    First Impression:
When I first come into your site, my eyes are glued to the screen. I've seen quite a few of your previous layouts and you always put the designs together so well.

    Layout/Design
As I stated above, you always put layouts together so well. In my opinion though, you're sort of wasting your time because the further down the page I go, I sort of get lost. Don't get me wrong, you have it very organized, but it just seems to me that you've got way too much going on all at once.

    XHTML/CSS
You've got 41 errors when I check your XHTML. I know most people don't want to bother with it, but I think you should. You put a LOT of time and effort into your site, I think you should take the time to fix these errors. I know after I did, I felt a lot better and your site definitely deserves it. With your CSS, you've got almost 600 warnings. Do you realize how much of a difference it would make in your site if you fixed all of those errors?

I hope you take some of what I said into consideration. By the way, your site was my first review.

Hi Jay, It's Laura from piano-girl.co.uk. I hope you enjoy your review and I hope you find it useful.

    First Impressions
I've been visiting your site for a while, and I always think "whoa" when I enter your site. Your layouts have never failed to impress me. Although, I think there might be a bit too much going on. Maybe it's just me, but I like fairly simple layouts and although I understand that you might want a bit of information on your front page I don't think that people need huge amounts of content on their home-pages. Perhaps you could tone it down, just a bit? It's just a bit hard on the eyes when you first enter the site! Overall though, your first impressions are good. I would defiantly keep scanning if this was the first time I'd ever entered your website, so well done!

    Layout/Design
I've sort of covered this above, but your homepage has a lot on it. It kind of looks a bit cluttered? I guess that could be fairly easily sorted. Your colour scheme is great; I've never seen these kind of colours on a website before but you make it work very well.
I'm no where near a coding expert so I'm not going to criticize you too much as I know that I myself have a lot to work on, but nether your HTML or your CSS is valid. Apparently your HTML has 96 errors and your CSS has 6, so you should probably start with correcting some of the errors in your HTML.
Overall your layout and designing skills are really very good. You can defiantly see your creativity show through. However, your coding needs work, so I would recommend you try and sort that before changing your graphics at all. But don't forget I love your layouts; you can see you're a very talented person.

    General Content
I love reading your writings. You are really very talented in that area. I would love to see more. Not because you don't have enough but simply because I absolutely love reading them. Keep up with your writing, it's really amazing.
Your "Extra" content is nice. No celebrity images which is always good and it all seems nicely made. Although a lot of sites offer the same kind of content as you do (on your extra page, anyway). You should really make your writings the main part of your content just because you are really talented in that area and it makes your website different from anybody else's.
Tutorial-wise: you're tutorials are good, and well explained. Although I don't really think you should be offering HTML/CSS tutorials when your site is not valid.

Overall your site is nice, I enjoy visiting it and I've enjoyed reviewing it. I am going to give you 4 stars. If you didn't have 96 HTML errors you'd probably get higher. I think if you validated both your HTML and CSS I'd have to award you 5 stars. You are really very talented, Jay, so don't let your coding bring you down.

I hope you've found your review useful :)

Thank you Laura! I really appreciated the review. Oddly enough, when I check for valid CSS, I get that it's leverl 2.1 valid with 0 errors. Maybe you checked the wrong stylesheet. As for the HTML.. well I know that's a mess. Right now I think, still, almost ALL browsers show my layout just fine. Or at least readable. Bleh.

But thanks for the review! I'm going to review you now and I'll make sure to simplify my homepage in the future.

Hey there (: I'm Becca from flyingalong.com and I'm going to give you a review :)

First impression: Wow. This looks like a very organised little site. Well, big site. The colour scheme is gorgeous and it's all very neat and tidy. If I was going to do marks you'd get 10/10 here ;)

Layout & coding: as I said, I love your layout. I especially love the 'the recent' section. How do you do that? I'm assuming it's your recent blogs..
All the little wordpress extras are fab, although, aren't they all the same thing? seriously.. the calender, the recent thingy I was just saying about. Also, I love your navigation.. Seriously. That's amazing. How do you do that? Is it a special animator or is it a code? 10/10 here aswell xD

Tutorials: well, what can I say? You must have put a hell of a lot of effort into this site. I'm not going to comment on every page because, well, there are too many! but I'm going to make a mention on each section.
Photoshop : Wow. You really know your stuff. Incredibly helpful and easy to follow. Your a master at tutorial-ing :)
paint shop pro : Yep. Yep. All very easy to follow and helpful.
wordpress : Wow. These are very very easy. I'll be using these, let me say. Very Very good.
cutenews : Yep. No complaints here either.
HTML / CSS : I'm just not going to bother, I think you know that it's all spiffing. Yes, I did just say that :P
    yeah yeah, 10/10 again
Extras : Resources, All very good. You really are a talented guy. I especially love your brushes, are you planning on doing Paint shop pro direct downloads, or just have photoshop and imagepacks? Because that'd definately bring in the hits, not that you need more. you must have tonnes, I mean theres 1000 comments. Anyways, back to the extras,
Oh Dear Oh Dear. Looks like I've finally found a problem ( not exactly huge but ) you have celebrity icons. Tut Tut. I know I know, everyone's complaining about celebrity images, personally, I don't care if people use them or not but I hate the nagging from the people that do care and they have a point - You lose hits. People who don't like those celebrities are less likely to return. articles, other.. all good. I'll give you 1
9/10. The icons aren't exactly a huge ginormous issue.

spelling & grammar: well, to be honest, I can't be bothered to scan your site word for word for this, but judging from what I have read you have a good sense of grammar and spelling so I'm not going to be mean and pick out the typos. :) 10/10
to conclude: I love your site very much and can't wait to come back as a visitor instead of a reviewer - The way to enjoy my stay. So, If my maths is correct, and I hope I don't embarrass myself and get this wrong is:
    - drum roll -
    ...
    ...
    ...
    49 / 50! Well, Wow! That's pretty darn good, Considering I'm a stubborn fussy girly normally :)

