Win Free Star Membership
rev.iew.me has a few features in progress / down on paper that will not only improve the "social" aspect of our little reviewing community, but will improve the ways you can give and receive reviews. However, these are all useless without feedback from the people who make the site work: you!
Below are details for my favourite upcoming projects. I would like you all to post your feedback, ideas and suggestions (specifically on ways to improve or take those project ideas further). One lucky random contributor will win free Star Membership! (If the winner is an existing Star Member, their fee will be refunded to them.) On that note, here are the feature details:
Groups
Many WPR (Web Page Review) sites exist on the Internet, but finding them can be a pain in the bum.. finding an active one even more so. By introducing groups, I hope to bring the WPRs to a central location: rev.iew.me! We provide the community, the database and the functionality that WPRs need to help webmasters improve, and all the WPRs have to do is review.
Review Auctions
Have reviews been a little slow on your site lately? Perhaps you've got plenty of points to spare. How would you like to list your site up for a 'review auction' that allows members who WANT to review you, to bid on your site?
e.g. You have 7 points, so you can list your site and pay out a max of 7.
- Joe B. decides her reviews are great, "bids" 5
- Newbie writes sub-standard reviews, decides she just wants extra points, bids the full 7
- Desperate decides he'll get what he can, bids 1 point
You decide that the best value for points is Joe B, and accept her bid. Joe B does the review, gets X amount of points for word count (as usual), as well as the 5 points you agreed from Joe B's bid. If Joe B fails to do the review after 7 days, the points go back to you, and you can start a new 'auction'.
---
So, do you think you can improve on these ideas? Do you have a nagging feeling that you've just got to get off your chest? All you've got to do is make sure you're logged in and leave a comment on this post with your thoughts. Comments will be collated by username (so multiple comments are only counted as one entry) and then a random commenter will be picked from the database. Good luck!

One thing that I've really wanted to have is the ability to delete friends, but not through their profile but through the edit your profile page. :)

What about a todo list? Sometimes there are many sites that reviewers would want to review, but have no time to do so at the moment, and then they can add the site to their to-do list and come back to it later.
Of course, sometimes they can just bookmark it, but lazy people like me love todo lists :P
That's all I can think about now though =\

An auction, what a great idea! :D

I really like the auction idea, but not really getting the group thing. Maybe it's because I'm an idiot. I also like Chien's idea about the to-do list.

@Vasili & Chien: the entry did say to leave "feedback, ideas and suggestions (specifically on ways to improve or take those project ideas further)" not to leave new ideas ;)

I dig the groups idea. I hate coming across dead review sites and it would be great for them together somehow.
I'm not really sure I get the Auction idea but that may just be me being.. well, um, not getting it right away! It seems a little complicated. Or is that me being an idiot? I don't know. I'm not sure I would personally use it (I might give it a try) but perhaps others would find it more appealing.
And I kinda like the To Do list idea ... !

Both ideas are very appealing, especially the second. Reviews have been coming in dead slow for me so the auctions sound like a good boost. I've been needing a review especially because of the massive layout change. By the way, is there a say you can update the screen of you site?

At first I didn't get the auction idea, but after reading it through a couple times, I think it's great and would be very effective. (:
And Chien's to do list idea is quite interesting...I think you should add that.
Having groups is a cool idea too.

@Jem, whoops, my bad. But keep it as a suggestion just in case you'd want it in the future then :P

Awesome! An auction. Great idea, because then the really good reviewers (unlike myself) will get more for their reviews ^.^

I don't really understand the idea for 'groups', but I love the auction idea! I sounds great! I think a lot of us would enjoy it. =)

I like the idea of the group review, in fact I think I'd review more if I were reviewing with others :P I imagine if you got points it'd be based on what you contributed to the review and maybe even some bonus points for just being in a group?
I love the auction idea. Would the auctions last for a few days or just when the person decides what to take? Could have a bid and buy option maybe? Like say I bid 5 points to review Betty while Joe pays the full 7 points and the auction is closed.

I like the "Review Auction" idea. This way, the reviewers who give better critiques can get more credit for their work.
The Groups idea is great, too. Rev.iew.me is a pretty popular site, and by bringing people together, I think it'll make this site even more popular.

For Groups, would they have their own groups page? I was thinking it would motivate more of the reviewers to set up their groups at review.me if they were given their own groups page where they can customise it. For example, having their own groups banner on the groups page. This may also be limited to the starters of the groups who have star membership? This also helps to give the current star members more benefits and maybe encourage more members to be star members?
In regards to review auctions, I think we can have a list of the reviews done by the reviewers from auctions or have auctioned reviews indicated. This can allow us to browse through the reviews done by the reviewers from bids to access the quality of their reviews.
If the reviews done via the bidding system are reported as "Lulzy" review and the admins agree with it and deleted the review, will the points go back to the reviewee?
Otherwise, I think both are great ideas. :)

The auction is a great idea. Why keep reviewing sites once no one is looking to review your site anymore?
