    Hello, Scott! My name is Sarah, and I will be reviewing your site today.

    LAYOUT // Alright, lets get down to it. I was browsing the 'websites' page when I stumbled upon your little site -- the screenshot of it caught my eye, which is always a plus. The layout now has, of course, changed, but I still think it quite nice. Its very simple and clean and its easy to find the different pages -- definitely a plus.
    However, there isn't much depth to it. It looks sort of like you were making a default template to offer up on your site, then just decided to slap your domain name up there and call it a new design? Still very classy, very simple, very clean, very likeable, just...a bit plain.
    Pink, then? Ah...an interesting choice of color, but it does show style and personality, which is really the main goal of a site such as this one.

    ABOUT // Now, on to the 'about' section. A few paragraphs about you...I read the first one, dribbled over the second, scanned the third, read the fourth, and of course the last is one sentence. I think its overall a nice set up; there isn't 40+ pages describing what you like and what you don't, and there is spacing between the paragraphs, which many sites seem to lack these days.

    I clicked the link to "Ask a Question" and it brought my to an Error 404 page. Something a miss?

    Continuing on, I took a little stop at Molly's page -- very cute dog! She sounds quite like my little cat, who likes to steal my cell phone and munches on yogurt...an odd little thing...
    You also mentioned in your other page that you passion was 'wildlife and animals' and you demonstrate that with this little doggy page. Kudos to you for that.

    The 'Random Facts' is quite interesting. Ooh..Kristina. She thinks you're cool? And you to her as well? Ah, she is a very lucky girl. xP.

    Fan & Hatelistings -- I don't really have much to say. Just some more 'about me' stuff...

    DOMAIN // Ah, now onto the next link -- the domain! Very short and sweet, I like that very much. I have a similar story, with Freewebs and stuff.

    Contact page is good.

    It's nice you gave credit to those who deserve it -- once again, so many web owners seem to 'forget' that little detail.

    It was nice to look at the 'Past Designs' page. I enjoy seeming old designs webmasters used, as it demonstrates how much they have grown in skill through their site. They're also good for inspiration for those of us who desperately need it. A nice page -- keep it up.

    OVERALL & LAST BITS //

    Your search bar works well -- I searched "pink", "dog", and "cheese".

    All the links work fine, except for that "Ask a Question". I would get that fixed.

    All the fonts, even headers and such, are quite readable. The Twitter bird is quite adorable.

    Your website validates in CSS level 2.1, but does not in XHTML 1.0. You have four various errors, plus one warning when checked. Some people (not me) will look down on you for that.

    //

    Overall, I quite enjoyed your site. It was very simple and well planned out, but I thought it lacked in creativeness (a word?) and own personal tastes. On your next layout, try and spice it up a bit! Show the people on the web what really makes you, you.

    I would also recommend you fix the "Ask a Question" link.

    Besides, a very nice site.

    Hi =) I'm coke, and i'll be reviewing your site. I'll do your layout & all your content. (By the way, I'm reviewing your site on a 1024 x 768, and with Firefox on Windows. )

    == Your layout & first impressions ==

    First of all, I want to say I think your domain name is the awesomest ever. I LOVE it. Reallly creative!

    I'd continue viewing your site, because your layout is nice, but it needs something to make it a little more personal.

    I love simplicity & all though, so I find this layout very nice and it doesn't have celebrity images or illegal images, which is always the best way to go.
    I love the rounded corners of your layout & it wouldn't look the same without them, so that's a nice touch.
    The twitter section makes your header a lot less empty, and I love the transparent effect going on.

    The CSS all mathces, and everything is in a nice readable size. Good.
    I really enjoy 3 column footers, and you've put all your extra information which is good, because you don't want to cramp your footer and make it all cluttery.
    I love the way you've displayed your previous entries, I've never seen sometihng like this before.

    So I'd say overall I really like your layout. Great job =)

    == About ==

    This is nicely written, no complaints. And it's nice you've got a "Quick bio" thing.

    -- Sub pages - Ask me --
    This is fine. I'd just like to say that you have 2 un answered questions.
    -- Sub pages - Molly --
    Hhaha, nice.
    -- Sub pages - Random facts. --
    This page has nothing. I hate when people do this, because it wastes time to click something that's not there.. Just take the link out all together, and update it later when you have the time. Then put it back up.
    -- Sub pages - fanlistings --
    fine, but personally i hate listings

    == domain ==
    A little small, so maybe you could add one of the sub pages with it. another small one.

