My first impression is books. Yay, books. I'm not totally sold that the lime green goes with the blue and pink text but none of the shades are blindingly bright so I'll let it go.

Your blog entries are personable and humorous, definitely fun to read. Yes, there's a lot of time between them, but I can't really critique you for that.

The about section has just enough info to give me a good feel for you. I like that you aren't afraid to call yourself a snob. The questions and answers are very random, but I suppose that's the natural result of using a q&a script like that. I thought the pictures on your "Romantically Uncomfortable" story looked awkward- were the originally intended for a page with a white background? Other than that the stories are both entertaining to read.

Moving on to the article section, you clearly start with your strong point, reviewing. I'd love to see more website authors pick an original topic to zero in on and write about in depth. You do a good job of leading someone through the process of creating a solid site, step by step, though these articles are not technically on "website reviewing" - more "how to build a website that will get good reviews". I think it wouldn't hurt to separate the articles that are about reviewing from the ones about building a good site. Also, in Taking Up Reviewing, you link to your reviews of reviews you've received - but you've only got one review there, and another link on that page no longer works. You probably want to take out some of those links. Other than that this is a very through overview of what someone should take into account when getting into reviewing.

Your coding article and creative writing article are both well-written and entertaining, though I thought your suggestions for getting rid of writer's block were on the basic side. You could suggest readers look at the news, or write a blog post that responds to a friend's blog post, or that they review something they've enjoyed lately. There are a lot of good guides to overcoming writer's block; a quick look around should give you quite a few more good ideas to flesh out this article. I know one of the other reviewers already pointed out that it looks empty to only have one article in each section. If you're not sure when you're going to update, you might want to combine them into an "other topics" page.

The last section is about your site. The pronunciation guide is cute. I hope you do go back and add more. ;) The archive of your past layouts is impressive and really does show your development as a designer. A little more detail on how each layout grew out of the one before would be interesting, though. I remember liking your chess piece layout a lot.

This is the site review section you linked from your WPR article; I'm guessing you moved your old review responses because they were about previous versions of your site but I think it would look better if you had them all on one page. If you'd rather not, you can repost reviews you've gotten on rev.iew.me with commentary there - either would let you avoid having a single, lonely review from a closed site sitting there.

I actually think you should incorporate the how-to-build-a-site articles, the how-to-review articles, and your own reviews of the reviews you've received into a single subsection of your site designed to be a one stop shop for review advice. While technically, yes, these reviews are about your site, and therefore appropriate for the site section, the reader learns more from them as exercises in what to do and what not to do as a reviewer.

Your credits are exhaustive, and your link buttons still feature the chess pieces, which as I said I liked a lot. XD I definitely enjoyed looking over your site. I know when you've been at this for a couple of years that it can get overwhelming to keep old stuff up to date and find the motivation to keep updating, but I think your sense of humor and your wonderful ear for reviewing give your site a natural focus.

    Vera's Response:

Thanks for taking the time to review me. I'm glad you like my site.

I sincerely try to blog more often... but I'm so lazy :P

My articles on reviewing are rather outdated, they need to be rewritten. I did realize that somewhere along the lines I veered more towards how-to-build a site, as opposed to a reviewing explanation. Will fix that.

Also, in Taking Up Reviewing, you link to your reviews of reviews you've received - but you've only got one review there, and another link on that page no longer works.

Oh whoops, I'll have to fix that, thanks for telling me.

Hm... considering I won't be submitting my site for reviews other than rev.iew.me, it's probably a good idea to have them all on the same page.
I don't really consider these reviews of reviews. More like, Vera gets all snarky and snotty about her reviews :P Since most of these review sites are closed down, I don't think they would be useful to visitors.

Ah yes, the pictures in the about section, were originally on a white background. I should probably, edit them to fit the current layout better :)

Thanks again, this was a very useful review.

Hello Vera. As requested, here is a review. Usually I focus only on design, but since I like your content I'm inclined to include my opinion of it as well. I'm afraid there'll be a little bias in that respect as I do find your writing rather amusing :) I'll address the design to begin with.

