on 31st May 2009 and said:Hi hi, my name is Shola and I will be viewing your site in Mozilla firefox using a 1456x916 resolution.
Site Name
I like the name, it's unique. It wouldn't be easy for me to remember but I love it all the same.Validation and coding.
It's all perfect except one warning on your homepage which is caused by this:"< /div >
< p >
< /p >< /div >"
Your paragraph it empty hence why it's bringing up a warning. If you just removed both < p > and < /p > it should validate it.
- I think that's the problem anyway. :)Layout
I like the colours and layout of your page. it looks very sophisticated and elegant. It mimics sort of an old bible or script with the page numbers for the navigation. Well done.
Content
It's good. It's personal which it should be because you placed it in the personal category. I looked through all your pages and they all seem very honest and you personality shines through in them. Your "about me" page is very heart warming and welcoming too.
Originality & Creativity
It all seems to be your work which is impressive. I love the photography a the top near the header, it's those little touches which really makes your site seem personal.
Organisation & Errors:
No dead links.
And as long as you sort that coding out, it should be fine. :)
Overall Comment
I am biased, green is my favourite colour, so of course I really like your site.
the mixing with the yellow and beige works really well. It shows you have taken a lot of time and consideration into your site making it user friendly.Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?
Loralei's Response:
The weird warning is a problem with my blogging script. Once I've written more blog entries something will go in there (a previous page / next page link). That is kind of annoying in the meantime, though.
I'm glad to know my personality shines through and my site feels welcoming to you. =] It's hard to know how I come across since I don't actually get to see the reactions of people on the other end.
Thanks so much for the review.

It's a really dark layout. The layout's kinda plain. And I think the text color contrasts too much with the background (it kinda hurts my eyes if I stare for longer than 3 seconds). I like your navigation links, though. And the little black&white picture thumbnail thingies that are part of your header are pretty cool looking. In Depth
I like the colors of the layout, but I think the main content text's color is waaay too bright. Maybe something a bit darker or closer to the background color, 'cause when I stare at it for more than three seconds, I get a headache.I like the numbers where your navigation is.. I don't really know the purpose, but I like it. (ooh, I know what they're for now XD).
I think you should make your date/time text for your blog entries a bit bigger. They're kinda scrunched up compared to the rest of your text.
I think that's about it. You should change your main text color to something that isn't so bright. Since your site is mostly a blog, I think it's important that your text doesn't cause sore eyes after reading for more than 5 seconds.
Hope this review helped :)
Good luck!

Thanks a bunch for your input! I modified the text color so I'm hoping it's less headache-inducing.

I love the color scheme! I have so much to tell you about the layout later. Overall, very nice. It made me feel welcome.Site Name
I'm not really keen on using your name as a site name. However, since this is your personal blog site, I don't see why not. Plus, I give your name extra kudos. I love the name Loralei!Coding and Validation
CSS: One error. The validation system says that "0E1610" is an unknown dimension. I believe you are using this as a color hex code. So, there should be a # in front of it, making it #0E1610
Once that is fixed, you'll have valid CSS.HTML: Validated! Great job!
Having validated CSS and HTML show that you care about your site inside and out.
Layout
I love the pictures at the top! They are all cute, but they could be a little bit bigger. It's somewhat hard to tell wht they are. Downsizing the "Loralei H" and up sizing the pictures would make a great difference. The side bars are neatly organized. Very simple and neat. However, I think you should add a credits bar for your pictures, the CSS if you used a style sheet from somewhere, etc. etc.
Content
Home Page/Blog: Self explanatory. =)About Me: Nicely written. I hope you are enjoying your stay in the US! Nice Life Philosophy=)
Site Info: Great to see that you have linked your blogging program and host. However, a your resources used increase, i would suggest having a separate credits page linked on the Site Info Page. As a web designer for about 2 years, I cannot stress how important it is to have everything, no matter how small, accounted for on your credits page. This leaves no room to argue if someone confronts you saying that "you didn't credit me."
Links Out: Ahh. I see some resources listed. Again, I would suggest having these on a separate credits page
Final Thoughts
Loralei, you've got the start of a great blog/personal site here. Seeing since this site is for your thoughts and writings, I would love to see some of your thoughts put into articles on various subjects. Just by reading your blogs, the site inflammation, and about me pages, I can tell that you have a talent in writing. Again, I hope to more of this utilized.Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?
Loralei's Response:
Thanks so much!
I cannot agree with you more about the credits. I was active for 4 years a while back and that's one of the things that irked me most. Right now links out serves as a credits page of sorts -- I'll make that clear. The photos are ones I took (I travel) -- I'll note that on the site info page. And the css was work I did from scratch -- from what I still remembered from doing web design a while back. I do agree about the size, so I'll definitely do a little shifting in a bit
One of the tough things about starting out is wanting to have a complete website right off the bat. My hope is to use the blog to do articles, and then categorize them. My old website had an articles section but I didn't feel like they were any different from some of the more significant blog entries I'd written.
Again, thanks so much!