    -- Sub pages - contacting me --
    Make it contact me.

    -- Sub pages - links --
    fine.

    -- Sub pages - credits --
    it's good that you credit.

    -- Sub pages - past designs--
    fine.

    == goodies ==
    No goodies :(
    Once again, like I said it's annoying when people do this.
    Replace this with some thing else until you find the time to work on it,.

    == Overall ==
    You have a nice site, but I think you could add a little more.
    Take out the pages that don't even have content, and I think you could replace " Goodies" with "home" or "clear" or sometihng like that because it took me a while to figure out it was the writing.. hahah I'm a little thick, so you could do that while you work on goodies. All the better.
    You have a really nice, clean & organized site. It's not bad, but It needs a little personalization.

    Hey there. I'm going to be reviewing your site now, so.. yeah. First, I will review the design from top to bottom, and then your content, from left to right. Hopefully, you will learn something, or at least be entertained by my outstanding wit and humour.

    The design is simple, which is nice, but lacks a "focal point" of sorts. There's nothing that REALLY stands out. It sort of looks like it could be a template that could be handed out to everyone. Don't get me wrong, it's nice. It's just not very... personalized. And this is your personal site, isn't it?

    I like how you've displayed your Previous Entries, and I like how the bullet next to the Archives matches the rest of the design. The footer is full of information, which is great. A TOUCH more of space between the headings in the footer and the links could be nice, just to make sure that there is a nice flow of space. It's on the verge of being a bit cramped.

    You don't seem to have a copyright notice of any sort. It's not entirely necessary, but it's a nice addition.

    That's all I can really say in terms of the design, because it is so simple.

    The About page is nicely written. It may need a bit of an update, as indicated with the line "I should really start revising for my GCSE exams in May." Unless you know that you'll be able to update your static pages frequently, it's best to avoid incredibly specific things such as that.

    Your Ask a Question page looks fine. You should get people to ask more questions! :P

    The page About Molly is extremely cute-- OF COURSE dogs have personalities! I'm excited to see you expand on this page, especially the adorable photos!

    Random Facts page doesn't exist. As a general rule, do not include pages that have no content, even if it says "coming soon." It is a waste of my time to click on a page that doesn't exist. I wouldn't miss the page if it wasn't there, but I'm certainly disappointed that it isn't there now. It's unnecessary and ANNOYING.

    Fanlistings page is fine.

    Domain page definitely needs a lot added to it. I know, you've had exams, but this is another example of... where you maybe should've combined the other pages into one, to prevent useless pages from popping up on your site. Somehow I find less content pages to be more attractive than a bunch of unfinished content pages.

    Contact page is fine.

    Links page is nice with the little images. Simple. It could be a little more interesting if you made the descriptions on hover something... descriptive. Just because this page is a bit plain. :)

    On the credits page, the links overlap, which is not very nice, when hovered over. Just a bit of margin would help.

    Past Designs page could use with a bit more information. For example, you could write about your inspirations, resources, etc.

    I like the sidebar on this page. Especially the way the blog stats are set-up. :D Going back to the design bit, I think maybe the links in the sidebar could use to be a little bit more defined on hover. Make the change a bit more obvious.

    There are no goodies. :( Once again, I disagree with having pages that have nothing on them on a site. If you didn't have anything else to put, you shouldn't have put anything on at all, or maybe you should've delayed your launch a bit. You used to have Goodies, didn't you? Why wouldn't you have put those here in the interim? It's just a bit of a let down. It's not unheard of to have a blog with just an About section, and then to add to it later when you have more time.

    The links on the Archives and Category pages overlap in the same way the Credits did.

    Overall, it's not a bad site, but it is a bit... lack luster. You really need to find a way to pull it all together and make it stand out. Finding a way to personalize and make it scream "Scott!" is something you need to focus on. Bye!

    paintedskies's Response:

    Thank you for the review, Aisling!

    I'm certainly going to work on my entire website. I'm going to fill the pages up tomorrow, including the goodies section. I have a lot of ideas for this section, so hopefully you will check them out when they're up!

    Anyway, until five minutes ago, the links did overlap on the Archives, Credits and Categories pages. I did fix them, so I hope they look fine now.

    I agree about making my website design more personal to me, but I don't know how. The only design that I have made that has been personal is the one featuring Molly.

    Again, thanks for this review <3