This isn't my favourite layout of yours for a number of reasons. Though I see the reasoning in your colour choice and imagery (it conveys a retro aesthetic), the execution could use refinement or overhaul. Seeing as you're considering the latter, I'll outline my criticisms briefly and suggest a few ways to further your design skills for future reference.

Being a regular visitor to your website, I don't feel the layout reflects you and your interests (though Aisling's review is of an older layout, the sentiment resonates). The layout was inspired by your shopping antics, but the grainy, slightly clip-artish imagery and retro colour scheme don't give off that fun, energetic vibe of buying awesome stuff.

Here's a few exercises relating to your current theme which you can carry through into your future designs:

    - Think about the things you buy. Is it clothes? Games? Music? Film?
    - Use your five senses to describe shopping. The smells, colours, sounds and pace.
    - How do your favourite stores brand themselves? What colours, logos, clientèle, typefaces, lifestyles, etc, do they perpetuate?
    - Who do you shop with? Do you shop alone, with friends or family?
    - What language do these stores use to attract clients? i.e. SALE, bestsellers, etc.

Perceiving reality and thinking about it critically is a visual exercise. By collaging associated images and words, you'll begin to uncover organic images, colours, typefaces, forms and shapes. I promise it doesn't take long - log onto flickr, ffffound, dA, stockxchange, etc and collage it all on screen. Throw in any photos you might have or images of stuff you have bought.

Usually I find that once I've been through this process, everything else falls into place. Experimenting with photography, doodles, collages, tracing, letterforms etc, starts to give the identity of the website a real shape which could be used in the final rendition.

Now, typography. You keep it simple enough, but I reckon you could go bigger with your headers. Considering the content of your website, use three sizes. Large site title (250%), medium headers (150%), normal body text (100%) and navigation. With the size differentiation there is no need for emboldening or colour variations. And though it may be a personal preference, I feel on screen everything looks better flush left.

This is the part where I write pages about your content. But I can't. It's awesome. All of it. Your tone is straightforward, honest and blunt. I find your articles a good point of reference and only 5% patronising (though I realise this may be a disappointingly small figure for you :p)

My only gripe is that these articles do not have enough exposure. Submit them to social networks or cross-post them at resource websites. Fuel Your Writing might be a good place for "How to Get Rid of Writer's Block".

It may also be worth grouping the articles under a big header with some sub-headers, rather than separate the odd article onto its own page. Unless you plan to write more articles about creative writing or coding, of course.

I also noted a small mistake. "Lilian - is something else: fun, intellectual, stylish and and an all around interesting person." should be "Lilian - smells."

Hopefully I've provided a few valuable pointers to inspire you as you stated you were inspiration-less. However, if you still can't think of anything consider hiring a professional. By the last name of Tula. And a first initial of L. Of the free variety ;)

Now go do stuff, otherwise I'll threaten fruit like I did with Rachael.

Using Firefox on Mac | Report This?

    Vera's Response:

Thank you soooooo so much Lil.
I know, my main issue with design is that I don't have enough patience to fiddle with GIMP/PS to make things work my way. I just want to get things over with, so I can go on to the coding aspect :P

only 5% patronising (though I realise this may be a disappointingly small figure for you :p)

Darn, must turn up the sarcasm a notch... or two.

The reason I don't add my articles to any sites is because they're in dire need to rewriting. I keep promising myself that I'll do it... eventually, but eh. I really should. Some things are incredibly outdated.
As for the one article per page, yes I do plan on writing more in those two sections, which is why I gave them their own page.

I also noted a small mistake. "Lilian - is something else: fun, intellectual, stylish and and an all around interesting person." should be "Lilian - smells."

That's the short way to put it, I assumed. But see I can't, for the life of me, be brief. Just look at the humongous size of this response. I'm willing to bet it's almost as long as the review itself.

Once again, thanks a lot for the pointers. It definitely gave me some starting points. Now I only need to keep at it :P

Hello Vera! I'm Sophia I'll be reviewing your site using Opera on Windows with a 1024x768 resoltion.

    First impression
Pretty good I like your neat layout, though the text in your header image is a bit of low quality.

    Coding
Your coding is valid XHTML strict and your CSS is valid CSS 2.1.

