Then 20 more minutes wondering how you put together your design in code. I'm one of those people that like to hover over links over and over to see it change... I be that makes me sound like a crazy person. I like how each colored box had a matching link background change. It's like a treasure hunt to see all the different links. I apologize for not having any constructive criticism for your site. Your website is complete and fabulous.

My two things are: BLOG more! Totally in agreement with Aisling on this one. And also I hate having to click on the "Read more" on the most recent entry. I'd like it so much more if you have the whole entry right there for viewing, because sometime it's misleading with some of your entries.
Other than that... go Bubs! :P ;)

on 12th Nov 2008 and said:Design: This is probably one of my favourite designs I've ever seen. Honestly! The attention to detail and the (almost obsessive) consideration of each section is beautifully handled. The way things move, work, look. Colourful, but not assaulting. Creative, but not unusable. Excellent!
My only problem... that white space under the head of the princess. It's a nagging little thing, but it bothers me. It seems so out of place when there's such attention and detail paid to the other sections.
I also think that the strongest part of this design is that I don't grow tired of it. Like, you've had this design up for quite a while! But I still love it, and every time I visit I'm still like "sigh--I love that design! *jealous*"... though I wish I could see what else you could do!
Content:
Archives - great, organized, but quite long. Maybe break it up so only the most recent year shows up on the main page, since you have links to the rest of the years anyway?
About - Again, beautiful. Wouldn't mind a smidgen more info about you, but still has the beautiful attention to detail your front page has. This is one of the things that other websites fall short on. The front page is so carefully considered, and the other pages just seem so... meh. Not the case with you! So kudos!
Links - man, even your links page seems so well considered.
Contact - Your contact form too! I love it.Your blogs are also concise and but informative! You know how to write just enough to keep us interested (or enticing enough for us to click the "read more" link) and that's a talent. I know I wish I could express myself with out blathering on. But I wish, perhaps, they were more frequent?
Overall: You have a extremely well put together site! While there's some time between updates (but who am I, Miss-Disappear-for-Four-Months-Every-Summer, to judge?) you still maintain a beautifully original and engaging website. But I'd still like to see more of what you can do, because obviously you can do some great things!

That has always nagged me as well but I didn't really know what to put there... any ideas? :)
@Archives: I think I will look in to only displaying the recent year. I'm sure I would be able to edit the plugin :)
Hopefully I'll be able to put up a new design over Christmas break. After school's out, I'll be back to blogging more regularly.
Thanks so much, Jacky. My site being one of your favorites is a huge compliment!

on 12th Nov 2008 and said:I really love how our site is so neatly laid out. It's very beautiful and calming. No need to run around looking for things. Your color choices are beautiful and not at all dictracting, which is a terrific thing.
The top of your site is very neat and tidy, but as I neared the bottom of the page, I noticed that things got a lot more crowded. It seemed like you were trying to suddenly cram everything into that space at the bottom. Some of it seems a bit unnecessary. Do you really need all of that down there?
The rest of your site looks terrific and very personal. You seem like a very interesting person, and I'm really glad to another animal-lover! Pixie is so adorable! Would it be weird to tell you that I'm in love with your dog? I tend to fall in love with all dogs anywhere. I absolutely adore that picture of Pixie and Coco sniffing each other; it's so cute!
It's so nice to hear that you started webdesign at age 14, because that's exactly how old I am now. I started when I was 13, and I really hope that one day I'll be as good as you!
I love your exits page, because it's nice to see how many site you've credited. I can tell you're certainly an honest person simply by looking at that page.
I'm very impressed by how you got your contact page to exactly match the rest of your layout. I always have the worst time doing that myself. Good job putting your contact information next to that too, because it's always nice to be able to contact somebody via something other than just a form on their site. I've never been one to particularly enjoy filling out forms myself. Honestly, it makes it seem so legal, rather than casual talk.
Overall, I think you've done a terrific job with this site, and you've really inspired me with my own webdesigning!

