Antikythera gave it

on 16th Sep 2009 and said:Hi! My name is Taylor and I am viewing on a resolution of 1440 x 900 and am using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. :)
Layout: I like the colors in your layout. They match well. The girl in the picture is cute, but its not a very interesting image and its not a very good picture. The background is washed out, but not enough to distract from the boring-ness of the yard. Maybe cut the girl out of the background and place her on a pattern or something?
Also, your bolds are yellow over a white background which is hard to read.
Your Cutenews link and your Back/Forward/Refresh links on your main page are hidden behind your header image because you closed the div before you added these links.Navigation: The Small Fonts are cute, but I'm on a huge resolution and they're still tiny. That font is fine for tiny things like buttons and pixel images, but for Navigation, something that is a big part of the way your site works, it is a poor choice. Maybe, if you can't find a font you like to replace Small Fonts, go into Photoshop and make little images for navigation with any font you want.
When I go to a website, I usually visit the contents in the order they are listed. The first two links in your navigation take me away from your website before I've even seen any of it. Not only that, but they open in the same window. If you are trying to get visitors to come to your site and stay there, I would suggest opening links to other websites in new windows so that your site is still open and available to them. All you need to do is add the target="_blank" code to a link to have it open in a new tab or window.
So, your links to other sites look like this:
< a href="URL HERE" target="_blank" >Link Here.< /a >
Easy.
Besides the Navigation issues (hard to read, needs organization), your Side bar looks fine. I would diminish the size of the updates list- make it smaller. Again, I can read your affiliates list but small fonts makes it a chore and I don't even bother looking at it at all.
I don't know why you make people apply for affiliation through myspace- thats just another way you are directing people away from your website. You should be trying to get people to go from myspace to your site, not the other way around.
Content: I went through all of your content, and.. Well, I don't use myspace graphics at all, I don't need premade graphics for my website, and your brushes look like you just scribbled a bunch in MS Paint. The fonts are nice. It just seems like you haven't put very much effort into making anything original or interesting. If you are trying to make a nice graphics site, maybe you should make some nice graphics?
Just a suggestion.
Cracks and Serial codes are not tutorials.. I don't care so much that its illegal, I use cracks- Adobe has more than enough money in their bank account to cry over me having a fake version of CS3! Anyway, though- they aren't tutorials, and if I were you, I wouldn't even bother putting that stuff up unless you amass a collection of cracks. People don't go to personal/blog/graphics sites for free programs- there is already a huge circuit of torrents and other ways to download illegal programs.
Your website templates are very, very simple, and until you can get around to putting time into making nice templates, I wouldn't bother. People can get that coding anywhere- do something that YOU really like- something cool and original. Wait until you can make images and code it RIGHT and then zip it all and THEN put it n your website. Don't bother with half-assed, boring content!
You have a nice Credits list, but you don't say what you got from each site. And then you say you don't know where you got your resources but the listed sites have nice resources anyway! Those aren't credits! You ask people to leave credit for use of your graphics. You need to do the same.
There is no 'About me' section. When I look at my site stats, my 'About Me' page actually gets more hits than most of my visitor content pages. People actually do want to know who you are!
There is no 'Domain' section, either. If you actually want to get organized, I would put your Link Me and Credits page on a Domain page, also put down why you made your website, and what its about. Like a Mission Statement.Overview If you want people to come to your website, don't make it hard to be there. If a website is hard to read, hard to navigate and doesn't offer original, interesting or useful content, you won't get any returning visitors.
Alot of your content isn't even yours- you just have links to other websites that have content.
You need to go back and think through every facet of your site- you need direction and organization. Why do you take the time to make a website? What do you like about it? Answer these questions and use the answers to make your site worthwhile to visitors.