    Layout
I really like your layout; pretty neat. The colors keep me refreshed, i also like the background it suits the layout. Your header image is a bit of low quality; improve that. Your navigation is quite impressive ; I like that! The width of your layout seems to be fine. Your links however, don't hover while clicking on themm fix that. Overall; you got yourself a pretty nice layout! But the pages take a while to load, it annoys me a little and I have a slow computer which makes it worst.

    Content
The only content in your site seems to be articles. I love them actually; your pretty good at writing them. In your site's page; I love your past layouts seems like you're professional when it comes to them ;)

    Over all
Vera, you've got yourself a pretty good site, even though it's small but your articles cover that since they're really interesting. There not much to review so it would be nice if you add some visitor content like; pre-made layouts? You're pretty good at making them. Sorry for the short review but like I said there is not much to review.

Using Opera on Windows | Report This?

    Vera's Response:

    Thanks Sophia for the review.

I'm glad you like my layout, people generally find my designs much too plain. In any case, I've been meaning to change it... only I lack the necessary inspiration.
As for visitor content, my site is a personal one, so technically it shouldn't even have such content.
I used to have layouts for download, but nobody liked them, so I took them down.

I thought about offering free PHP scripts, but meh... I'm lazy :P

Thanks a lot for your time, I'll be returning the review later today.

First I have a question, what’s up with blogging sites wanting to use brown, tan, and ORANGE of all the colors in the color spectrum, is that all that’s left to satisfy you guys now. I mean really, it beats the reason out of reviewing sites if I hate the colors, you know, you made the colors work though which isn’t new in my case, I’ve reviewed tons of sites so let’s see what you’ve got that impressive! Nice centered design, I have no idea what those lines are doing in the background, and they just look hideous and repulsive! Please if that was part of the design, kill it, I bet that already killed 2/3 of your traffic! Anyway, aside from that style which looks pretty elementary, I’d have to say I’m not liking the whole horizontal navigation idea so much. What’s with the bags and what in the world is LIANKO? You really need to explain your site name if it’s not going to be in English, because let’s face it, most of the world was boring into English and believe me doll, it’s not going anyway till aliens decide to show their fugly faces here. The fonts cute, so is the dividing strategy you used, I like the titles not being so huge and the font and key words being right there, CUTE SMILEYS! Love the comments system; I see Vera is your name, how wonderful. Nice profile structure. Not too much but enough to say that’s me. You’re articles are very informative! Keep up the awesome work if you can. On Lianko, it explains enough to make me annoyed, so I’ll say pretty nice simple outgoing site. Nothing too special but then again, nothing too dull.

    Vera's Response:

I'm sorry to have pissed you off, though I'm not entirely sure what I did.

If you looked at my previous layouts, you'll see that I used a lot of different colors. As for my current choice well, I like orange.

I'm sorry you don't like the background, most people said they liked them, so I didn't think to change them. They're just some random empty rectangles with orange borders.

I don't quite understand why you're annoyed by my about page. It does explain my site's name, which you've been complaining about...

I'm glad you like the smileys, though they were not made by me (link on the credits page).

Thanks for taking the time to review my site, and I'm sorry I annoyed you so much.

    UPDATED 26 Mar 09:
P.S. I'd advise you to get off your high horse in regards to the whole world speaking English. There are much more people who don't speak it, than you might suspect.

Hi Vera! How goes life? I'm going to try to review your site today. :) :)

    Layout
I'm glad you made a new layout. I was getting tired of the chess pieces. They reminded me of how bad I was at that game. :( I like that you chose orange, like I said, not many people can successfully pull off orange; they always seem to overdo it. I like the shopping bags you've chosen, but what's the spiky thing on one of the bags? Is it a tree? And the Lianko seems to be a little bit dirty on the edges. Like the title seems a little... blurry. I like the way you've set up your navigation. :)

    Blog
I almost always find your blogs interesting. I just wish you'd blog more often. :)

    Content

    Vera -
The Webmisstress - This page is set up nicely. Quick information at the top, and more details underneath.
Questions Asked - Nothing really to say. I like these pages though, since I like asking questions. Inquisitive minds need to know your favorite type of cupcake!
Random Stories - These are nice. You should write more of these. Romantically Uncomfortable was humorous. I never really have thought about the after of walking romantically into a sunset. Even though I know the exact feeling of squishy shoes and soaked clothes. When in Crisis is also amusing and well written as well. How you managed to turn a (slightly) mundane situation into an adventure that had me wondering what will happen is beyond me.
Fanlistings - Nothing much to say other than the intro amused me. ...lots of stuff.