    :)
Congratulations. Ps: You're my first ever review. Thank you x

    THE LAYOUT:
Wow 53 errors and 10 warnings for the markup, along with the 27 errors and 144 warnings found within your CSS. Jay you really should get this fixed, it's not hard at all and once you do your site's chances of running in all browsers correctly will increase greatly.
When you first enter your site you notice the organized layout that you have up. I personally feel that there is too much content at the top. It confuses me sometimes and the navigation doesn't have enough emphasis so people know that's where it is. I feel the Calendar can go into the sidebar and you could make the width of the entire layout and little smaller. I've always believed that the whole "recent post" thing was sort of redundant when you can just scroll down to the actual blog to see that.
Personally I think the sidebar is too plain, it's too wide and you don't have enough stuff to fill it out it some parts. The cam thing needs to go, although your a good looking guy and a camera whore :P I just think that it's a waste of space. I also don't like how the title of the sidebar is outside of the sidebar itself, maybe if you had it inside with a different background color it would look nicer.
The top header is one big .PNG image, like others have stated this can cause your site to slow down. If you own Photoshop use the slice tool to cut it into to segments. This way each smaller image loads separately and goes a lot faster and if you can save them as .GIF.

    MAIN:
Your blogs are always interesting and fun to read :)

    TUTORIALS:
photoshop: I guess if your a beginner at PS you would find these helpful but since I pretty much know most about it I don't find it useful xD.
Most of your PS tutorials are well written and you've managed to cover what's popular at the moment.

paintshop pro: I don't use this program, I used to and I don't like it so blah

wordpress: I don't think you need to have the "how to install WP" tutorial. Wordpress.org covers that and they do it really well. Though if someone couldn't find it on the WP site and stumbled across yours and found it, it could be helpful.
In your "customizing wp themes" tutorial the "this layout" (http://thisfiasco.net/tutorials/wp/dirvengentelayout.html) link does not work. I think instead of using one of the WP default themes to edit you should provide an easy ready to use theme of your own. Mainly because the default themes contain many pages to edit which can get confusing when you only have to edit style.css, sidebar.php, index.php etc...
I really don't understand why you have a tutorial for the cypher_site-statisics plugin, when the actual site shows you how to use it.

cutenews: I won't even click that, Cutenews is nothing but a spam magnet and really shouldn't be used by anyone.

    HTML/CSS:
like someone said it doesn't make sense to offer these when your HTML/CSS isn't even valid.
Back and forward as well as disabling right click are completely useless and I'm sure you know why.
I think your Centering Your Website Layout tutorial is way to complex when it's quite an easy thing. Just tell them to put margin: 0 auto; for the container or for whatever they want to be centered.

    EXTRA:
Backgrounds: Your backgrounds kinda stink >.> except for the very first one sorry :(
Brushes: The previews are a little blurry I like things sharp :P but these are nice and could be useful!
Graphic Textures: I don't understand why their called Graphic textures but okay.
Icons: Your icons are cute, but their celeb pics so you know that's bad.
Icon Textures: These could be included with the other texture page! I like these a lot!
Wallpapers: Celebrities on your wallpapers *smacks* P:< I don't see why you have a credit on them. They are for personal use and no one else is going to see them but the person using it.
Web Icons and Pixels: The first set is bad but the others are CAYOOOTE ^.^

    GALLERY:
    ...camera whore *cough cough*

    ARCHIVES:
    self explanatory

    LINKS:

First Impression: Wow the site looks quite organised and the layout is great! It shows how dedicated and talented you are with your site.

Navigation: Easy to find plus I really like that line that follows you when you hover on a link.

Layout: Great, it looks brilliant and doesn't take too long to load! I'm not quite sure what "The Recent" is doing there, in my opinion I think it isn't very useful. You could easily replace that with "Intro".

Validation: 27 Errors in the CSS & 99 errors in XHTML. CSS is quite easy to fix but XHTML takes some time. In the end its really your decision whether or not you want to validate everything. Your RSS feed is valid.

Tutorials: Neatly organised with icons and a description of each. The icons you've made are a good size. All tutorials make learning quick and easy.
-Photoshop: You've got quite unique tutorials that are very useful.
-PSP: You explain things in an easy way to understand!
-Wordpress: I like this tutorial section the best, it shows how I can install wordpress & use it. Plus it shows how to add some stats.
-Cutenews: I don't think many people use this, appart from that they are pretty much easy to understand
-HTML/CSS & Java Tutorials: Great! There is a mixture of them here for people who need help. Plus the code isn't in some small box, you can actually see all of it!

Extra: I'd call this content, people might think it is extra things besides content.
-Backgrounds: Very nice! You don't see these everywhere.
-Brushes: The ABR files are in a ZIP file and there are imagepacks. Your brushes are definitely worth using!
-Graphic Textures: 2 pages of them, great!
-Icons: Lots of them in a variety of colours. I'm guessing there is credit for the icon bases in your credits page.
-Icon Textures: They come in sets! Very organised and useful.
-Wallpapers: They come in two different sizes, nice.
-Webicons: Wow, great quality, free icons!
-Creating a website: Excellent article for beginners.
-Services: It's very nice of you to do that, all for free!
    -Writing: Neatly organised.

Gallery: A basic page with some pictures of you.

Archives: Very useful to people who want to see how often you blog.

Links: You've got quite alot of friends!

About: Great explanation of everything related to your domain.
-Likes/Dislikes: I have to agree with you on most of them.

Overall: Your a great site owner, with a great site filled with tutorials and resources for everyone. There aren't much improvements needed to be made. Keep up the good work!

