Dodeka is my journal, and resource website. I like to make stuff so other people can use it to make more stuff (I explained that badly.) Anyway, that's...pretty much it :)

    well what can i say, i like the colors of the design, its very simple but serves its purpose, the layout i mean, the heading dodeka looks amazing! i like the brushes you used there. i see you like patterns of abstract flowers that repeat, you call it paprika but anyway, you know what i mean. since thsi is a personal blog site, it can be anything because its you who make it fantastic, your personality shows in this design and that's what great about it! i like the easy navigation up top and the side nav is clean and organized. the little tweet red bird picture CUTE! you write like your talking to someone, that's so cool, i wish i could just write WRITE and not think of stuff other that what i'm writing about, its hard for me to be so open. the colors you chose are very calm and i think they are working to your advantage to create a sound peaceful mood so you can concentrate on your writing and not the design itself. kaytlin is an unusal name around here, reason why there's a y and not an i? anyway i like it a bit, it stands out like your patterned layout. your about and links pages are prefect, you don't really have to do much there for personal sites anyways, but you really took that extra step to make them look neat for viewers. i like the grey boxes you used on your resources page, clever girl you are. your brushes are totally sweet!

    i love personal sites because you can learn such a great deal from them, the site owners i mean, its a whole new world experience for people like me who are trapped in web designing all their life. i'm proud that you've kept so honest with yourself and let the world know the real you. i really like that peprika pattern for your layout, its working for you! don't change it anytime soon. your site is overall simple and useful.

    overall
    your site is creative with your own splash of personality and unique-ness! :P by the way, loved that bag, my mom has a similar designed bad but its blue, green, yellow and aqua with black.

    errors

    I love your header graphic. Beautiful color palette! Overal, a VERY nice design.

    Interesting and unique content . . . yay! I was hoping for more, but looks like it's a new site. I am liking the "stock" photos, definitely keep adding to that section--pretty!

    CODE
    There is a major problem with the alignment of your container. In my browser (Safari), your content is far right of the navigation links.

    It MIGHT be here where "margin: auto" should say "margin: 0 auto":

    #container {
    margin: auto;
    width: 715px;
    background: #ffffff;
    background-color: #ffffff;
    height: 100%;
    }

    Also, you do not need the "0 auto" margin here:
    navigation {
    list-style-type: none;
    margin: 0 auto;
    padding: 0;
    width: 715px;
    text-align: center;
    }

    I am not entirely sure if this will fix the alignment of your content, but it couldn't hurt to correct it. Basically, placing a "0 auto" margin in every style is redundant and only needs to be used in the container as it is for centering the container within the browser window.

    Another thing you might want to consider is using only web safe colors. That way, every viewer will experience a similar color. I understand you may want a very particular color, but there is a risk of people seeing something completely different than what you want them to see. The best way is to use web safe colors while creating your graphics* to ensure the best color viewing.

    *You may already know this... but if you're using photoshop, there is an easy way to get web safe colors and the hex codes. While picking a color in the color picker dialog box, there is a check box at the bottom that says "Only Web Colors". Check that box and pick your color. On the right, there is a box at the bottom with a # sign in front of it... that's the hex code that corresponds with your selection! Nifty eh? I bet you probably used that to find your hex code before, but now you can do it with colors just for the web.

    Kaytlin's Response:

    Wow, thanks so much. I had no idea about that problem with Safari! I'll do what you suggested right away. I use Paint Shop Pro 8 as a graphics program, I will see if that option is there as well as in Photoshop (with the web-safe colors) :) And thank you for the compliment on my stocks, that was one of my personal favorite sections of my site too XD