    Articles -

    Website Reviewing
WPR Sites - An Introduction - Nicely organized and written. This sentence seems odd to me though: WPR is a more comfortable way of spelling Web Page Review. You call it a spelling which seems weird to me. Might just be me though.
Why Make a Site - Also nicely written and organized. :)
First Impression - Still written well and organized well. You know what other useless splash thing I hated? The break out of frames link that popped the same page up in a new window.
Aesthetically Challenged/Coding/Taking up Reviewing - Well written and organized. Nothing much to say.
Feedback for Reviewers - More people should read this. Especially since so many get their panties in a bunch over reviews that don't praise them as a god...
    Creative Writing -
Get Rid of Writer's Block - I particularly enjoyed this one. I always seem to have a case of writer's block. Ho hum.

Site - Nicely organized, like all your pages. I like that this still shows a little of your personality instead of just being a plain site page. The explanation behind your site is interesting. :)

    Overall
I enjoy your site. I don't feel like I had many helpful things to say, but I also don't feel like there's a lot for me to say. I enjoy a lot of your articles, and enjoy your blog as well. :)

The spiky thing is the ribbon-wannabe on top of a gift box... which didn't turn out that well, so it got demoted toward the back of the bags :P I wanted to simply leave the bags, but it seemed too empty so I stuck in another bit of... stuff :P

Yeah... the title... one day I will sit down and learn how to edit text in GIMP. Until then... um... well... *shifty look*

First impression: Ehrm, Don’t like the layout. It’s kind of weird. I really don’t like anything about it. It’s organized at least
Vera: You’re an interesting gal. I also love Bones. Liked reading your bio. I think the footnotes are a bit much but I understand the use of them.
Tutorials: The WPR is more of an article rather a tutorial. Maybe a renaming of this section is in order. Also, you said you were a computer programmer. Let’s see some tutorials of that. People are always looking for new things to do with html. Talk about it. After all it is how you pay the bills right? :D
Lianko: You’re a funny person (current skin disease). I loved that. Wow, me being American, I pronounced your site with a hard a but thanks for the pronounciation.

My very first impression towards your website is that it is very simple, which is good, but I do believe that the font of the title of your website at the very top does bother me a little bit. Everything else looks pretty decent.

You've got a really nice colorscheme. No clashing colors. Great navigation links. Oraganized blog section and great footer. The reason why I rated your website 3.5 is probably because just the whole look might be a little too plain? I like how at the top of the blog, the title and the subtexts are aligned slightly further to the right so that they don't go on the design on the left, however, the title of the blogs and subtexts continue to be like that as you go down further which makes it a tiny bit odd because there's nothing there XD, do you get what I mean by that? Your blog's title, date, time, and FILED UNDER sections are all moved slightly to the right. Looks great for the first blog because they don't get in the way of the chess piece-looking design, but the next blog has the same thing and it just looks really empty right there =x no big deal though, just odd from this island XD

Another thing I like about your site is that you don't have unnecessary "stuff" like bad quality... graphics, resources, etc. It's just your blog, some tutorials that answers good questions, and just more information about you and the site itself. It gives a clean feeling and it just makes the site look a lot more small and useful. No confusion.

I guess the only main thing that bothers me slightly is the text font of the title of your website. I guess it doesn't really fit with the simple professional look of the rest of your site, but idk, this is a review from my glasses so, I think you did really well with your site =) good job!

Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?

    Vera's Response:

Yeah... a lot of people told me about the site title and the offset of the blog post titles. It will be different in my next layout. The latter was done mainly due to laziness: it was easiest to do without chaning the coding drastically.

Heh, I don't have that "unnecessary" stuff, seeing as I'm not particularly interested in it, nor am I very good at making it.