    My Review:

    --Style/Design--

I agree with what Lexxi said. I expected your site to be the best of the best. I am sorely disappointed in the cluttered and overly-busy layout that I see. I am so overwhelmed. I don't even know where to begin, really. Your header top is nice, but everything else between your top banner and your entry content needs to be slimmed down. TOO MUCH GOING ON. Get rid of the "recent entries" - put it on your sidebar. The calendar should also go on the sidebar. There is waaay too much going on. I had trouble finding your navigation amazingly. Make it stand out. Right now it blends too much with everything else. I would not say your site is "ProFreshional". It is casual and hip, yes, but not professional. There is a big difference. Your header image is one GIGANTIC PNG, which is BAD for loading time. You could easily split it up into what you actually need.

    --Content--

Your gallery of pictures of yourself is a little much. I was hoping for some cool photography, but I guess I was too hopeful. The tutorials are very short, and not well written. Your blogs are OK, but everything is pretty cluttered. Your site seems like one big link dump. Maybe make a separate website for those?

    --Coding--

Your CSS is throwing 17 errors and 124 warnings at me. Not good. I recommend you run your CSS and XHTML through W3C validation to see what I am seeing. It will improve cross-browser compatibility and appearance in the long run and improve your skill overall.

    --Originality--

Your site is like a MySpace - it's cluttered, full of links, tons of pictures of yourself with no shirt on, and it has no real point other than to socialize with friends and "be cool". Not that interesting to me. Maybe you should consider adding articles or real meaty entries? I don't really see any of that here.

    --Overall Thoughts--

The style you are going for has been done plenty of times before. You have a long way to go. You are 15, though, so I think you will improve with time. Just don't take it too seriously. You'll get better. No worries.

    Hello Jay

First Impression: From the reviews below, I expected this website to be spectacular. When I first see your site, however, I feel like my eyes are moving all over the place. There is no focal point to your design and there are so many boxes everywhere. Not only that, most of the boxes are different colors. It's confusing and makes me a little frustrated. My suggestion would be to move your calendar, recent updates, about yourself section etc. to the sidebar. Also, ditch the "Sponsors" header in the sidebar since I don't see any of your sponsor links anyway. Since, I'm talking about your sidebar I'd like to mention that it is inconsistent with your layout. Your main image is round, as well as the calendar, recent, etc. boxes, while your sidebar content is square. Pick one and use it throughout your layout. Designwise, your layout is okay. The colors are good and easy on the eyes. I don't like the bottom header. It's competing with the main image (top header). They're exactly the same size and the font size for the bottom header is even bigger then the top. Also, it would be nice if you actually linked to Wordpress in your bottom header. I like your implementation of Wordpress. The comments page in your blog entries are well put together. I like the alternating colors for each comment and the big avatar image.

Coding: Your site has a plethora of CSS/HTML/Wordpress etc. tutorials, yet your site is not anywhere near validated. Validating your website is not too complicated and there are many sites with helpful information on what you need to do to get it validated. I wouldn't trust a website offering HTML tutorials when their HTML isn't up to standards. For reference, your XHTML has 99 errors and 10 warnings. Your CSS has 17 errors and 124 warnings.

    Content:
Main- Your blog seems interesting. Your blog covers a good variety of topics and they're an enjoyable read. I would suggest proofreading some of your entries since I've noticed some misspellings and fragmented sentences.

Tutorials- At first glance, you seem to have a lot of tutorials. Looking through the selection my eyes first shift down to the Cutenews tutorials. Oh my gosh, no! Cutenews is evil. It's dangerous, hackable, spammy and overall it's not something you would want to teach other people, especially beginners in webdesign who rely on your website for tutorials.
Photoshop Tutorials- Your first tutorial, "Color Manipulation" seems well written, but the final result is disappointing. Refer to the finished product and look at the shoulder. This is the part that becomes the most obvious that there was a manipulation. A good photoshopped image is when you can't tell the real from the fake. Your "Grey Overlay", "Creating a Silhouette", and Techno Backdrop tutorial was well executed, although I'd like to mention that you spelled "Silhouette" wrong on the Photoshop index page. I didn't enjoy your Shimmering Effects tutorial. I would have liked to see the original image. Also, the finished product didn't look shimmery at all. It just looked like there is a bright spot in the image that is sorely out of place and those blue lines make it seem like the girl is trying to get through security lasers or something. :D The rest of your PS tutorials seem okay.
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials- I don't get why your first tutorial is named "Advanced" image. Shouldn't it just be named Enhanced image since advanced makes it seem like the tutorial is for an advanced level or something of the sort. Your PSP tutorials seem simple and useful enough.
Wordpress Tutorials- For your Customizing Wordpress tutorial, your demo page is not working. Maybe look into that and try to fix the broken link. Also, this tutorial was not indepth as it should have been. The hardest part people have trouble with when using Wordpress is how to customize a layout. You should go into detail about what each of the pages work, how they interact together, how the PHP works, etc. instead of saying, "paste this here and you'll get this". Your other tutorials seem fine. Some of them I feel are unnecessary though. For example, the installing Wordpress tutorial. There are literally hundreds of sites explaining how to install Wordpress and there's even an explanation on the Wordpress site. It seems a little ridiculous when most of the steps are self explanatory.
Cutenews- you already know my sentiments about Cutenews so I'm going to skip these tutorials.
HTML/CSS- For your Centered Layout Tutorial, it would be nice to give information about what the code means. If I were a beginner in CSS I would not know what #container is, and the fact that I can edit it to be whatever name I wanted it to be. You can also explain that this div code should encompass your whole "body" to work correctly. Be more detailed as beginning designers will not know all of the coding lingo. For your external style sheet tutorial, I just wanted to point out that having the "style" tags is completely unnecessary since the point is that it is external and "link rel" code locates the CSS. Your other tutorials seem fine.
Tutorials Conclusion- What I really liked about each of your tutorials is the implementation of the Highslide JS. It was a good choice in terms of setting up your images because I hate sites that have the thumbnail that opens the images in a new window, or all of the full size images in one page. One major suggestion is to proofread! The majority of your website is made up of articles and entries so you want to make sure that they are all well written with minimal errors. There were many, many spelling errors when I read through your tutorials. Also, be more detailed about your tutorials, as tutorials are supposed to help the visitor, not confuse them even more.

