on 17th Feb 2010 and said:I'm going to try to write something good without entirely repeating what the other reviewers have already said, so here goes :) In response to everyone else, yes, your site is a little pink and blue, but as a girl, I don't mind that at all. I actually like the layout. It's feminine but has a nice touch to it. It's not too pink to the point where it looks like a Candie's online store. Still, I do agree with the others, the header is a bit empty and the image on the right just seems sort of...sad and lonely. It looks like a bottle cap that just got tossed to the side. I dislike how it's so distantly separated from the title.
I'm extremely confused about the "Advertise Here" in the sidebar. The box should expand to the width of the entire sidebar, and if you don't want to do that, then at least center it. Right now it just looks like a big block with a bunch of whitespace on the left. It especially looks out of place because it's at the top of the sidebar. I also clicked on the button and didn't get anywhere besides a page anchor :(
I absolutely love the heading titles on your sidebar such as "Recently Speaking" and "Must See," which deviate from the typical "Recent Articles" and "Links."
One big thing that I find missing is an About page. As a new reader to your blog, I really don't have any sense of who you are as a person or a way to contact you besides through the comment form. I mean, I suppose I could just read your blog entries to learn something about you, but eh, I'm lazy. I'd like it if you included an About Me page, even if it was just a paragraph or two.
Your writing style is very fluid and intriguing. I like how you incorporate rhetoric questions into your posts; especially in your article "desperate, pathetic, or both?" this stands out. You have a really great ability to make those everyday situations interesting. And yes, honestly, I don't know the difference between any of those types of water either...
The 210 in Twenty Ten page is well-organized and easy to read. I like how your reviews are short and minimal. It's also nice how you've linked the books to an external site in case a reader is interested in the book. However, I'm not sure GoodReads is the best site to link to. Personally, I'd link to Amazon or Barnes & Noble, but that's just me. If you really wanted to get technical with the 210 page, you could try jazzing the page up with some PHP or a script so the reader could sort the page by more than just the order you read the books. I know WordPress has the Now Reading plugin which works really well as kind of an online bookshelf, but it does take a lot of tweaking to set it up.
In terms of site validation, there are a lot of errors. You're validating in XHTML Transitional, but you're still using a lot of HTML tags. For example, you use the line break
<br>, which is okay for HTML, but not in XHTML. It should be<br />instead. You've also failed to quote a lot of attributes. Among other things,<img src='http://www.heynounce.com/img/hug.png?id=34831' border=0>is missing the quotes around the border attribute. Some of your links are also missing start quotes. On your home page alone, there were 34 errors, so definitely check that out. Other times you've mismatched tags -- just little validation errors like that. It's no big deal, really, but just be careful with your coding!Your site is well-developed, well-written, and intriguing in general. I really like what I saw, though I will admit, now that I've been looking at your site for the past half hour, I'm starting to get a little sick of the pink and blue overdose! You are a strong writer, and it really shows in your blog entries and creativity. Keep tweaking the code and the layout, but beyond that, you've done a wonderful job.

Thanks for your feedback! I'll definitely look up that wordpress plugin, I was considering using bellabiblio for the listing too but decided on the old fashioned way. I'm really interested in the wordpress option though. I'll update my 's too :)
An 'About' page is on my to-do. I'm just not a very good 'About' page writer :D![[img: avatar]](/avatars/TotalTech.png)

So I loaded the site and was blasted by a tonne of blue and pink however you must be fairly good at art to know opposite colours make them both stand out more. After recovering from the blinding of blue and pink I looked at the logo very small and well, feminine. Being male I wasn't that impressed, I just hope your website isn't targeted at males!
I looked through the archives and categories which were organized very well. I looked through some of the posts they all had consistent fonts and colours.
Side also known as the widget bar was okay, the organization wasn't as good there, the ad space was way way too small most ads are about 150 x 125 for blog ad space!
Well I think I covered most things there. Overall the site was ok but too feminine. However there was some good humor to make up for that! Good luck with the site and keep blogging!

Thanks for your feedback! You didn't like the mermaid? :) I have to admit my site is more directed at women. I tend to forget that guys do the blog thing :D I'll take that into account with my next layout and try to make it neutral.
I'm glad you like the posts. I've been working on better blog posts and it's great to see they're paying off (yay).
So, I'm not sure if I'm meant to respond to these this much so I'll stop now :)Thanks for your feedback, I'm not crying or scarred so that's lucky :)

The colors, although opposites, work well together (and tell me that you're target audience is women; if it isn't, that's something to think about) and the font matches this look perfectly. My only problem with the layout is that the header seems quite empty.
Also, there's this wasted space for the four advertisements. I understand that it may be hard to get someone to advertise on your site right now, but you need to make it easier for someone to do so. I clicked the advertise here button and nothing happened!
As for the content, that's actually pretty interesting. I only read the first few posts, but I found them very entertaining. You have a nice blend of observation of the world around us, questioning things and injecting humour via old stories of your friends. I think it works well.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I completely forgot about link to the advertisements. Thanks for reminding me :D
I've been working harder on my posts so I'm glad they're having a good effect :)
Thanks a lot.