Thanks for taking the time to review me. I'm glad you liked my site (for the most part).

Hey Vera! I have never actually talked to you but I see you around here and there, so it's going to be fun to review your site! :) Here goes...!

    First Impression:

Everyone surely knows by now that I am one of those people who values design above all else. My very first impression was that the colors work well together but it's just a bit plain on the design side. Your blog posts don't seem to be 2482491 paragraphs long, which I rather like. :) You space things out so there isn't one large block of text to read, which I rather like as well. Things seem set up nicely, it's rather pleasing to the eye.

I love how you have footnotes, that is really fun. Also I see a couple of the posts on the main page have questions that are bold for readers to answer. I think this is a good way to make your visitors feel welcome, very nice idea.

    Coding:

Your CSS is valid, cookies cookies for you! Your XHTML has 8 errors (this was from the index page where I checked) but it appears that one misplaced {ul} is causing the problems. I hate how one little thing causes a string of errors!

Also, there is an empty div (It's literally just {div} {/div} ) after in your footer, just a heads up. Other than that little thing, your coding is also HTML tidy. :) So it appears you pay attention to code detail, which I admire. It's something I am learning about right now.

    Design:

Like I said in my first impression, the design isn't bad at all. I think maybe it lacks the element of texture. My suggestion for that you be maybe a very light textured pattern on your background. You know, the same color but put some texture into it. I think a bold texture wouldn't look right, but one that you could barely see might make it have just enough to cover all elements of design.

The image (I am guessing they are pawns? I am not a chess player so perhaps that assumption is WAY off, if so forgive me please.) is neat but I think the drop shadow is not quite right. I think it is simply because it covers the content area (very light color) and the background area (with a darker color) but the shadow does not vary in darkness. It should be darker on the top half where it is over the background color to look more realistic. The 3d effect of them is quite nice, I must admit. I'm not very good with 3d images, haha. I tend to shy away from them, but you do it very well so I commend you on this.

(Ok I just want to note that I ventured into the 'Lianko' section of the site and saw the note that they are indeed chess pawns, which makes me feel smart now! Woo!)

I also just noticed that the footer is dynamic, which confused me at first simply because it's so far down there that by the time I get to it, I feel like I am ready to move on to a different subject maybe. I have ADHD so with all things, I flit to and fro so perhaps this is just a personal preference. I realize you do not have a sidebar so this is why the footer is dynamic.

Woah, I just clicked 'Lianko' in the breadcrumb navigation and it took me straight to the dynamic footer! I feel as though I keep discovering secrets, which is cool, but also for first time visitors it's harder for them to know exactly where to go or what to click without being labeled. As I am sure you deal with a lot, most of the people who come to our sites are generally inexperienced designers/navigators and maybe a tad bit slow in the head (LOL) and lord knows we have to accommodate them.

A minor thing I noticed was that the tabs for navigation, the curved edges are very fuzzy. They also aren't as curved as the sides of the layout, which I think it would look grand if they matched. I have been messing with the neato shape tool that Photoshop offers (the rounded rectangle one) a LOT lately, so that might be why it stands out to me so much.

One last little thing about design is that line at the bottom, in the footer, that separates the footer content and the copyright notice. I think it looks a little out of place since the rest of the layout seems pretty fluid (curved lines, the softness) and it's really chunky/blocky. I might suggest something that doesn't look as 3D chunky because even though the pawns are 3D, they are a very soft kind.

    Content

Aww, no pictures! Even if there are no photos of you, I would love to see some sort of photos somewhere, especially in the 'Vera' section! Maybe a neat photo you took of something that is special to you. Of course, that is pretty cliche nowadays, but it's something I've come to enjoy seeing because everyone seems to put up different kinds of photos.

I still keep forgetting about the footer, though, to be honest. I feel so dumb, haha. Anyway, while on the subject of the footer, I think the 'Upcoming Content' idea is great! It's somewhat of a teaser, making me want to come back to see if it's up yet or not... Which also makes me want to share that I think your site is very welcoming. It makes me want to come here more than once and makes me want to explore it. A lot of sites don't do that. In a sense I think they are "cold" while yours seems "warm" and "inviting". :)

Again, more footnotes. Again, still loving them...!