Gallery- When I clicked on this link, I expected stock photography that you've taken. Instead, I'm greeted with an overwhelming amount of photos of you. It would be interesting if you had pictures of you traveling or at events with friends, but the majority of them is just pictures of you getting a new haircut, with long fingernails, and the classic "Myspace" type picture of yourself in front of a mirror with the camera covering half of your face. It's a little ridiculous. My suggestion would be to ditch this section altogether and just use one or two images in your "biography" page.
About- When I came to this link I was expecting information about yourself. I suggest you change this link to "Site" or "Site Info" or something since it's a little confusing. I notice you have a link at the very bottom of the page to "About the Owner". Why not put it in the main navigation, since after all, this is mostly personal website? The page and information is fine, but I find it a little redundant to have the "Contact" link when it's already on the main menu and the Owner page.
Owner Page- Your biography is under construction so I can't comment much on that. I like how on the likes/dislikes page you don't just put a big list and leave it at that, but you provide an explanation. On the Music Interests section, I suggest you also provide a background about maybe your favorites songs from the artists and why you like them. Like I mentioned before, I liked it when you provide an explanation following your lists. It makes it more personable and interesting. I would also suggest you ditch the celebrity icons since they're copyrighted images and yadayadayada. You should know that you didn't take those images yourself and have no right to use them. You're other sections seem okay.

Conclusion: Sorry if I seemed like I was rushing towards the end of the review. I thought the review was getting unbearably long and I'm getting tired. Your website shows potential, although I feel that there are so many ways you can improve your website. Some of your tutorials are helpful, but a lot of them seem like fillers or not very well put together. Some of your sections seems confusing and redundant and there are a lot of grammatical errors throughout your site. I think that's about it. Woah, this was one long review! Hope this in some way or form helped you! I hope the next time I see this website, it will have bloomed into a wonderful site.

Ah, Jay. Okay, let me do a quick review on your site since I love it so much - it rocks, haha. First off, I hate the fact that every time I go on ThisFiasco, it loads slowly... you even say it yourself, why don't you hurry up and install WP-Cache? It'd rock my world, haha. Word up, yo. Okay... moving on. How come every time I go on here, you have such an amazing layout. Yes, you have proved the fact that you can be PROFRESHIONAL... this is the only site that I have seen with such talent... not saying nobody else has talent but your talent is amazing. You're original with your layouts and everything... it's just like AGH, I wish I could be like you. You have a fan, ya know? The calender on the side of the layout is kind of annoying to me because the tables aren't... nice to me, haha. Why are they spaced up like that? You should change the background color of that to transparent - it'd be cool, haha. =] Maybe... haha. Also, your sidebar is bigger than usual! Nobody really uses that wide sidebars... so, hm, unique much? Nice. The cam on your sidebar is too small, too, lol. There's like so much more space you can take up on there, Jay! As you may notice, I'm doing things as I look at them, haha. The footer is amazing, too. Good thing you used a graphic to be set as a footer. That was a good idea... everybody uses text these days. Oh, and I LURRVVVVVV your navigation bar... the java script enabled on it is pretty nice. You used this in TF.Wiizdom, right? I remember something like that, haha. =D

It's pretty cool that you use "Extra" for content, but to be honest, if I were a visitor who had never went to your site before, I don't think I would have known there would be content. I would probably think that "Extra" would be site-wise-related but, there is a Site link, so I can not really say anything, haha.

Aw, man, I love your backgrounds... they are very nice. Your icon textures? I love them to death, yo. I never knew you had webicons! They are awesome - to be honest, I do not think the download buttons impress me too much - people could make those in seconds. Ah, I just looked over everything and overall, your site amazes me (:

5 out of 5 is well good =] (Not something I would get, Jay!) Your site is just near perfect =]

geebus all these lengthy reviews XD haha well here goes my n00by review =P

so first impression when I enter your website. I am overwhelmed by the professional look to your layout it almost feels like I'm in a business website haha. Your navigation with the underline thing that follows your cursor as you hover over the link is incredibly different and unique and flashy and professional... again XD. I had to at least waste 10 mins the first time you putted a layout with that feature on it to just play with it. "The Recent" and "The Calendar" box height is the same so it makes it really pleasing to the eye. and I also like how they're different colors. It seems like your website only goes by three different colors at the current time being: they are shades of black, white, and blue! my three favorite colors =P

Yes, well, in my personal opinion, I get really @_@ when I enter a site that looks so professional haha I usually don't know where to start looking and so I just read your blog instead XD

You've got a decent amount of tutorials on your website and they are all organized into this major neatness- It just.. oh yes, that feeling when you enter into a rich person's house. They have all these luxuries that you feel like you aren't allowed to touch anything? XD yeah it's kind of that feeling when I'm at your website. Everything just sparkles and it's like "ahhh" I'm being immature, aren't I? XD

hmm when I look at the calendar, I guess the blue is a little bright, but that's nothing to complain about XP rofl-
Your friend's textbox is really organized as well. Dividing your friends into three columns. and the width of your website is really really wide o.o but the size for the content and the size for the side navigation is perfect.