Take some time to work on your coding skills. When I was 11, my mom took a college course in HTML, and I just read her textbook and learned HTML and CSS on my own- in the 6th grade. Its really not difficult. There are ALL KINDS of websites out there that will teach you for free. Every time you use a code from a different site or a layout that someone else coded- take the time to LOOK at it- to READ it- and you will find that its not that hard to understand and its not all just random gibberish.
Up until this year, I typed all of my code by hand, from memory, in notepad. Thats prettymuch the most complicated, backwards way to do it- but its not that hard! Once you have a basic understanding of HTML, your whole site will run 100% smoother, I promise.
If you are serious about maintaining a decent website, really take a serious second to think it over- because right now, your whole outlook seems pretty half assed. No offense :)Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?

on 24th Aug 2009 and said:First Impression (2/5): It's not a horrible layout, it's pretty basic. The header image is cute, with the scrapbook look but I am finding that there is just too much white. You should consider changing the background a bit, darken it up or put some kind of background image. Your layout confuses me a bit because it's not centered, but it's not left or right aligned either. It's just off center. Also, I scrolled down real quick and you seem to have a lot more sidebar then you do content. More sidebar isn't bad, but that much more sidebar.. people will most likely not go to the bottom of the page to see the remainder of your sidebar.
I highly suggest that when you type, you start to capitalize the beginning of sentences.
As I hovered over your navigation area (which has ridiculously small text that I could barely read on my 1280x1024 screen resolution) and realize the first two links under your "home" link are to other sites, your host and myspace. At first I thought you were offering hosting and myspace layouts in these sections, so I clicked on them. They aren't what I expected, needless to say. I suggest you put those two links somewhere else because they aren't sites within your site and so they aren't really "navigation".
Content(2/5): You have a section called "content", but even the text on your front page is technically considered content so changing this to something like "For the visitor" or "visitor" may help. Or you could take everything from the "content" page and slap it on the sidebar if you find the room for it. Going to this section is just as bad as the sidebar for me, the links to the content are so tiny I can barely see them and hovering over them just makes it worse, highlighting them helped a lot but I shouldn't have to do that in order to see what the links are.
Myspace(2/5): The graphics that I found here aren't anything that I haven't seen 100 times on 100 different myspace sites. You may have made them yourself, but they don't really stand out much. I do like what you've done with the "name plates" though, it's a cute, soft effect.
Website/Sites (1/5): Once again, the graphics here aren't anything special. I personally would not use any of these on my site.
Site Models (0/5): This content doesn't really belong to you, you've linked to another page and I am not sure what "site models" are really. Random pictures of random people that you can legally use in your myspace and website templates?
Website Templates (0/5): These are very basic templates that don't seem special at all to me. I don't usually check the coding of a website, unless they are offering templates for free, which you are, so I checked the coding on them. When I did check the coding, I wasn't entirely surprised to see that you have your head and html tags backwards. You've got this syntax:
<head>
<html>
<title>Y O U R T I T L E H E R E</title>
</head>
When it's supposed to be:
<html>
<head>
<title>Y O U R T I T L E H E R E</title>
</head>
and the stylesheet is supposed to be in the "head" tag. So, my real question happens to be, "If she doesn't know how to code, then why is she offering website templates?" I am not trying to be a jerk, I am just curious why you are giving templates away that are coded wrong. You're only going to hurt other people.
Downloads (1/5): Your brushes seem like they were rushed and are nothing more then abstract geometric designs. Your "free program" section is helpful, but a description of the program would be useful. The "patterns" were not what I was expecting, but they can be used as patterns. The "photoshop actions" have the same tired actions that every other site of this nature has. I am really itching to see something original, something I haven't seen before. The "textures" aren't what I would call outstanding, but they aren't bad. I like some of them.
Tutorials (0/5): Your first tutorial is really nothing but a simple blur effect and the result was not all that astounding. The second tutorial is a nice effect, but I really don't like the idea that you don't know where you got those clouds from, therefore I would never download it, nulling your tutorial for me.