The 'Tutorials' section confused me a bit since once you click on it, it dives right in to a tutorial. I was expecting some kind of list so I could choose which one I wanted to read. Then I realized this was the only one (with plans for more, I saw! I am getting the hang on this footer thing finally! XD) and wondered why the section was plural. Not a huge deal at all, just a little thing to think about maybe? A question for that: Once you have written more tutorials, do you plan on making a list? If not what are your plans for that? I'm just being nosy, sorry! *sheepish grin*

Oh my gosh Vera, I am terrified of reviewing you now. I just found that review that you got from Timebomb Reviews. You scare me..! Haha I guess since I got this far, no need for me to chicken out now! Well, at least I can spell and make valid points, unlike that person, right? XD Right? Right...? Ahh, enough poor attempts at humor.

Back in the day, I would have considered lack of visitor goodies lack of content. Now that I am older and have expanded my horizons a bit, I realize that people should not have to be slaves to their visitors to get visits (*cough*likeme*cough*) and that a lot of sites really do have a lot of content to go through. Your site is one of those to me. There is plenty to read here and go through. I hope you add more sometime so I can be a greedy little visitor and have more to do here, though. Moving on to the "Conslusion"... (ha, see what I did there? XD)

    Final Thoughts:

I think your design has wonderful colors, is pleasing to the eye and I think that you are full of wit. Very interesting to read about. Your structure is very neat, which makes it easy to read. Really just little, tiny things here and there for me to say. Somehow, Miss Mimi-who-talks-too-much managed to make this review over 1000 words. Don't ask, I think it's a talent of mine? :)

I gave you a 4/5 because your site is near perfection in my opinion but I would love to see a little more content in there so I could spend more time at your site. Hope I didn't bore you to death here! :)

    Vera's Response:

Wow, thanks so much for the lengthy review. I really appreciate it. Makes me feel a bit bad that I keep putting off uploading some of my "old" content (from my previous domain).

Thanks for the heads up in regards to the XHTML. Fixed it: Wordpress seemed to mess up some of my coding. The div at the end of the footer is needed for the rounded background.

Yeah... my navigation logic sucks, I intend to have a subnavigation instead and use the footer differently... still dynamically.

Thanks for taking the time to review me. I really appreciate it and am glad you found it welcoming. I'm honestly working on stuff, just.. you know work tends to suck so much out of me XP

I like that the bottom navigation changes depending on the page, although I did get a bit lost at first with this system. All the same, it's different and nice. I was wandering though why there were duplicate links on certain pages, like the "About" page for example. The "Fine Print" and "Useful Information" contain the exact same three links. Probably a little change in the coding could fix this. n_n

I also like your writing style. No smilies or "ha ha"'s all over the place if you see what I mean. I write with emoticons a lot so it's refreshing to read your website. You're also an adult and have opinions that you can back up. I was wandering if it would be possible to see any display of your other skills? Perhaps some art work?
I would enjoy looking at those too.

I feel that perhaps your current site theme doesn't reflect the exciting and interesting person that you are. It feels a little dull. Not bad, just dark and dull. But that's not the impression I get of you through your writing. Oh and you need a photo! Oh yes definitely need a photo. I need to know who owns the words that make me smile or think or convince me of something. n_n

I look forward to the content you plan to add to Lianko, as right now the single article on web page reviewing websites doesn't really give me enough to feed on for a second visit.
Now I have a question for you! n_n What would you rate your website?

    Vera's Response:

*has a violent coughing fit* Artwork?? Ibelieve I'll just take pity on your poor eyes and spare you ;-)

Oh right... I remember about the duplicating links, I'll remove it ASAP, thanks. I think I mostly left it in there to fill up space, heh.

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you like my writing style. Guess all this submitting for a review business is bad for my chronic laziness.

What would I rate my own website? I wouldn't... it's priceless XP

Your site doesn't look like a personal site. In fact, it looks rather impersonal. Nothing about your design reflects your personality in any way! I know you've been trying to work out a new design, and I really look forward to it. Because, currently, I feel as if I could read your blog through a feed reader, and not be missing out on anything. And that sucks.