Yea.. what else? Oh yes. Your graphics and resources are very high in quality rofl I use your brushes no duh XD. Yea they're irresistible so I had to download them. Your icons are really designed nicely though they feature celebs and models.. what site doesn't? o-o' well from what I know, 90% of the graphic/resource sites uses or used a celeb/model image in their layout, graphic, resource, etc.
hmm... you should make cooler link back buttons XD idk nvm sorry =x

Yes, but to conclude, I'm overwhelmed by your site all the time XD. So organized and professional. It seems as if the site look many years to build @_@ I think you did an outstanding job on your website and you yourself are an amazing person, so there's the completed 5 star for you XD
thanks for reading my n00by review =P

YAY, this is my first review ever and I'm reviewing my affie Jay, haha ;)

    Here it goes:

When I first come on to this site, well let's start from the VERRRRY beginning shall we? The site takes a bit too much time to load which bothers me a bit. Sometimes I just cross my tab cuz most of the time, I think that my internet connection dies :( So I suggest you to get working on that...

The most fun thing at your site is the navigation, lol. I just love hovering on them, haha!

There's nothing else that bothers me at this point, well not yet. Everything is looking fine ;)

The layout is really cool. I personally really really like your style. You're really original. But something makes me think that your site can be a little bit cleaner and simpler. There are so many things that are going on your site. Some stuff can be split into pages but, it still looks good ^___^

I really like how you list your tutorials list on your TUTORIALS page. very classy. All of your tutorials are really helpful and easy to understand so props to you for that ;)

I would LOVE to see some artworks at your site like also like a portfolio but also allowing people to use 'em. Your artworks and designs are also very original so people are very likely to be using it.

Also, one thing about your graphics, sometimes they seem a bit low quality although they're on .PNG format, I don't know what's making them look like that but there is nothing much to worry about here.

Overall, I think your site is great. There are only a few rooms of improvements needed here and there but you pick up the professional skills quite easily...

    Great job ;)
    Keep up the good work!

Jay, as you know I am a huge fan of your website. I visit it everyday and regularly use your tutorials.

I love the way you've designed your layout. I love the way you make it look professional aswel as personal, which is why I love your layouts so much.

I love the navigation, it's kind of fun, except the hover colour is too bright.

Your sidebar is organised and I adore your footer, it's quite sexy.

Jay!! I'm quite disappointed to find your CSS isn't valid, even my CSS is near enough valid, apart from 2 minor warnings. You actually have 17 errors and 124 warnings! View it here.

    TUTORIALS
I'm personally a huge fan of your tutorials, they have helped me a lot. I would love to see some layout tutorials though, because you have such a unique style it would be great to share it with people. Although you shouldn't really add anymore CSS tutorials seeing as you can't code correctly yourself.

    EXTRA
You don't need to link your tutorials section again, there is no need to be repetitive is there?

For the most part your content is really good, except for the useage of celebrity images. I'm guilty of it too, but you should consider removing them since you clearly have talent in other areas.

I cannot wait to read the article on designing layouts but why link it if there isn't a page? Pretty pointless.

I plugged my site whilst I was there :)

    GALLERY
You seem to be very photogenic, I'm sure you get plenty of offers. You should go into the modelling career.

Well yeah, I am not the best reviewer, I will give it a try though. This is actually my first review ever :).. Even though I don't think it's a review, it's more of a long comment lol.

    Yeah, let's start.

First of all, I think your site is amazing! And your blog is very good, you make me want to read it by writing that good. I will also be commenting alot more from now on :D
Abit more photos in the blog would be nice though.

    LAYOUT
I like the layout, it's simple and nice. It makes the site look very professional, by some reason I think of James Bond when I see it lol. Like how the colours on the header fits with the background.
The navigation is also very fun, when you hover the text it's abit too bright though.

    EXTRA
Your content is very nice and usable. I love your webicons and wallpers rock! Gotta love em.
The brushes are nice but it would be great to have them downloadable for Photoshop too ;D (There is way more photoshoppers and people using Paint Shop Pro).
Your textures are okay, I love some of them although some are just too basic. No offence, but I am no fan of 2-step made stuff with photoshop like (http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll231/tfwiizard/Textures/14.png).
I LOVE YOUR icon textures, although your icons are all high exposure which just my eyes tired watching them. But basically you are VERY GOOD at making resources ! :D

    TUTORIALS
I love your tutorials, they are very easy to understand and follow with alot of screenshots. You have a good amount of categories with a good amount of tutorials and the way you put up the images makes me want to read them.

    OTHER
It's nice how you have a Gallery up with pictures, which isn't too normal on resource sites these days. The way you've written about your site nice and you have alot of credits which is good.

Basically I love your site, and you seem like a very nice person. So I will give you 5 stars :]

Clem gave it ***-- on 16th Nov 2008 and said:

Your layout is really crowded; to be honest, I have no idea where to look!

Let's start with your colour choice. I really like it; I'm a huge fan of dark grey, and the blue you've chosen is lovely.

Your header is quite nice on its own, but all the stuff happening around it makes me sad. The navigation is quite fun to play with, so I don't have any huge issues with it, but the two boxes underneath it distract me. You don't really *need* the calendar, and the recent posts box could be added to the sidebar. I find it odd how "theboy" and "theupdates" are wider than the rest of the sidebar boxes. I would recommend shrinking them to be the same size.

If you did all this, your layout wouldn't be as distracting, and the focus would be put more on the content. I mean, I know that you want to have a nice layout, but if I get distracted by the design too much, I'm not going to stick around to read the content. It's best to have one focal point.

Your sidebar itself is a bit... large. Why have the site intro *and* your personal information? Merge them into one. I always associate "stats" on the sidebar with teenybopperish sites, and they're just taking up space. I would also remove the Cam and "Ask" (how does that belong on a sidebar?), and having Google Ads on a personal site has always struck me as kind of lame. Yours aren't intrusive, though, so if you want to keep them then I guess they're okay.

The footer is nice, but I would link "Wordpress" and "Jay".