Maybe not, but I love seeing things such as a Flickr feed or a Recent Tracks list on other sites... gives insight into the owner :)
Thanks so much for your review, Shroom! :D

on 11th Nov 2008 and said:I really like how soft your layout/colours are, it just makes my brain and eyes relax. I love the interactive tabs throughout the site. Haha love the 'tag' tag, very cute. I like all the info like what you are reading, listening to, recent photos. It makes the site (and you) more approachable.
About: I like how you go from paragraph & sentence style with your info and domain/site to lists for your quick personal information to bulleted lists for the random facts. It is a nice way to break up the information without the visitor getting bored with reading it all in the same style.
Exits: I like how the links are laid out by 'type', but I wish that the page was bit wider just because it is a lot of scrolling to get to bottom (if you are not using the menu at the top).
Archives: Wow, just wow. That is a huge list, and all the way back to your first post on the domain even!
Contact: I really like the send button. :) Very well laid out, you give visitors almost every chance of finding you on the net, so that is great.
I really like your site, it's well laid out and planned. I just wish there was something more to offer visitors to make them come back (in addition to the blog posts). Also, I agree with Joanna that I would like to see a reason or story behind why the site is called BubblesSOC.

Re: Exits
This was the hardest section to design actually. Depending on how I designed the code (I don't remember), I could make 3 columns rather than 2...Thanks for the review! I really need to try and blog more often...

on 11th Nov 2008 and said:Hello Bubs!
BubblesSOC is one of the most in interesting web sites to browse out there. Kind soft colours on the eyes, everything has a well thought out place, the design is new and unique and even the links change colour depending on the section! How cool is that? :DI noticed the tab for each page sticks out a little more than the others to show which page you are on. Although they only stick out a tiny little bit so it wasn't that obvious. Perhaps this was done on purpose; it's just something I noticed. n_n
Oh and I like the cute matching favicon! I forgot to mention that at the top there.
The "Recent Posts" links are a bit difficult to read unless you hover the cursor over them. The link colour and background colour are perhaps a bit too close? Although as I said, it's readable when the cursor goes over them.
The Archives system and the way the archives are laid out is just wonderful! And the "Hop To The Top" button is very useful, in particular on that page.
The "About" section says it all without hundreds of pages (see my site to see how messy the 100 pages system is compared to yours!). There is a lot of info yet this page doesn't even look cluttered thanks to each section being well defined. And the use of that side bar area seems to help a lot too. This is what I called "Design". C;
I do remember you having those link buttons for quite some time now. A few newer ones might be nice. Not that important but it's a little detail that could do with being updated if you have the time. (-After- you've finished that book of yours though! lol)
Many moons ago (Wow I sound just like my Mum. Creepy...), before your current site theme was up, you had a visitors section. I don't fully remember what was in it but I do remember sorely missing it once it was gone. That might be an area you might consider bringing back one day? Even if it's just old stuff. Or instead of visitor content, you could implement a portfolio area. Surely you must have work to show for this level of design, no? I'd love to see the progression from when you first started to now. n_n
If there is already a section like one of those then I must have completely missed it. A more visible way of accessing it might be good if that's the case.
Even a few articles would be interesting. I see you have a guinea-pig. Any tips on looking after one? I've had "gwiny pwiggies" too, loved them to bits. Big fat balls of squeaky fluff. GOTTA LOVE 'EM! Hi hi! n_nOn the "Contact Form" page should it say "I will get back to you" rather than "I will get back with you"? Unless that's the American way of saying it, in which case take no notice of that last remark. n_n
Fours stars because technically it's, well... Perfect. But also because the blogs are rare (and you have stalkers that need their dose of Bubs news, ya know what I mean! :P) and after a thorough inspection of each and every corner of BubblesSOC, there isn't much to do other than follow one of the many links on the "Exists" page and wander of.
Really great website though. Not hard to see that you've put a huge amount of thought, time and effort into making it what it is today. Congratulations! n_nI do have one question though. What does Bubbles "SOC" stand for? I thought it would be mentioned somewhere but I couldn't find the reasoning behind the name.