The actual layout of everything doesn't have anything wrong with it. It's well spaced, the footer is clean and easy to read, the navigation serves its purpose. The colours are just boring. The chess pieces are lovely, but they don't tell me anything about you. Unless you are a secret underground chess sorceress.

I also dislike the way the text indents on each post, as if chess pieces were meant to be there. It would be so much easier to float a div in the upper corner, left align everything, and let the text wrap around it.

Why is the Vera tab faded out?

I remember liking the layout previous to this one, but it wasn't up for very long after I met you.

Your pages relating to yourself and your site are all quite well written and provide adequate information. Your Tutorials page leads to an introduction to WPR. Okayyy. Not exactly a tutorial. More of an article. This area definitely needs some fattening up.

I think what it comes down to is this: You know what makes a good design. You do plenty of reviews, that really make sense. So, why doesn't your site reflect this? Honestly, I read the reviews you write, and then I go to your site and I feel disappointed. :( I know that you're working on it, but please, for the sake of everyone, try to work faster? :P You have so much potential and this design doesn't even reach close to brushing it.

    Vera's Response:

Yeah, I know, I really need to work faster. I just have to find motivation and time. Plus... I need to actually be pleased with my layout before uploading it.

Thanks for the review. I'll... ugh... try to work faster. XP

I'll be reviwing your site in IE 7.0 :)

First impression: Boring.. Really, looks like you had an idea for someone really special and things just didn't turn out all that special. I'm sorry, but the layout is really, really important for me when I'm reviewing.

Content: I'll be reviewing each category that can be reached from the front page :)
Vera: I like your name. It's pretty. And gosh - You speak that many languages? That's really, really cool :o The basics are there, nothing is missing here ;b
Tutorials: TutorialS as in plural? There's only one, right? ;) A little misleading. It's a really godo one though - you should add more. As a programmar you'll probably know a million things that could be helpfull to others.
Lianko: Aww, I like this :p You're able to laugh at yourself and your given talent in certain situations such as when designing a new layout ;D You made me smile :)

Final words: Do something about the layout. You have a totally cool site, and there's no reason to present it any different :b

    Vera's Response:

Yeah, I've been meaning to do something different, unfortunately my job has a tendency to suck out all my creative juices :P

Erm... there's supposed to be more. But I've yet to upload all of them (need to rewrite parts of them).

I'm not entirely sure why I get 1star though, seeing as you claim that I have a "totally cool site". Sure, I understand that some people put much more stock into the design part, than me. But well... how does this score differentiate my site from one that you hated in its entirety.

First Impression: Love the colors. Navigation is easy to find. I've just done tabs on my site, but you've pulled it off so much better. I'm jealous. I like the pawns. It's an interesting effect and the red goes very well with the other colors.

Vera: I enjoy your writing style. You're very open about how you see yourself - with a love it or leave it attitude that shows confidence. That in itself is attention grabbing. I also like how you've included your navigation in your footer. My only suggestion would be to include some type of way of letting visitor's know that the Bones TV series link takes them off-site.

Tutorials: It took me to WPR Introduction. That was not the type of tutorial I was expecting to be honest. I enjoyed it. I'm not exactly sure I would classify it as a tutorial. Then again, I may have my head stuck on the crappy teeny-bopper tutorials that litter the net. It just seems more like an article than a tutorial to me. :)

Lianko: Current Skin Disease – I like your chess pawns. They're all fat, happy, and original to you.

Overall: I enjoyed your site. Your writing is witty and your style has an easy flow to it. Your color choices are soft and professional looking. I like your chess pieces because they're original. :) The only suggestion I would have is maybe finding a way to differentiate between on and off site links.

    Vera's Response:

Thank you, I'm glad you like it, even though I don't deserve the high rating (it's still under construction... and has been for over a year -.-;; ).

Regarding the Tutorial, that one was initially supposed to read "Articles and Tutorials", however because the tab background has a fixed size (cause I'm lazy) I settled on simply tutorials.

Thanks for the lovely review. I greatly appreciate it.