You could increase the line height a bit, and I absolutely despise Arial at this size! I like it for headings, but for main body text, Verdana is hands down the way to go. (I do like the post dates; they look very nice!)

Your home page has a whopping 99 HTML errors. If it was one or two, I wouldn't be too perturbed, but 99? You clearly haven't paid much attention to your coding! Your CSS also has 37 validation errors and 144 warnings, which is a quite a lot! None of these errors are too hard to fix, so I would definitely recommend going through your coding and fixing them all up. (Also, just looking at your CSS, it's super long. I'm sure you could condense it to cut down on loading times.)

Your tutorials are are fine, I guess. Tbh, I can't tell a good photoshop tutorial from a crappy one anymore, but it looks like you've at least taken the time to write these yourself and make some original ones.

I would ditch the Cutenews tutorials, since they could potentially encourage people to actual use Cutenews, which would be bad and sad and blah blah blah.

Most of your HTML tutorials are pretty basic, and... I don't know, pointless? Also, disabling right click? Are you kidding me? That's REALLY teenybopper.

The backgrounds aren't very nice. The first is fine, though you didn't make the pattern yourself, but it all goes downhill from there. The next two are sickeningly girly, the one after that FLASHES, the cherries are just... ugly, the ones with words are WTF-worthy, the stars aren't very nice, and if somebody uses the Starbucks logo as the background on their website, that's very sad. The only time that background should be used is on the Starbucks website, and I doubt that will ever happen.

Your brushes are nothing special; I'm pretty sure I've seen them all about 800000000 times each, but they're nice nonetheless. Just not in any way, shape, or form original.

Some of your textures aren't bad, although I can totally figure out how to do most of them in PS myself. And... I hope they don't come with words on them, because that would make me really sad.

I don't love the icons; they're all using copyrighted images, and just aren't my thing anyway. Why not make some out of your OWN photography, or stock photography if you're not good at taking photos?

The icon textures are quite nice; I hope you own the right to these images, though!

The non-celebrity wallpapers are quite cute, but the celebrity ones aren't. Just beyond the fact that using celebrity images is against the law, graphics using them rarely look interesting! This makes me sad because you clearly have talent, judging from your other graphics, so why use celebrity graphics?

Your Download buttons look a little cheesy to me, maybe because of the drop shadow? However, I ADORE the other icons - they are super cute. I would love it if you added more colours.

"Creating a Website" is pretty generic material. You've done a decent job with it, but I'd love to see something original. Also, why link "Designing Layouts" if it goes nowhere?

"Tutorials" is redundant, since it just links to the tutorials section that I've just finished reviewing.

"Services" makes me sad. All the cutenews stuff should just be ditched, as I've already outlined, and... people need you to install Wordpress for them? Really? They can't do it on their own? All you have to do is create a database, enter the details into the config file, and run the installer. Ooh, hard. And what do you mean by "Wordpress Installation+Coding"?

Your writing is okay. I mean, I generally dislike poetry so I'm not really one to pass judgment on it, but from what I can tell it's decent.

Plugboards, haha. I remember when these were cool back in the day.

No offense, but I'm not very interested in a page of pictures of you. I was expecting the Gallery to be some pictures you've taken of, you know, other things. Photography photography, not "pictures of me" photography.

The archives are fine. Nothing to comment on.

Links are okay. They're... links. I'm not loving the @, but that's a minor detail.

I was kind of expecting this page to be about *you* - after all, this is, supposedly, a personal website. This is... okay. It's a domain page. It's not thrilling. It's... a domain page.

To get the information about you, I have to click on the "More" link at the top of the page, in the box of personal information. You have WAY too many subpages here, and my brain is hurting. Combine some of the pages. Seriously.

"Contact" leads to a 404 page.

So. I'm going to be a big meany here. Basically everyone else has given you 4 stars, and I kind of want to give you 2 to wake you up. It's clear that you have talent, but your site is disorganised in a major way, and you're using images that aren't yours. You could do better. Remember "quality over quantity", and put up high-quality content that isn't split up into 717301831 subpages. And, for god's sake, fix your layout.

    Jay! :)

Layout - Its ever so professional, the blue you used is easily my favourite colour :) The grey works well with it too. The navigation is great fun, I like the idea :D

Tutorials - The main page of this section looks good, though I seem to remember you had much smaller icons previously, they looked better as otherwise I have to scroll a reasonably long way down to find for example the HTML/CSS tutorials. On the top bit, there is a typo, it should be desired not desied. Overall, they are well presented and well written :D

Extra - The Backgrounds are good, though I am sure the Playboy logo is copyright D: I really like all the other content too, again, its all very well presented. Celeb images on the icons is a bit of a no-no though. The reads are really detailed, though the second one doesn't need to be linked until the page is there. Tutorials doesn't really need to be linked here as well as on the main nav.

Gallery - A lot of pictures of yourself. Can't really review tbh.

Archives - Again, not really reviewable, though I don't really see much point in having an archive.

Links - All the links are in the sidebar so I dunno whether these are necessary.

About - This page is fine and well written, though if I am being quite honest, the link buttons are quite poor D:

Contact page is a broken link.

Overall, very well written and presented, though a few errors throughout the site.

    4 Stars :)

    Layout
It's cool! I love the colour scheme, and especially the whizzing navigation effect (wow). You've definitely achieved a professional look without making your layout completely devoid of personality. You've established a nice balance.
The sidebar divs would also look cool with some extra padding.
The 'Contact' link in the navigation is broken. Also when you hover on 'Tutorials' the title text is: "Learn the some tips and tricks" which doesn't make sense :P
But overall I like the layout a lot!

