website! I'm sure this would keep the members busy as well as new visitors to the site.

    About: I see you are waiting for someone to help write this, why not just make it as a normal page, write what you may know, and tell the visitors that more information will be coming soon? You could even write up a short bio of the creators or something, I'm sure you must know about that?

    Contact: Clean and organized. Why not add a form to this page?

    Member List: Usually information like this is put into a table, since it is data. Also makes it look more cleaner and aesthetically pleasing to the eye, as everything would be spaced out evenly.

    Next Meeting Info: This is something I would figure would be on the main page, then perhaps have this page as an archive. A great source to have more content on the main page, so it won't come off plain looking. ;)

    Meeting Calender: So big, but I like it!

    Guestbook: I'm pretty sure there is a way for you to give custom styles to this script? If so, why not have it match up with the site's looks?

    Books Read: Clean and to the point.

    Overall: I think you have a great start with the website and with just a few tweaks here and there, I'm sure it will top notch. Hopefully my tips and pointers will be of some use to you! Good luck!

    I'm really bad at designing interesting layouts, so I tried to stay safe and go simple. I hope it wasn't TOO boring...

    I'm working on adding more stuff, since I've only been sub-domain hosted before I have absolutely no experience whatsoever with database creating and the like. Now I have this new host where I can create databases. I would add a blog if I knew how to. :P I looked at some tutorials, but my host must be a bit different, because I couldn't figure it out.

    I also have very little experience with PHP, so besides using PHP includes for the pages like everyone else, I change the calendar and things like that manually. It's extremely annoying, but until I get off my butt and learn it, I don't have much of a choice. XD

    I fixed some stuff. Thanks!

    The first word that comes to mind when I see your layout is "school". I guess that makes sense though, considering your website is for your book club!
    I like the repeating background at the top - it's colorful, but simple. The entire layout is actually pretty plain, but the simplicity is nice and it all fits well together. The width is fine. The sidebar is well-organized and is free of clutter. All of the colors go together; overall you've done a great job on the layout.

    The "about us" page is blank. Apparently, Cait needs to write this? This page either needs to get written or taken out.
    Your contact page is set up well.
    Your member list is nice, too, but I think it'd look better if it were set up with a table instead. That way it would look more organized.
    The "next meeting info" page is fine. It's nice to see that you haven't added the actual meeting place, that's a good idea.
    The calendars look great! I'd suggest adding a bit of space between each month, though, so that they don't all run together.
    Nothing to comment on at the guestbook.
    The "books read" page is well organized. Maybe you could add small reviews of the books you've read, so that others who view your website might be able to see what those books are about.

    Overall, I think you've done a very good job on your website! There are only a few things that I saw that needed a bit of tweaking. Good luck with your website and your book club!

    I don't really know enough about the club to write a good about us page, and really I suck at it all-together, so Cait needs to write it. XD

    I was worried that the layout looked too much like I was trying to make it look as though a kid drew it up. I'm glad someone thinks it looks more school-ish. Hehe.

    I got rid of the link to the about us page, and changed the member list to be in a table.