I moved along to your "How to get Photoshop for free", you do realize this is ILLEGAL, right? Giving people the link to Photoshop along with the serial number is THEFT. You did know that you're helping people still a program worth hundreds of dollar which is a FELONY. Same for you Paint Shop Pro crack tutorial link. Those two sections dramatically decreased my review rating for this section.
Extras (0/5): Your "sub-domain hosting" section and am sure is not "original", but it's a nice idea. The bangs thing, that's not really your content, that's YouTube content, so I lowered your score for this section.
Link Me (1/5): In my opinion, you should create the whole "about the domain" page, giving us more information and then adding a link to button to it. Just putting a button with a quick code on it is not very filling for the page. But I suppose it serves its purpose.
Credits (1/5): I almost gave you no credits for this section because you don't have details on where you got the stuff you've used. You link to all these sites for resources that you've used, but what resources? If you don't remember where you got the "stuff" from to properly credit it (as you request quite often on your own site) then why use it? I gave you 1 out of 5 for the attempt.
All in all I gave you 1 1/2 stars. You really seem like you've attempted to put up content, just not GOOD content. It doesn't matter how much time you actually put into the site, because I see a site that appears it's been slapped up with very little original content.

on 22nd Aug 2009 and said:To answer the sidebar padding issue, the code you have is:
#sidebar {position:absolute; top:475px; left:88px; width:150px;)simply change it to
#sidebar {position:absolute; top:475px; left:88px; width:150px; padding:1px;)However, seeing as your cbox looks like it's about the same width as the side bar, you might have to change the size of the cbox after you add the padding.
On to the review :) I'm using Firefox at 1024 x 768 resolution.
The layout is pretty, I like the colors. I agree that the page background is kind of bland, maybe use the same plaid that you used in the layout for the background? Also, the bow on your site's name in the header is pretty but it reminds me of Christmas XD Also, maybe you should change the colors of the cbox to match the layout?
I took a peek at your code as well as ran it through the w3 validator... Major problem!! Your site is missing the most important tags, which are html and body. To fix this, at the very top of your code put this:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Your site's title</title>
<style type="text/css">
all of your css needs to go here
</style>
</head>
<body>and then at the absolute bottom put this
</body>
</html>There are a lot of other coding errors, but this is the most important one :X If you need help with the rest, let me know and I can give you some tips.
When I get to your content, the first thing that catches my eye is the get Photoshop CS3 for free. I'm a bit concerned about this, because it's probably not legal and although you're not the one distributing it, it could possibly get you in trouble for linking it? The other content is pretty good for what you have already, can't wait to see more :)

on 21st Aug 2009 and said:Your website is nice. The layout is fresh and it gives off a happy feeling. I don't like that the background is just plain white, maybe if you added a pattern or even made it a different colour, it would make it less plain. I like the colour scheme though and I think you could have incorporated the colours from your header to your CSS. The CSS for your headers could be different styles or different colours. Your chatbox can also have the same colour scheme as your layout. It looks out of place since it's all blue and a different shade from the blue in your image header.
I think your links are really hard to see, you should make it darker so it's more easily read. For your side bar, I think you could add some padding so your text won't start right where the navigation begins. Like this,
padding: 1px;You can add that to your CSS for you side bar to make it work.For a new website, I think you have a good amount of content. I'm not really sure what else you could add, perhaps avatars/icons, blends, emoticons, I don't know I guess the usual. You could look at other website to see what they offer.But I think you should add an about page about your site history and put things when you opened, why you opened and etc.?
Your Site Model Rares are pretty interesting, I don't think I've ever seen something offered like that before. You should probably rename it to something else though, since it's improper grammar usage and the title doesn't really make sense until you see what it is. (At least to me =S)
Other than that, you have a pretty nice site. It's quite the average website that you see now a days, but there's potential for it to become something much better if you just keep working hard, which is obvious from your updates. What I really like is that you recommend tutorials through videos, and I think you should keep that up.