    Content
Firstly, tutorials. I like how they're generally well-explained and easy to follow.
"Whether you're a begginer, or well experienced designer" could be phrased better - maybe "Whether you're a beginner or an experienced designer."
Also in the tutorial about external stylesheets, your example includes HTML tags which aren't necessary in an external stylesheet.
And onto resources. Pretty icon textures.
The background you are using and distributing as a resource is available as a customisable pattern on colourlovers.com (colourlovers.com > Patterns > Create New > Retro). You've said "ALL of the following backgrounds were created by me... do not remove the credit", so did you create and add the pattern to colourlovers.com? Just wondering.
The 'creating a website' page is quite informative but the first sentence ("If you are thinking of starting your own website, the first thing I reccomend that you do is become with HTML (HyperText Mark-up Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets)") doesn't make sense. I think you left out the word 'familiar'. You've added, "If you're lost already, then web-design and web management is not for you", which is quite a discouraging and negative statement for someone who wants to start learning - everyone has to start somewhere, and it would be a shame if beginners were put off by this.
It's also kind of you to provide installation services for free, and I'm sure they'd come in useful to some people.
There are a few typos here and there, which detract from the professional look you're going for, but they can be easily found and fixed.

Anyway, I think I've rambled enough. Overall you've got a great site, which is really impressive and interesting with plenty of content for the visitor. So keep up the good work :)

When I first saw this, I saw a professional but hip layout. I don't know how to introduce, so, we're moving on!

I really like playing with your navigation. It's fun and it works well with the professional-ity of the site. What I don't like about the header is the silhouette of a man with a light blue gradient. It seems that doesn't fit to the layout, though it introduces wh is the author. Perhaps, another thing?

I really like the thisfiasconet text. Looks professional. Your header addons ( the updates, calendar, etc. ) is awesome. Though, I have to complain the calendar because the days text is not good for the blue. I like the two others though. :)

The sidebar boxes, I think, needs space. Padding? Other than that, it's fine for me.

I would like to suggest to change the submit button on the search form. I think it is fine if you'll only say "Search" instead of "FIND IT!". I think you are shouting on it.

Your post dates are good! I really like it. Your icons, too are good. I think you don't need to say "Leave a comment" when you have "comments" link on your post meta data. IIt's being redundant.

When I checked your XHTML, I found 99 errors and 10 warning. It's better to fix it because everyone has different browsers and/or OS. While on CSS, you have 27 errors.

Your site is good. I love the style and the colors. All you need are minor changes and fix the XHTML and CSS. Overall, I give it 4 stars.

    First Impression:
As everyone seems to mention, the site looks wonderful. It's fun navigating and because I have the attention span of a squirrel I'd probably end up sliding through it for hours. The colors all work well together, and I'm happy that you stuck to three simple colors, and didn't pull some random one perhaps, out your butt.

    Tutorials:
When I first got to the page, I was sitting there for about a minute thinking "hmmm, how do I get to the actual tutorials ?" then I decided to scroll up and see it says at the top to click the thumbnail. This is really my fault, but I just wanted to mention that to you, some people are lazy and never read those notes. I think you should take down the cutenews tutorial, alot of sites have them, and it's really easy to hack.

    Extra:
Personally, I don't like when websites use the name 'extra' because it's not an added bonus to the site, it's another section. I like your new icons.

    Gallery:
Before I clicked the button, I was under the impression it was going to be digital art work of some sort, but it turned out to be pictures of you. Don't get me wrong, you a quite attractive, that was not what I was expecting.

    Archive:
I'm happy that you actually took the time to add that, because I hate when I'm looking for a blog, then I have to go search all over the place for it. Quite frankly, it's annoying doing that.

    About:
Wow, you must be really REALLY thankful for your friend giving you a domain. You've linked her about 3 times. One of them is broken though. Under Bought By, instead of net, it says ney. Under your credits, alot of the links are broken. I wish you'd make other buttons, no offense, but I don't particularly like them.

    Content:
At first I thought there was something wrong with your contact button at the top but then I realized it's only when you're on the tutorial, about, and extra pages. For the rest it actually works, so all you have to do is change it.

    Overall:
I like your site, it's a lot better than some other sites on the wed, and I'm sure you'll do well. You are quite original from what I've seen.

Glad to see that you credited Wordpress, image host etc.! They should be credited to--and most of people doesn't credit them.

    Learn About the Owner;
You have lots of sub-categories! The biography is...in re-vamp? Okay, your Likes&Dislikes...you like Twilight Series too? :) Same with me. And you hate flying insects...eww, they're annoying. Your Music Interests...Ne-Yo yay! And I see...wait...A7X, Slipknot, Coldplay, Nirvana...Metro Station and Daughtry, those are my favorite too. Your sports interests...I don't watch NBA. Writing takes me to the "My Writing" under "Extras". F.A.Q...self-explanatory and the photo gallery takes me to "Gallery" in the main navigation. The Contact Me form is really useful--though it'll be better if you use PHPAskIt or something like that.

    CONCLUSION
Well, I really enjoy reviewing your site...your site is almost perfect, though there is something you need to fix. Nobodies perfect, right?

    4/5 for you. *claps*

-nnie - brilliantmistakes.co.n] but these icons are nice, not just cropped images. Good job!

    Icon Textures;
I'm a texture-mania and you have lots of sets in here! my favorite are Set 7 and Set 8.

    Wallpapers;
The first one is really bad -.- and some wallpapers contains celebrity images. Apart from that, you provide visitors with two sizes for each wallpaper--good job.

    Webicons;
No comment--they're not really good, and not too boring.

    Creating A Website?;
    Very well-written!

    Services;
Very good. I think many people need your help--and this is a great section to help them.

    My Writing;
Oh my god, you're very talented! My favorite is "Closer". Sounds really "Me" in the real life.

    Plug:
Nothing to say--I will plug my site after I'm done :p

    GALLERY
I'm not going to comment all of your photos. :)

    ARCHIVES
Well...I don't have anything to say.

    LINKS
    I think it should be...affiliates?