Re: Tabs
The selected tab is supposed to stick out just a bit further than the non-active ones ;)Re: Recent Posts Link Color
I'm aware of this but sadly, won't be able to change it until the next design. I tried several other colors but white was the only one that looked acceptable there. This is a mistake I hope not to make in the future!Re: Link Buttons
Care to donate one? XD I've never been good at making buttons :(Re: Visitor Section
I really felt as though my old visitor section was just a rehash of every other visitor section on the web... I really didn't have anything too original. I would like to add a Portfolio section and possibly a Download section (smilies, scripts, etc.), too. The pet tips section is a good idea... maybe I can write something up ;)Re: Contact Form
I'm not sure if 'with' is right or not... it's probably just southern American slang XD I'll ask my grandmother (she's an English whiz.)Re: Rare Bloggin'
I'll work on it.Re: BubblesSOC
Whoa? The explanation was once on there... I guess I removed it for some reason O_oThanks so much for the feedback! ^_^

on 11th Nov 2008 and said:First Impressions
Bubs, your site is so sweet and charming. The first impression of the site is perfect, it looks a bit like a day planner slash journal so it screams "personal site" straight off. The layout is beautiful but I find myself a little lost in it - have you really not updated since October 16th? In the blogosphere this is cause for concern! But then under "Recent Posts" there's a November 6th entry - why is it not at the top? I find myself confused!
Moving on! Your "About" page is sweet, the "fun facts" thing is very typical but yours are entertaining and engaging.
Your "Archives" page is overwhelming long, but the stats up top are entertaining - 400 posts versus 4,000 comments? Amazing! I think it's the opposite for most sites so kudos for having such involved readership.
The "Exits" page is where I wish the page was a touch wider, but bonus points for linking me, plus I'm near the top, muhahahaha!
"Contact" is simple enough, and I like that it doesn't automatically take me to my email program that I never use opening, because that's a total pet peeve of mine.
Conclusions
I want more content! By a lot, please. I know you have lots of wonderful cuteness and awesomeness to share so please share it. I'd like a more prominent Q*Bee link because if I hadn't know exactly what to look for I would have never seen it. I love the layout, the color scheme is sweet and non-painful, and you use a decent font size which I appreciate as I get older (cough). That being said if we weren't already pals I don't think I'd come back because you don't seem to have the "tons o' content" that the modern readers demand. Of course I could always subscribe to the RSS, a feature I appreciate, but then, like everyone else, I'm lazy and didn't subscribe, lol.

Re: Recent Posts
I use a Sideblog plugin which separates my 'notes' (short entries) from my regular entries. However, I currently do no know how to remove the sideblog entries from the Recent Posts list :\Re: Archives
Any suggestions for my Archives page? I really was at a loss as to how to display them...Re: Content

on 11th Nov 2008 and said:Bubs! Yay! I am excited to rip your site apart! Hehehehe. (Am I kidding? Hmm... guess you'll find out...)
You have had this design up since before I've known you, and I've known you for over a year. So, I'm here to say, "Whyyyyyy, don't I get to see more of the awesome design talent of Bubs?" I understand wanting to be consistent, but I find that, if you blogged more often (meaning I visited more than once weekly), I may begin to become bored of your site. :
In any case, your design IS lovely, it's still gorgeous, it still appears to be all in working order, and it is STILL a staple to any awesome CSS Gallery, or list of cool site designs. I am jealous of your skills when I see this website, even though I've seen it hundreds of times.
Your about section was very informative, and well-written, and you gave off a good impression. Your favourite books certainly have a theme. ;) I'm trying to find something constructive to say, and am failing horribly. Your Exits page is organized to the point of obsessive compulsion! It's lovely. :)
Your contact section is also immaculate. I love how you have pre-chosen subjects for the "regarding"! You are so organized, it's really amazing. :D
So, yeah, that's it, I guess! Your site is really well-done, and essentially perfect. I would just really really really like to see a bit of a change. Obviously, not in a hurry, just... sometime in the next 6 months, maybe?
Oh, how I wish I had something constructive to say. I'm sure you're going to get a lot of useless reviews, like this one, and I kind of feel badly.
OH! OH! BLOG MORE, PLEASE! I really enjoy your blogs, and you haven't posted one since October. And you don't post often at all. :( And that sucks. I WANT MORE!