[[Not reviewed in a long while, and this'd be my first on re.view.me without having really looked through what others have put (in order to avoid bias) so please bear with me. :P]]

    Style/Design:
I actually like it. When I saw the screenshot I thought, "oh - this could be messy" but it's not so bad, score! Then again, that said, it reminds me of Spoono and other websites that followed this trend. There could be a little more consistency between the 'header' content and the sidebar stuff. The bits at the top are all nicely decorated and that, but the rest isn't. Hardly important, either way.

Colour wise, no problems. The text could probably be a little bigger, but this was never something that /terribly/ bugged me unless you used a 2pt dark grey serif font on a black background with almost no line spacing. My eyesight is pretty decent and I have a huge monitor, but others might not be in the same situation. ;) The one thing that could be said for the layout of your text is padding. More padding needed. Padding is incredibly important in website content, if there isn't enough of the stuff, it all tends to get a little cramped together, indistinguishable and hard to read. Your main page (blog) is fine, but I think the boxes to the left of the layout could do with some top/bottom padding and the content between the subheadings on the 'about' page could do with some, too.

    Content:
You have a broken link! The contact page.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of the whole 'zomg free stuff' thing. I'd never use it. I don't know many people who would. Look at it this way - would you find a use for it? If you would and do use it and are successful with it, or if other people ask you for it, then offer it up, but making it just for the hell of making it seems pretty pointless to me. But maybe that's just me. If you do it to show off your 'art' you could always open up a more 'exclusive' portfolio or design materials section rather than constantly churn out freebies.

Tutorials, nah. I mean, how much of that did you actually come up with and write yourself or write due to the fact you tried and tried to find a tutorial on the subject before and realise there was none and decided to help people out who were in your situation or [insert other sensical reason to have written a tutorial here]? How much of it did you see on another site and think - 'hey, cool idea for a tutorial - I'll just copy that' without really considering how or why it would be useful and how unique it is. Most of what you've written has been repeated, and repeated, and repeated, and repeated, and repeated, and repeated elsewhere. All of the Wordpress stuff you could have worked out yourself by, you know, reading the Wordpress docs on the Wordpress site. They also show /your/ lack of knowledge when you resort to repetitive, basic and even otherwise ill advised/'incorrect' tutorials (see 'disable right click' tutorial).

I could go on for hours, but I'll let others post their thoughts.

As for your blog, you're clearly an intelligent guy. I think you should write more personal content, and less of the 'hey look at me, have some free crap'. It's not really necessary to have that to draw someone's attention. There are many sites out there that are just blogs and are plenty exciting and popular - you could be, too.

    Coding:
It's not valid XHTML. It's not valid CSS. What more can I say on this matter? Obviously, you don't care about the code. It works, that's what matters, right? I could go on a rant about how it's important to code correctly, but I'm not going to. I'll leave that to the others. For now, refrain from deciding to write any tutorials on coding because, well, you can't do it correctly yourself, and what sense is there in passing on bad advice?

Remember to check that your site works right in a wide variety of browsers, at least, if you're not going to check your code, and even if you do check your code for that matter...

Google 'semantic HTML', and maybe do a little more research on CSS and accessibility - advice for the future.

    Originality:
Blog, yes, original by nature - it's a blog, it's about you. Nobody else does you. Free shit, not original - bland. Design, not terribly original, but nothing these days really is. ;)

Good luck, and hope that I helped at least a little.

Aisling gave it ****- on 16th Nov 2008 and said:

My first impression was "wow." You have A LOT going on, on this page. I don't know where to start looking!

The navigation is fun, but the text colour on hover is a bit too light. I'd like to still be able to read what it says, even if I am hovering.

The man in the suit is very cute! Or. Er. Manly? I don't know, my brother gets mad when I describe his things as cute. Anyway. It looks nice. :) Your About paragraph is interesting and makes me want to know more about you. The text may be just a bit too tiny though. Updates/Recent/Calendar all sort of do the same thing, but present the archives in an interesting way, regardless.

Your sidebar seems well organized although a little extra padding wouldn't hurt. I'm not a fan of advertisements on a personal site, because... well, I don't like the idea of selling myself. ;) Your footer is a nice way to end the page. :)

Now, on to the content bits. I'm obviously not going to review each tutorial because, seeing the , it would take all night, and I must admit, I've had a long day. But, they all look like really well done tutorials, detailing things that people may actually use! You may not be aware, but this is highly uncommon on some sites. ;)

For the most part, your backgrounds and brushes are pretty good. Some of your wallpapers feature celebrity images, which I'm sure you know are illegal to use unless you own the copyright, which I am sure you do not. You clearly have talent in other areas, why undermine that by stealing someone else's photography? Scrap the celebs, and focus more on original works, please!

Tutorials does not need to be linked on the Extras page, since it has it's own heading already. No need to be redundant. Also, Designing Layouts article is a link to nowhere. Please remove this link until there is something to see. Having your visitors click it for no reason is a waste of their time!

Your Gallery is... lotsa pictures of you, lol. I'm sure the 15 year old ladies are thrilled.

Your Links page doesn't really have an order. It would be nice to see it alphabetized, or something.

So, I am visiting "The Personal Website and Journal of Jerrel Baker," right? So, why have I had to wait until the end of the line for real information on him? The tagline suggests this site is a personal one, and I do believe the information on you should be first in line! In fact, this page doesn't even have information about you! In order to find information on you, we must click the tiny link at the bottom! That's no good. This section needs more attention brought to it. It needs it's own heading. If anything, you should have this section in the limelight, and the boring site information as a supplement. Seriously, I've reviewed a lot of sites, and I've yet to find an interesting site section. Owner sections are FAR more interesting.

Overall, VERY well done. Just ditch the celebrity images, focus on all the original things you do that involve talent, and you'll do fantastically!
